Thank a lot, Bret (JazzVideoGuy?) I think your name was quite familiar as a journalist for Down Beat. I am a big fan of Toninho Horta, and as Brazilian jazz lover and player, I know Chico's projects were all great. Then, Bob's part in his latest album was very exciting. I communicated with Bob asking about this big band project, and now I am waiting eagerly for getting a copy of the CD.
Takes me back to Quincy Jones and his "Big Band Bossa Nova" album in 1964. I was so excited to discover it! I have the CD version now. I'm very excited about this project. Also, I'm excited about getting a bossa nova version of my song "All My Life" produced and arranged for the Reach 4 Freedom: Heal Child Abuse Music Project. We need someone to donate studio space/time in the San Francisco area, so reach back if you have any leads. Happy Days! Val Oliver
And one more thing, I used to hear my friends saying "Playing and listening to jazz is Haaard I'd rather go play and enjoy simple punk-rock music I understand" I think playing and be able to enjoy great jazz music is not difficult, but Mature for the first place. That's my opinion. No offence to any other styles of music.
Hey there, I like this video Immensely and I've been very touched by a message in the end of it, although I play extreme metal music on drums. I've been greatly influenced by jazz players (not only the drummers) and i think it's just great that you guys are able to deliver your message through the music to a younger guys like me. There are many different issues to discuss and talk about, but the comment section won't let me do this. Thank you again for your influences, they are really felt upon.
Anyone know a good veterinarian?...........We are gonna need one cause these Cats are SICK!!!!! Thanks again, Bret for showing the net just how cool Jazz is. Not a chance of becoming Invisible!! Love watching Mintzer do his thing.
Frank Basile from North Texas -- plays a lot for Sumlyan in the Vanguard band. He has a nice be-bop cd out -- listen to it. Obviously A Pepper Adams lover.
@garrettmillerdrums Peter Erskine is just simply an amazing drummer. There's a reason he played with Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson and Weaher Report and Jaco and so many others.
Brilliant! Chico Pinheiro is an amazing musician - what a great context this is to hear his music!

it's not the first time I hear "writing charts", is that the same as "writing music pieces, like notation?"
