i know why your ricky carmichael is so slow on its hole shot it is because you are useing a motor with to much kv. instead of useing a 7700kv which doesent have that much torque you should use a 5700kv brushless motor. a 5700kv brushless motor has more torque than a 7700kv motor does because the 7700kv is made to go faster and not have as much torque. i hope that this helps you out with your brushless project.
ricky carmicheal rides suzuki... wth? when you get these bikes, they look like honda.... bikes... or is it they come from radio shack and they dont pay to much attention to detail...?
hey wonderful im thinking of making a project similar to yours but i have some questions if i were to do an on road bike would the nikko bike work well? if i were to do an off road would a sparc bike work well? also is it very hard to do projects like that? thanks allot i hope i can get my project going soon!!
I had one of the Nikko Ducatis myself, but it seemed a bit delicate to upgrade. I sold it and bought the thunder tiger electric. I'm not sure what the sparc bike is )I don't think we have them in the UK. Anything is worth a go. I'd love to see how you get on!
But I think the kv rating is too high. The kv rating means rounds per volt and I think the 7700 set hasn't enough torque for such a heavy bike, I think the 5700 would've been better.
And those NiCD batts are way too weak for BL systems. You're putting an antique battery technology together with the most recent EP motor tech which won't really mix. I'd get at least a good NiMh pack (3700+mAh, matched racing packs preferred) and deans ultra plugs.
HA, you actually followed my suggestion, rock on! I'd like to see how it runs because the concept of an offroad rc bike that goes fast as stink kinda interests me...
Tip; Brushless motors need lipo batterys teh standard 7.2v nicads DONT WORK. You looked in to how much all that costs??? ITS a Bomb. stay with Nitro :P
My Thuder Tiger Ducati with a Mtroniks genesis ride set up works fine with nicads. It cost £75 on Ebay, so not to bad. I'm getting a li-po soon, so I'll see how that goes!
The instructions say that it works fine with a nicad. However I know nothing about brushless motors, batteries and li-pos. I'm learning all the time! Thankyou!
I don't know much about lipos either. The bike came with a team orion 4800mah lipo but I found out it cost $130-$160 and it needs a special charger just for lipos- cost $100-$150. Like I said I don't know much about lipos but I have been searching the internet for any information. I would like to have another battery to use while one is charging but I save up for it. I would say the only draw back about electric engines would be recharging batteries other wise I like how it runs.
i actually bought a ricky carmichael on ebay with the mamba max 7700kv motor already installed. I will let you know it pulls a lot of current. I used a 3000mah ni-hm battery and regular connectors to test it out and the battery and connectors got so hot they melted a whole in the cover. I have since gotten a lipo battery. BIG difference. The bike flys. Make sure you use a battery that is recommended and dean ultra connectors for the mamba make.
Thanks for that! What sort of lipo did you buy, how much was it and where from? know nothing about lipo (before last month I knew nothing about brushless motors)!
the mamba max series are very good, i got the 7700kv in my assocaited b4 but ive heard that they are way to powerful for bikes, people have said that when you accelarate with the motor in it it wheelies on command and just flips the bike. so might sugest you buying or making a wheelie bar for that thing =]
Thanks for that. The radio shack ricky bike is very heavy (almost twice that ot a 1/10th scale car) so hopefully itwon't be wheeling too much. A bit more speed would be nice though. I like your line flyer vid. Is that the name of the program?
hi, line flyer is the name of the program =] look at some other vids some poeple have spent come real time on making a line flyer =] thanks for coment
hey wonderful! i got an idea that would make a great video.. its to do with modding a schumacher rascal from a schumacher riot. it is said that the wishbones and suspension/shocks can actualy fit the rascal and then the riot exhaust can be mounted THAT WOULD BE AWSOME i'd love to see what that would run like :P i smell agility TO THE MAX!
Your videos are fantastic! I'm wondering though, is there no way you can do 'feature length' vids and include the bits where you're actually installing the motor (for example)?
i very much doubt you'll have any probalem with the gears or the bike it's designed to withstand it but you may be wheelying all over the place should be interesting, ps by the way how many bikes and cars have you got ive lost count??
I've lost count as well. I got the rc bug last summer and have bought and sold a lot of stuff since then. I always buy as cheap as possible on ebay. I think it's about 5 bikes (two rickys, two tt's and a nf506) and the rascal and a tamaya mini cooper!
did you put the fan on or did it come like that?

I have two of these, I recieved them from Christmas on there first month of Realese a few years ago. I hear now there Limited edition?
Am I correct?
SinSlayer111 3 years ago
Just fyi, Kv != kilovolt (kV). Kv (capital K, lowercase v) is a rating of RPM per volt. So your 7700Kv Mamba max does 55440RPM @ 7.2V.

At one point Ricky Carmicheal rode for Honda. It was at this point that radio shack licenced his name to put on their rc bike.

Will do. I know nothing about brushless motors (I thought the bigger the number the more powerful the motor). Thankyou!
