I take risperdal for 5 months and the only efect to me is to turn me an stupid, then easyly manipulated for the doctors. I think this efects is cronic. Reciping this for chils is a CRIME. They will be cronical patients for live, the farmaceutic industry are creating new clients for the future. They think is the logical way to do to cronifiquing illnes, and controling people, but is not. It is a psicological murder.

Great observation - there is no biological or pathological test. It's merely behavior. We learn certain patterns as a result of repeated experiences. Knowing how to deal with those experiences better is the only way to deal with any emotional problem that doesn't originate with a disease process (such as thyroid, brain tumor, etc. which can affect one's emotions) Pills are never the answer.

I was put on antipsychotics at age 14 in the eighth grade for anxiety and it was awful. I was put on Risperdal, Abilify and Seroquel during my teen years for anxiety. Seven years later I'm off all medications. They are horrible and have horrible side effects. It's awful. The doctors also lied about the side effects and did not tell me I was taking antipsychotics. The side effects were hell and they did not help.

A few years ago the concept of childhood bipolar was insane and impossible.

My son was one of thousands on Risperidone for 'adhd', with long-term side effects he still suffers from nearly 1 year after being off. I fought with my all to keep him off the meds. But the school insisted and so did the therapist they required him to see. When I took him off and refused it, they threatened me with medical neglect and taking him away if I didn't continue the medication.

He gets in trouble for things like talking too much in class, spending too much time in the bathroom, getting up without raising his hand, or pretending to pick his nose and then chases the girls with it. He recently turned 11. These are the behaviors that they feel REQUIRE antipsychotics. Most of the time its not us parents, but the schools and doctors who threaten to take our children away if we don't comply. Its ridiculous!

@SeanGoatboy ADHD is more than just 'extra energy' that needs to be burned off. It's an inability for the brain to focus and a problem with impulse control. That being said, there are plenty of natural healthy ways of dealing with it and teaching your child to handle it without drugging them and endangering their health and wellness.

Commercially available psychoactive drugs are still very crude. They are the equivalent of swatting a mosquito with a sledgehammer. We are attempting to medicate a part of the body which we have very little understanding of. That being said, these medications are helpful for many people, and have allowed them to become productive members of society once again. I'm referring to adults only.

Also my girlfriend's mom's friend from a long time ago had a kid that had emotional behavior and she decided to give him psych drugs. he wasn't being rowdy anymore but he can only focus on one thing. He doesn't even react to people in conversation. he isn't a vegetable on the drugs but he is pretty close.

I severly disagree with giving children such medicines because I believe that while there may be a few that it will help there are to many parents using it to make thier life more convienent.

I asked my dr to print out a sheet listing the effects of it just to see why it was so bad and why I had heard so much against it in the news. it turned out that one of it's side effects is it makes you lean more towards psychotic(I'm not saying it will make you nuts just lean you more towards it.) my doctor said most anti psych drugs had that as a side effect.
