Many of these skills are very pretty but next to useless in a game of football. e.g. in the very first clip Ronaldo does all sorts of amazing things with his feet BUT NEVER AT ANY TIME LOSES THE DEFENDER!! The clip with Cole around 0:45 is the same. I'm no great fan of Cole, but Ronaldo at no time loses him. I'm all for a clever backheel, stepover or whatever if they lead to a positive result in the game. If not, what's the point?

How can you say that his moves are useless? Even if they don't create a good chance it makes the footy game more exciting. Every dangler makes a move when it's not necessary but sometimes the unexpected happens and it does create a good offensive opportunity. If you look at 2:05 it's completely unnecessary but its his style and it gives young players a role model, where they can say "I want to play just like Ronaldo." He's not going to perfect his moves every time but usually they work so well!
