Yes indeed I use a lining called Silpaulin and the depth of the soil is only 4 inches lined with bricks on one side and a wall on one side. One really does not need to drain the water when I harvest the rice , i just stop watering about 2 weeks before. When there is excess rain the water overflows and i do ensure collecting it for other use in an underground sump.
