Postulating the existence of god is an assumption. The reverse is not one. You wouldn't call not postulating the existence of any other magical or supernatural thing an assumption. You wouldn't notice it at all. The only reason we do have a word for atheism is because religion has been with us as long as our language and has only become something we were free to discuss and question in the recent past of our species. We don't have to find a way to make science fit the ideas of religions.
IM not so sure about the last one you do mention here.Seen Islamic architectures is like heaven on earth and its mains pillar is their faith in a very subliminal love of God.
The cosmos exists because there is a power greater than the human being which has created existence.
Logic and Truth. Does man exist solely because he exists? No THAT would be irrational and illogical thinking. Do not blind yourself to the signs that your existence was a miracle in itself
You are supposing things that you cannot possibly know. You have no evidence for your proposition. You have first assumed that the universe requires a cause, yet the law of cause and effect is an intrinsic property of the universe itself, and there is no reason to assume it existed 'before' the universe.
Because (by + cause) supposes a causal relation between two things. No-one is suggesting a causal relation from 'mans' existence leading to 'mans' existence. Not least that would be against the law of cause and effect that requires that cause precedes effect.
Do not blind yourself from evidence, and better yet, do not imagine there to be evidence where there is not. Work on what information is available, and do not assume or pretend to know the mind of god.
I do not attempt to know the mind of God, If I did then that would make me God. The universe should be a vacuum which does not exists but yet it does, why is that?
The facts are that there was a big bang and the universe is finite. This means that the universe had a beginning, fact. I'm not saying something specific had to happen for the universe to exist but something did happen. How can u create an explosion without having the instruments to create it? How can the universe exist illogically and impossibly when it shoudln't?
siberiace, your reasoning is admirable, but fundamentally flawed- in that both you and Scientists still have a very limited understanding of the origins of the universe.
It's true that there's scientific controversy over the Big Bang and quantum physics... but that is NOT evidence for a Designer.
ESPECIALLY when we consider that the "designer" theory is based not on objective scientific observation, but on prescientific mythologies, it is highly unlikely that this explanation is correct.
Are you saying that only everything that is physically seen is the only truth? I come to the conclusion that the universe needs an external entity/source to be created through logic and not through religion and science. It is not logical through laws of cause and effect that the universe could have created itself. The brain exists within our small shell of a skull yet the free mind travels far and beyond.
"everything that is physically seen is the only truth?" science is about understanding things we can't see, as well as things we can.
You say you believe in a creator not because of religion and science. If that were true you'd have your own, personal, individual religion, but i'm betting you're part of a larger one.
As for cause and effect, they don't apply the same way at a quantum level, and scientists are still working on big bang physics.
very true ......outsider observer but I just wonder where we really are and why . By the way the only place that God can be seen is in ART . or when a man discover himself there is GOD .
I liked everything in this video. Blending the promotion of atheism with our human responsibility with saving the planet, the achievements of science and our emotional, sentimental attachment to our home all serves to further distance us atheists from the stigmas religion has attached to us. Well Done.
Agreed. But I thought there needed to be more whales and the other earthlings we share the home planet with. And less emphasis on intrusive technology. Not a single solar panel seen on earth! No straw bale houses.
The Bible says that humans are made of dirt.
And that snakes and donkeys talk.
And that insects have 4 legs.
And that bats are birds.
And that the earth is flat.
And that the sun revolves around the earth.
And that Pi = 3 rather than 3.1416...
And that animals appeared AFTER man but BEFORE woman.
Other than a few (hundred) minor details like that,
it's a really scientific book!
