I agree it"s like we have evolved backward awarness wise,but really I think some times we have to go 3 steps forward and 2 steps back to really get it only because of the ego,and the ego can be undone with help from the Holy Spirit.

Tools like A Course In Miracles are one way in which we can shorten the time it takes to remember what we have only forgotten.

That goes back to the story of Adam and Eve(whether literally true or just a metaphor it doesn't matter because the "meaning" is true.) They fell into lower consciousness(duality) and forgot who they truly were.
