  • is this from 1978? cant find dvd of it on netflix!

  • The whole band's still got it!! Check out the DVD "Silver"...they KILL on all of the Budokan songs! Also, the second time Zander sings"...are you ready to rock/are you ready or na-a-at" in this clip is this sh-- !!

  • I Love That Song!!

  • Those were the days, those were the days! It's true Robin is never mentioned as one of the greats-why I'll never know-he still has it!

  • If you took a poll of the top 25 rock vocalists, most people wouldn't even think of Robin Zander - and that's a damn shame cause the guy can wail and always could.

  • best band and opening ur right! It kicks ass!

  • Pure Awesome

  • the best opening song ever in Rock History

  • @edwarddavis Along with Hello, Hooray (Alice Cooper Band) and Deuce (KISS). Great concerts in the seventies.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOH GOD! Cheap Trick é perfeito ;'(

  • Cheap Trick at Budokan is the #1 live rock album of all-time and there is nothing anybody can do about it. Trick fan since 1979

  • @NamathTheLegend I still think The Who-Live at Leeds was better. This would be #2 for me tho. Both phenominal albums.

  • sweet like Candy these guys were huge in Korea keepin it real on the DMZ with Bud E Carlos ....

  • Budokan. One of the greatest live albums ever. That's a fact.

  • Rick was a cross between Huntz Hall and Art Carney's Ed Norton.

  • Rick styled himself after a "Bowery Boy",from the 40's.

  • Rick was totally crazy. Love him.

  • Gawd I LOVE this song! First heard it in the opening scenes of the great 'Over The Edge'!

  • Of course all the girls liked "I Want You To Want Me" ,.. but there was so much more,.. I especially loved the cover of Fat's Domino "Ain't That A Shame" Bun E. Carlos drum intro + then the guitar,..!! But I must say I loved evry song from beginning to end,.. "Hello There" to "Goodnight Now" ,.. "Clock Strikes Ten" "Come On Come On" and especially "BIG EYES" ,..... every single song ROCKed,... this is what ROCK'n'ROLL's about,.....!!!

  • Listen...

Honestly, if a kid who is young like around 16,17 growing up in this generation...you have to realize ONE THING! This band..CHEAP TRICK was and will always be considered 1 of the originals....who have designed HARD ROCK!(Yes you heard me right!)..or legendary forefathers of modern day rock and roll...RIGHT HERE!(WHO!I might add is 1 OF THE MOST UNDERRATED FUKIN' BAND OF THE 70'S AND NEVER GOT THE CREDIT THEY DESERVED EVER IN ROCK AND ROLL).

  • Goatskull, the original Budokan concert album was taken from two different nights. The concert was performed both April 28th and April 29th. The original album flips around from both nights. The beauty of the new release from a year and a half ago is Cheap Trick released the entire April 28th show, and also a video DVD of most of the April 28th show taken off Japanese TV. I really believe Cheap Trick's concert at Budokan was one of the top 10 concerts of all time. A truly unreal performance

  • @nathandm1917 "Cheap Trick At Budokan" Is actually rated as being 1 of the Top Ten Live albums of ALL TIME,.... so you really don't have to believe it,.. CUZ IT'S TRUE,.... I remember watching this on T.V. at a friend's Mom & Dad's place one Friday night sooooo many years ago,.. and it was simulcast in Stereo with our local 107.3 FM radio station out of Calgary, Alberta,..!!!

  • I hate to burst some bubbles, but do any of you actually have the Live At Budokan album? The audio and the video are not the same. They were spliced together.

  • @Goatskull YES,...!!! It was also the first LP I think I ever bought,.. I was like about 12 years old,...!!! This concert & record is as awesome now as it was back then,.. to this day I know every little bit,.. cuz I played it over & over & over in my room, and also in our lunch room we had in Junior High,...

  • @Goatskull YES,...!!! It was also the first LP I think I ever bought,.. I was like about 12 years old,...!!! • @Goatskull YES,.... it was the first LP I ever bought,.... it was an Import,.. all the lyrics were both in English and Japanese,...... I played it over and over and over,...

  • Fuck yeah!

  • OVER THE EDGE

  • CHEAP TRICK---"HELLO THERE"

  • my second concert ever, cheap trivk and ac / dc, wat a show 78 rules

  • FODA! \m/

  • What an awesome band. I saw them in Memphis this year and they still rock. Classic rock radio really needs to play more Cheap Trick songs than just "I Want You To Want Me' and "Surrender." This band has an awesome catalogue of killer tunes.

  • @sheephider82 I love "Surrender",.. and of course all the girls liked "I Want You To Want Me" ,.. but there was so much more,.. I especially loved the cover of Fat's Domino "Ain't That A Shame" Bun E. Carlos drum intro + then the guitar,..!! I have the entire album from beginning to end memorized,.. still over 30 years later,.. I can tell if it's from the original "Live At Budokan" album or not,...!!!! Cuz it was the first LP I ever , ever bought,..!!

  • Trying to set up a Cheap Trick Tribute band in The Netherlands...if you are interested give me a mail. I play 12 string bass

  • 2 people were not ready to rock

  • great song great band : ]

  • FUN.... not the aggressive posturing of todays rock acts.

  • I was chuggin’ down my 4th quart for the evening and checked out your page. Dude thank you for puttin’ Cheap Trick here. I went right back to graduation 1979 and almost cried. I’m turnig 50 this year, so I puked n the hit the sac instead. I’m just a fellow you tuber who like your site man. Cheers!

  • Everyone I knew had this album. This stuff is still fresh sounding to me. Robin Zander's bark rivaled McCartney's. A very unappreciated band far as RRHOF is concerned at least. Screw em.

Cheap Trick doesn't kick less ass because some snobs don't want to acknowledge them.

  • I was 14 in 1978...what a year for music. Cheap Tricks Budokan and VanHalens 1st album. Kiss was going full bore then too...gosh WTF were we thinkin there? lol

  • @gmartinz01'...like each lyric was a line from Macbeth'-sir, I salute you.Can I use that myself?Seen them many times from 79 onward, including seeing them open and wipe the floor with Motley Crue, flying drumkit and all, and Im seeing them again in November. Just a fuckin great band.If they dont make you smile, youre already dead...

  • Back when rock was fun, before it was everyone on stage dressed in black, clutching the microphone as if to strangle it and acting like each lyric was a line from Macbeth.

  • the hold steady stole that riff for one of their songs...

  • yes !

  • i rememebr spending like 35 bucks for the import album from japan....my stepdad asked me if i was retarded to spend that kind of money on an album!! worth EVERY damn penny!!

  • Cheap Trick. Best American rock group. Best vocals, best songwriting, monster rhythm section. Great look.

  • those screaming jap girls give me goosebumps ....awesome.

  • The have a great approach to songs and entertainment.Should have been as big as AC/DC. A good show for sure.

  • @celticstones the guitarist for cheap trick kinda reminds me of angus young haha

  • Looked like a great night was on the cards at that gig! Quality stuff.

  • Those Trick Boys...the pride of Rockford, IL

  • afterburners light at :59 we have liftoff!

  • what an awesome song! pity my generation misses out on great 1:51 seconds like this!

  • @cavedweller1996 Tom Petersson, to the right, plays 12-string bass.

  • TWELVE STRING BASS

    is that even possible!!!?!?!?!?!?

  • @cavedweller1996 It's similar to an 8- string (note + octave) but with an extra octave. Actually not too difficult to play.

  • it's a pretty fat sounding setup. you can't get away with slap or ghost notes, but it's awesome for simple basslines.

  • It was so loud in that place that they couldn't hear each other talk, lol. CT looks so excited. I love it!

  • so bad ass

  • Ahh,the summer of 78',not a care in the world,the memories...

  • @ottvalley I couldnt have said it better...Class of 78!!

  • @ottvalley I completely agree. Mostly due to the fact that I wasn't born for another 12 years.

  • man those screaming jap girls....awesome

  • Whats not to like? One great live album, one of the best, like live at the Apollo (JB) and Jerry Lee Live at the Star Club!

  • God I loved this band as a teen. I wore out this album at LEAST 2x.

  • holy shit. they will never re-live that moment. But wait they always relive that moment. CHEAP TRICK RULES

  • Wow! The surprised never stop coming! So is this the actual first Budokan show that was also captured for posterity on the album as well? Sounds near Identical. If that's so, then I must say that I never knew it any Vid footage of it ever existed, much less the DVD. Awesome!

  • If you're not singing along then there is something wrong with ya!

  • they sound so good live

  • Deep Purples 'Made in Japan' kicks ass to.

  • I love this album. One of my favorite live albums of all time along with Kiss Alive and Alive II.

  • Absolutely AWESOME!

  • coooooooool!

  • Great!

  • I didnt know this was on video!!
