A swan isn't big enough to break an adult's bones. Unless you trip running from it. They bite and hit with their wings. They can leave you black and blue for about a week. They aren't something to mess with. People think 'cause they're beautiful they are tame.
@nimi118 Not crush your facial bones, but they can easily shred your skin, etc. Swans really are extremely dangerous, and people have been sent to the Emergency Room after being attacked by them.
I saw a swan do that once! My brother was all "Dude, why's it doing that!?"
And then we saw that there were about four or five babies in the reeds. Mama was just doing her job... But those little balls of fluff were SO BLOODY CUTE!!!!
@nzephier swans are not "dicks" actually these wonderful creatures are this way because some heartless humans kill them as a "sport" or simple for their feathers ....is just a natural reaction for them :)
swans r not graceful!!!!!! wen i was 5 i was feeding a swans,it bit me and pulled me into the water and pecked me ,and by the time i escaped i was bleeding had to get 29 stitches,
Swans really are this aggressive. I was once walking past a pond near my girlfriend's apartment, and a swan just came right out of the water and snapped at me with its beak. I'm only afraid of animals bigger than me, so I kicked it. It didn't get the message and started hitting me with its wings, so I grabbed it by its neck, picked it up, and flung it as far as I could, while a bunch of people nearby applauded. All the swans and geese in that pond left me alone from then on.
@loqutor That sounds badass... I'm very close to doing that to this goose at the college I go to - it walks around outside one of the buildings, making it impossible to get in without being chased. Last week it tried to attack me.
@zgrillo2004 Oh, no. Swans are pretty aggessive by themselves, even without nests around. One of the reasons why they're considered to be pretty invasive stateside because they basically maul the native waterfowl.
There once was a beautiful swan. Everyone loved it so much that it never got any alone time. One day, it snapped, lost its cool, and attacked an old man. The old man never went there again. The End.
swans are so beautiful but not so nice i have two that come by my dock and they just had a baby but i feed them swan food so theyre sort of used to me but i can never get to close
I love swans, they're so tempremental, it don't matter if you're 600 lb bear, if you piss them off, they will try and nip you and fight you to the death if need be.
Why so scared? xD everyone thinks that swans are soo freaking dangerous.. okay they are a bit agressive, but they can't break legs or bones or arms or whatever.. they aren't strong enough for flew up suddenly.. 2 times, a swan 'hit' me with his wings.. ooh it was soooo painful. not. only his foots and nails are dangerous cuz they are sharp.
@JumperBinky fucken thing could probably nip yer eye out with its beak. If I were tryen to get by and a swan pulled that shit on me; while it was swinging its fucken beak at me id grab it by the neck and swing its body into the ground at full stregnth, then immediately jump a foot in the air and stomp it as hard as possible twice then back up 3 feet and boot it like it were a football on a field goal kick. If it still tried it after that in pull a knife out and finish the thing completely off.
And I thought being chased by a duck was traumatic. I've been chased by all sorts of wild life... turkey, ducks, dogs, chickens... But man, it would scare the living daylights out of me to be chased by a humongous swan.
@gourleycoinsDOTcom. Good on you, we have to draw the line somewhere, if a man can't protect his home, family and food then what have we left. It's simply abusing its power of being protected wildlife, thinks we cant stand up for ourselves! lol im just kidding but your story was interesting I had similar incident myself feeding the birds they came over and nearly took my face off to get the loaf I was feeding them.
Swans are nice enough, but they are also very territorial, and don't fly off scared like most birds. If a Swan feels threatned it will stand it's ground.
There are two highly aggressive swans where I live. I do not even know why the apartment complex allows them there. I had a loaf of bread that I bought from the store and as I was heading inside, the swan came at me and started snapping at me. I swung the loaf of bread at it hitting it in the head. The swan backed off and I continued inside.
we had a massive one in stanground and me and my friend were playing with are rc boats which are pretty quick so we ran rings round the thing and it was chasing the boats and stuff but it couldnt keep up even by flying it was so funni
Swans are highly agressive. They will tear your bloody flesh off if you let them. Best defense against a swan? Grab it by the neck and friggin hurl it.
The rule of thumb seems to be, only approach them when they're in water. Usually very tame and friendly. If they get pissed off easily out of water then that's their prerogative. Primates, dolphins, dogs and cats etc can have bad tempers too.
the worst thing to do is run wen they attack. Just stand there they will have a little nibble and wack yah with there wing a bit then they will walk off.
where are the wife and babies, i dont see any?. just joking, you have a point, but no need for the bad language, you sound angry like your guarding your wife and babies.

i would break that fucking swans neck...im not joking... i literaly would grab it by the neck and snap it like a stick over my knee. whata pussy afraid of a swan.
ROFL!!!! Er, yeah mate I'm something of an authority on Roman history! The point I was trying to make (using sarcasm) was that a slighlty angry bird bore little or no resemblance to the man who brought the Imperium Romanum Occidentalis to it's knees... Not quite got the hang of the internet have you son? Keep trying.
They're not mean. That's the way they are, naturally aggressive when provoked or being approached too closely. We humans just have to do our parts by keeping a safe distance from them.
It's nature. Swans are protective. They know what humans can do. If you go near to one tending to an egg or child, it will bite you to crap. Otherwise, feed them to keep this magnificent bird happily living.
Sorry but I have to say you lot were idiots. That swan is WILD. Not tame. Not a pet. Not a fluffy toy to come closer and gawk at.
But what did you do? Walked up to the swan. Crowded the swan, and got attacked. Would you walk up to a wild animal of any other kind? Just cause it looks fluffy and nice does not mean it'll just stand there and ignore being crowded by people.
The swan is right! Just leave them alone... Do you like it when a crowd taller than you approaches you, surrounds you? No... Back off... Admire it from a distance! This swan is not mean.. Not at all! It rocks!!
