  • it was never a punt you moron they gave the points even if there was any doubt they would of gone to video ref

  • Is this at a high-altitude ground does anyone know? Even so that's ridiculous.

  • @JonnyHwd

Nope. That's Kings Park in Durban. The beach is 700 metres away.

  • @klempie1980 God save us all from his right boot.

  • @JonnyHwd No ways. I'm a Sharks and Springbok supporter. We will let him loose on all who come our way. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA

  • I know the video looks like it was filmed on a calculator but that really does seem to be a punt. Ball doesn't touch the floor before he kicks it.

  • @RaisuliLordoftheRiff Looks like somebodies never heard of Francois Steyn

  • @birkettN

You're quite right, I ended up on a video about him without knowing who he was.... right.

I know he's famous for big drop-goals but in this case it's a punt, unfortunately.

  • @RaisuliLordoftheRiff Dude it was a drop goal, get over yourself, it just a bad quality video so you cant see it properly. They wouldnt have given the points if it was a punt dumba**

  • @birkettN

Are you Francois Steyn's mum by any chance?

  • @RaisuliLordoftheRiff dude, your an idiot... shut up

  • @theguywiththeguitar9

Point negated due to basic lack of grammar.

  • @RaisuliLordoftheRiff fuck you.

  • @theguywiththeguitar9

Lol, okay mate. Credit for being brave enough to admit your intelligence has reached its limits on the big bad internet.

  • @RaisuliLordoftheRiff ok to be fair, that comment wasnt so much annoying as in my view funny. so yeah if you can turn these situations around fair play but it doesnt stop you being a penis.

  • @theguywiththeguitar9

    This is youtube.

  • Wales probably wished they had Francois Steyn last night.

  • PUNT

  • @Jessewinegum look at his drop kick against clermont it goes 20 meters further and watchign that there is no doubt it's not a punt on the other video

  • i swear he punted that :S looks like a punt

  • Its the only thing south africans do in rugby. Kick

  • @DONGJIN95 are you actually being serious? LOL. its just another thing that they excel at dude

  • thats a bad man right there.

  • How can that be 58m? thats with an angle 61m to be precise!

  • That aint steyn its patrick lambie

  • @MegaHurricanes11 100% sure thats steyn

  • @MegaHurricanes11 patrick lambie didn't play in 09..

  • biggest droppie i have seen. anyone seen a bigger one on youtube please tell me

  • @Barnsie14

Search Steyn moster drop goal (clermont)

    Bigger than this!

  • shame steyn is shit

  • He reminds me of me. Except thats the distance off my weak foot.

  • @Tehui1974 you made my day

  • @Tehui1974 hahahah yeah, jst ur casual warm up kicks? :P

  • He's un stoppable

  • @billyocrfc i think watching the little fairy from the rubme league would be a lot funnier to watch getting hit by a 315 pound guy then the NFL Kicker dominating in rugby. But thats just me. i like watching big hits instead of a lot of running/light jogging/standing with the occasional throwing of the body and barely touching the other guy so they both cry.

  • @criket123456 I don't want to start a argument over which one is better but they both have their benefits. Yes it is harder to kick a football but it would also be hilarious to try and see a football player doing what Steyn did there. Both require a different skill set. And to say rugby players don't hit each other properly, you get in there with them. Take off all the pads, and then say they hit weak. NFL hits are bigger but rugby hits are big too and that is without pads. Stop exaggerating.

  • @barsKuu Yeah I remember a college football player came over on an exchange to our uni once ... and he was going on about how rugby has little hits and all that jazz ... so we asked him to play just an average sunday afternoon game ... he wasn't really talking much after that ... at least not for a few days .. I think he lasted 4 minutes.

  • @criket123456 Nfl is shit. Just saying

  • Wilko against Carter ? Ftw I'd pick cater ! Anyday!

  • Plz guys don't fight over a shit sport like rugby union

  • This just shows what an asinine sport Onion is.

29 seconds of my life wasted, plus 10 to write this.

    BORING!

  • @goldfunk1 your a dumb cunt.

  • @goldfunk1 You spelled Union wrong...

  • @fakeclanAbaddon

    He is an Onion

  • 0:17 commentator says ' you've got to be choking me' lol xD

  • does anyone know who the commentator is in the beginning? whats his name?

  • @izzyvulaca joal stransky or huge bladon

  • @purrange45 it must be hugh! i love his voice!

  • he did another one like this against clermont-hes unbelievable

  • wow.

  • that, is awesome!

  • lol. "I have a boner" at the end

  • As I said in the Clermont video... Isac newton....back to the drawing board

  • @TheBruiser012 There is a video on here outlining the All Blacks cheating in the second test against SA. It was a horror show. In one clip, Smith cleared Kirchner away after running past the ruck! Which left a massive hole and a try was scored. Nobody else would ever get away with that, and it got much worse. Remember McCaw's 7 final warnings? But never did get that card.

  • @TheBruiser012 Carter kicked a 61/62m penalty against SA in 2006 i think. Besides jus cause wilko has kicked more points doesnt make him a better player, tbh u want a fly half tht can kick and score tries thts why carter holds the record with plenty of years still in him, steyn fantastic tho but u hav to realise his success rate isnt tht great.

  • @CptXXXEvilXXXFluff Wilko has been a third rate player ever since 03. In fact, he was wobbly in that WC. Carter has a terrible bootm has banged over some big ones, but is on a par with Pretorius with the boot. Of all the kickers I have seen Morne still rates tops. None have his accuracy or his distance, he has the blast radius of Frans Steyn. Frans rarely takes drops outside of his half, so his % needs to be put into context.

  • @TheBruiser012 Yes they're all better kickers than Carter but if I wanted a 5 pointer I'd back Carter over Wilkinson and Steyn. If I wanted a 3 pointer then you'd go with Wilkinson an Steyn.

  • @linkinparkforelife Frans is not a 10. He is in fact a 12. So the comparison is incorrect. Wilko has been a dud for all of the past seven years. Carter has great decision making but the work done by Nonu and Smith really mustn't go uncredited. Carter's form has been wanning for years, but that centre pairing is lethal. As a trio, they work well in a very well coached backline.

  • @TheBruiser012 fuck off the all blacks aren't cheaters and Dan Carter is the best flyhalf !

  • how annoyin must it be for opposition kickers! i mean tht guy takes a long 22 to push the sharks but realli he jus said 'here francois have a crack at a drop'. gotta be frustratin

  • @CptXXXEvilXXXFluff The worst was in 07. Larkham clears the ball from his 22 into SAs half, after absorbing a lot of pressure. Only for Frans to bang in a monster drop and win the game. He did another one against England which crucially sealed the game. When he needs to get them over, he does with great accuracy. I know he fluffs some, but most of those are done on a whim from outside his 22! LOL.

  • i play football [soccer].. and im trying to figure this out.. wats harder about this shot? power or accuracy?

  • @Rudy727 hes got the power to kick these over, unfortunately he misses about 585 off hes attempts, but its low risk and high reward.

  • @drukjohn1982 When he needs to get them he does, but I like I said to another 'tuber, most are done on a whim from 70 odd meters. That's what brings his % down. Though, Morne Steyn has almost as much distance but far greater accuracy.

  • @Rudy727 Both really, a drop kick is hard enough to pull off in itself (you are trying to get a perfect bounce on the point of the ball after all), so it is a very inaccurate kick, but equally a lot of pro players would struggle to punt it that distance in the first place. Most drops are attempted on about the 22, right in front of the posts, and even then only have about a 60% success rate.

  • @ScrumGuru well thats wat im saying.. its difficult enough to generate power.. and to be accurate just makes it that much harder.. reminds of Cristiano Ronaldo.. out of 54 free kicks, he scored 4.. now compare that to Juninho (:

  • Francois Steyn is the best Fly Half in the game.. he is a real hope for south African rugby next yea in the world cup

  • @IDGeneratorS and dan carters 2nd yeah right dan carter is the best flyhalf ever

  • @ArDz121cZ Dan Carter had a great 2005/06, but has been average since then. Wilko had a great 2002/03, but then fell away. Great players dominate for many years, like Matfield, Du Preez, O'Driscoll, Fourie, Dallaglio, Lomu, Mehrtens to name but a few. They stayed at the top for most of their careers. That's greatness.

  • Typical South Africa celebrate a drop kick like it was a try or something pfft

  • the dude next to him knew once he caught it, he will drop kick it

  • well he may as well kick it because he cant run it!!

  • @thebo101 then you havent seen the tribute

  • i love how his team mates just stand there to do his thing

  • Stephen larkams was better.. haha (coming from a wallabies fan). Nah this was a amazing kick freaking awesome

  • pussy

  • E.T

  • Wow

  • lmao. south africans getting excited by drop goals

  • The secret is his drops are so precise that he can just punt it.

  • holy s**t.... i dont think there is anyone else on the planet as good as him in drop goals

  • "Your got to be choking me" 0:15 crack up

  • Springbok kickers are the best drop goal scorers in the world , there is a few namely Morne Steyn , Joel Stranksy , Gavin Lawless , Naas Botha , Peter Grant to name a few

  • darren lockyer, state of origin match 3, 2010... heroic

  • @hilldl92 it was shit, 40m isn't impressive. 60m is.

    Nrl is so unbelivably gay..

  • @hilldl92 annual rugby league gang rape is perhaps also heroic in league supporters eyes. "look at me mum i can kick the ball only 60% as far as that union bloke, can i please have a lollypop?" DL

  • im a huge allblacks supporter but man this guy is a fantastic player not so much on attack but that kik is crazy

  • was that even a drop kick? ball didn't look like it hit the ground...

  • how can he do that?

  • wtf was that!?

  • you should have a look to the one he puts last week with his french club racing vs clermont, amazing

  • was that match played at altitutde?

  • @Blaaland88 no at Durban on the coast

  • @222DJ222 oh right, fair enuf

  • freaking awesome...thums up if ou like =D

  • @4054613 - And yet the trophy cabinet is full? Pathetic.

  • Doug Flutie

  • Francois Steyn drop kick ratio for 2009 super 14...... 1 from 18. Only saffas drop kick becuase they dont have the guster to go over for tries. He attempted more drop kicks alone then all Australia players for the whole year. Pathetic

  • @4054613 Lets see, australia were beaten heavily in 2009, even Scotland did them. So poor example of tactical genius. The logic "They won because they are pussies" is flawed.

  • @4054613 Don't you see every post game interview the teams always say they are trying to play to their strengths. Here is a team that's able to do that and you're flawing them for that? Funny if Australia had a player that could do the same you wouldn't be crying like this.

  • @4054613 haha ha ha mate you crack me up, the point of professional rugby is to score points how you do it is irrelevant fuck , i would expect a dirty aussie to understand that!

  • @4054613 Guess what fuck nut, it's called having a brain and knowing how to take advantage of a skill you have over the enemy. That's why humans are clever and are top of the food chain, not fuckin monkeys like you.

  • @4054613

    Sit the f_c_ DOWN

  • u have to be kidding. Steyn has it all. And I'm an Aussie, so don't accuse me of bias.

  • wilkinson works way better under pressure and has way more experience

also his tackling ability and game knowledge make him the best player on the field.

  • @IgnaceR152

didnt frans steyn fuck wilkinson up in the world cup final??? i rest my case pommy cock sucker...

  • @giovanni69ify the world cup final was a total fraud

    bad call by video ref

  • @giovanni69ify no not really there wasnt much direct confrontation between them and steyn didnt score as many points even though his side one, its not like he smashed him into the ground he just won

  • Fuck NFL that pussy game!!!

  • those who think Doug Flutie did something spectacular with his drop goal in NFL definitely haven't seen this

  • who gives a fuck about nfl

  • @PainDealer86 i watched that video and it was like 20 metres out!!!

  • @PainDealer86 have you seen the pointed end of an american football? it's like telling a rugby player to throw a rugby ball over-hand for more than fifty meters. It basically impossible. stop comparing rugby and football. they are completely different sports.

  • @PainDealer86 Well obviously you've never seen the difference between a football and the beach ball that you guys use.footballs weren't meant to be kicked. they are aerodynamic idiot. lemme just say this. put 11 huge men in front of that guy. give him a football. tell him to try the same thing from 5 yards away. let the hilarity ensue.

  • @criket123456 and then take that nfl kicker and put him in a top level rugby match, i think i know which will be funnier

  • @criket123456 I have not just seen one, I have actually drop kicked one quite many times. If I can hit a target from 30m, any decent kicker should have no problem from 50m. And btw there's less chance for a kicker in American football to be tackled while kicking than in rugby so those 11 "huge" men wouldn't be much of a problem.

  • @PainDealer86 Absolutley no one thinks its "spectacular". Just kind of crazy because they never do it in the NFL

  • I agree with tunemyguitarnow, aeiral ping pong is killing the game.

The ELV on the kicking topic is rapidly proving to be one of the biggest mistakes in terms of the laws for a long time. For those who dont know, you now cannot pass the ball into the 22, then kick it directly into touch. Instead of promoting people to run, its lead to aeiral ping pong.

My solution is this: if a player kicks the ball outside the 22 and is caught without bouncing, its a scrum from where the kick was taken.

  • "Straight into that north-easterly... and it's over."

  • jesus that was an atleast 70 meter kick

  • this guys talent will hopefully stop ping pong rugby....along with kearny he got some boot too but not as good as this guys

  • @tunemyguitarnow

Don't think anybody has the range that Steyn can generate. Kearney looks a superb running fullback while I still think Steyn is best at 12.

  • kearney does hav a range like steyn, he just has bad accuracy sometimes and he doesnt tak many drop kicks. ive seen him kick as long as steyn at UCD where he plays local

  • @tunemyguitarnow, this guys talent will hopefully stop ping pong rugby? mate, hes in a team the exploits ping pong rugby so i dont know what you are on about. very talented player tho. peace.

  • @tunemyguitarnow

Good point. Experienced fullbacks would be very judicious in kicking back to him.

  • @tunemyguitarnow there's never been ping pong rugby in the south, just the north

  • This sort of shit is whyi follow league more now. Rugbys turned into a contact version of soccer.

  • did the ball actualt bounce?

  • Yup, you cant really see with this poor quality video though.

  • South Africa are the currently the best kicking team in the world. Not pretty, but damn effective.

  • Fuck he has a massive boot wonder how big his feet are

  • South African rugby and Steyn are the real deal
