I liked the movie when it was realized. I saw it with a bunch of friends and it was quite fun back in 91. I just saw it a few days ago and it was good retro nostalgia trip. Good on adding King’s version of the story.
I love the cyberpunk genre, and Lawnmower Man is one of my favorite films of all time. I highly recomend watching the two hour and twenty minute director's cut, the theatrical cut is a big mess.
Jenny Wright Is pretty Hot. I think I have guilty pleasure aspects for this movie even though It was poorly done In some areas. I just like anything having to do with the fantastic, even though a lot of It would be illogical. Like a deleted scene In this movie where his Wife or girlfriend Is brainwashed by Jobe and she opens the door and Is greeted with Gunfire because of the gun she was carrying. After watching that I thought It seemed very ridiculous. It didn't make sense to me.
Why did you include this movie in your list? If only have 28 slots available, I would much rather you review something fantastic like The Green Mile than a movie that is not even really based on a Stephen King story.
The virtual reality component of the movie could have been a little more interesting had it not been made before the internet because imagine all the Y2K type destruction Jobe could have done with internet access.
I didn't even know that this WAS a Stephen King movie. Thanks for explaining the background on the movie. That just goes to show that large studios care more about slapping a name on something in an attempt to dupe people into buying it, rather than actually making anything that's actually decent.
"Special effects and a shot of titties..." That's what more movies need these days. There would probably be less violence in the world. Love the reviews man.
I can remember watching The Lawnmower Man when I was around 11-12, and this was the time when CGI was really hitting every movie that was released (like 3D is doing at the moment).
It looked great at the time, yet you watch it now and realise that it didn't age very well at all.
Other than T2 and Jurassic Park, there are not a lot of CGI movies from the very early 90's that have aged well.
I used to see the cover of this movie in the video store all the time and never ended up renting it because of how strange it looked. I gotta watch it sometime.
hey necrovmx did you see Dolan's Cadillac ?

This was a good role by Pierce Brosnan, very underrated because most know of him as James Bond or Remington Steele.

That was one insane long intro. An intro should be no longer than 10 seconds not a whole bloody minute. Sort it out chap.

I remember seeing the poster and tv ads when I was young. I didn't get the title either. I can see why King was pissed. lol

How dare you say a movie with James Bond and Frank The Penis from Lost has questionable acting.
