"here I close this narrative, with agnes at my side. Agnes, agnes, may you so be near me when I close my life. When realities are melting from me like the shadows of this story, may I find you near me still."
The movie brought out the style that Charles Dickens offers the reader, and the scenarios and characters that he describes are exemplarily perfomed. The moive is almost as emotional and captivating as the book; leading to a semetrical cinematographic arrangement. Neverteless, my major dissapointment are majorly (like every "book-to-cinema-relationship") that certain characters like James Steerforth, Mrs. Steerforth, Miss Dartle, Mr.Peggotty, and Emily were put in second row or weren't put at all
I bought my husband a copy of this book. It was published in 1943. I am giving it to him for christmas. Dickens is his favorite author. I watched this today and started reading the story hoping we'll spend many hours talking about this great work. Thank you for sharing/uploading.
Very sweet. I think I'd have to be a teenager to really appreciate the romance in this, just because David is SO YOUNG! Agnes is so beautiful and graceful, it's a little hard to feel the chemistry between her and such a young actor. BTW, I LOVE AGNES HAIR! I WANT MY HAIR LIKE THAT!
@ApostleCreed10 ... Thankyou so very much for uploading this version of 'David Copperfield'... Even though the sync was out abit, I didn't care one jot... marvellous, absolutely marvellous,.

Like poliador said, it's an adaption not an exact remake of the story. I think everybody is disappointed of the movie version of a book he likes, but I learned to accept it, I can live with Jane Austen and charles dickens movies &some more.
But the most important thing is to remain respect for each other^^

Thank you very much for posting this wonderful masterpiece ^^ Even there were a few scene deleted and Mr.and Misses Strong were not presented I enjoyed this movie very much^^
"Oh Agnes! Oh my soul! so may thy face be by me when I close my eyes indeed! so may I, when realities are melted from me like the shadows which I now dismiss still find thee near me, pointing upward!"
how beautiful! amazing book, amazing characters, amazing writing and a splendid Author <3
I finished the book yesterday, GOD! how lonely I felt after finishing it, it's like I will miss the characters. I must say that after reading this novel (which became my favorite) and watching Little Dorrit the series. Charles Dickens became my favorite author, thank you Mr.Dickens for filling these past few months with these lively characters.
but in general, I didn't like this version at all....
i find it pretty outrageous that they left out the Emmy (not Emily) - Ham conflict, which was at least as important then the David-Dora one according to the book, and the portrayal of Mr Pegotty is very weak compared to the novel... otherwise it's a pretty good adaptation; they couldn't have chosen a better actor for the main role (both young and adult). Respect!
A great movie based on one of the most appreciated works of literature i have ever read...
Charles Dickens is my favorite British novelist ever, and there isn't anything he wrote that i could not love. My favorite book of his, is "Great Expectations" - just sublime...
Thank you ApostleCreed10 for adding this movie, for that every moment i spend in a Dickens universe is unforgettable.
Loved this... thank you ApostleCreed10... I have read the book and this is a pretty good adaption!!! Hugh Dancy was a GREAT David Copperfield!!! Thanks Again!!!
By far the best film version I have seen. I watched it before when I found the DVD inside a newspaper I bought, I actually cried when I watched it the first time and found it hard to fight back the tears again this time. I told my partner we had to watch it together and we did, thanks to you. I am very thankful and praise you a great deal for uploading it.
Actually the book didn't end this way. Ridiculous. There was a few odds and ends tyed up. Spoiler: they had like what 5 kids I forget even though I just finished, mr. peggotty comes to visit and gives news of Emily, micawber, gummwhich. Anyway, it would have been nice for the movie to at least end complete with a full ending not a crappy love scene where the actor mumbles his few stupid lines and they get married. It should have dragged on a little towered the end. I'm glad to have read the boo
i am so amazed with that movie the characters have performing the words lively specially Uriah , David , Pegotty . i felt so pity for David's mum i think i'm in love with her lol
Thanks for the upload! Hugh Dancy made a lovely David. Alas, Steerforth was a disappointment...this version really downplayed the Emily/Steerforth/Ham triangle.
I'm auditioning tonight to play Dan Peggotty at the Dickens Christmas Faire here in the Bay Area. I hadn't seen or read David Copperfield before today, and have a better idea of what to do now. Thanks so much for posting this series of videos!
Thank you so much for uploading this. I'm about to read it for my Uni course and really wasn't looking forward to reading it. But after watching this I have a real sense of who the characters are and i'm looking forward to giving it a go! It seems like one of the better Dickens novels (unlike Dombey and Son which I detested) :)
I want a great great great movie for this book. I want to have tears in my eyes like when i read it. Crying and laughing at the same time. Crazy childhood story. Sorry too much emotions.
