my guess is that holding the guitar on this leg would be easier for him cuz his body is smaller and arms are shorter. he'd be able to reach and control his left-hand fingering a lot better.

Yeah, if you get classical guitar lesson they 'teach you to rest the guitar on your left leg and to keep the guitar's neck up high'.

There is so much tedious and trivial old fashioned stuff in guitar lessons ... I'm not surprised when young people give up on learning an instrument when it is made into something like maths.

Music is Feeling and expressing that feeling.

It's Not how you hold your instrument - but how you play it !

about the leg thing, the right leg is just normal (for a righty) but classical and some finger-style guitar players will play on their left leg for better angles of their hands. Its just a preference.

@VxTran008: I personally find it impossible to do it on my left leg with my Breedlove concert, though, it is WAY too big XD So I just stick to the right.
