Would you get mad at me if I told you that over last summer (10-ish weeks) I read 53 books? None of which were shorter than the 3rd Harry Potter book?
Wow. I really should keep a count of the books I read, since I usually end up going "Oh, I've read that" everytime someone picks up a book. I'd love to do that challenge next year, but by then I'll be studying English Lit. at uni, so really that'd be cheating.
My favorite book when I was little was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Bloomability is my favorite book ever, even though it's a children's book. I am/was in love with Guthrie.
you should read 'bella at midnight' by diane stanley! it is a really good book that i read along with just ella and the lovely bones! [although you have seem to have read those 2 books already!]
omg kristina, that book "cloudy with a chance of meatballs" i had when i was little... i'm sure it's still around my house somewhere, anyways the other day i could not for the life of me remember the title! and i was sad, because it was one of my favorites. Thanks for jogging my memory!
Kristina, you've inspired me to do the same thing that your doing, and next year, I'm reading 50 books by Januray 1st, 2010. I love reading, but all I've read for about the last 5 years is Harry Potter and Twilight, so I've decided to "expand my book vocabulary" and read read read, and you're like 75% responsible for that.
Over winter break, I decided to catch up on my own book challenge, which was to read as many books as I did last year (92), which clearly isn't going to happen as I'm on book number 48, and that's counting the one I started rereading on Chapter 6. But anyway, I always get too many books and this was no exception since I ended up checking out...35 books for a 4 week break. *sigh* I am so overly optimistic.
I have one question.... if anyone can answer, how do you edit (like cut out a piece of the clip, or adding a video in the video..) on a digital camera?
thats so funny! i go to the library at least 3 times a week and all of the librarians know my name. when they see me coming their all like " oh no, shes BACK!!". its so cool.
since you've read nick and norah's infinite playlist, I can tip you with another book by david levithan that I qabsolutely LOVED. it is called boy meets boy, not hard to reed, supercute and really inspiring.
go nerdfighter!! :D
P.S: can you please tell me if you are going to read i, have read it or else? :)
Are they going to put up a video from the mp3 project? All the ones on their channel now are awesome, though I haven't been able to participate in one yet.
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS! I used to love that book . . . just had to get that out there. It seems like your picture-book reading session is bringing out a lot of nostalgia in the comments! :-)
I set out to read 100 books this year, it's a new years resolution I've tried to complete twice before. So far I'm almost at 91, because I couldn't bring myself to cheat and have therefore read big bricksized books.
There really is no way for me to take back what I said, but I assure you that I did not mean it in a bad way. I just read really fast. (Twilight series in 4 days because you recommended it) My apologies.
Keep up what you are doing, being that busy and in school at the same time is the only thing that kept me from dropping out. I worked full time, went to class full time, headed a major engineering society and managed to have a great social life. College gets boring unless you keep occupied.
I used to read really fast and then I got lazy with reading and now it takes longer than it used to for me to read stuff now. I think my writing skills also decreased too which makes me sad. I'm planning on getting back to my reading speed by reading a lot of books.
Kristina, I've decided to tell you that you should listen to the band Hey Monday. Because you're Monday. And they're Monday. Um but they're also awesome.
Also I'm trying to read 50 too, as a copy cat and all. From one birthday to the next. And I'm failing. So bad! I blame working retail.
That's one way of getting back up to parr. Also did you know there's a sequel to "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs? It's called "Pickles to Pittsburgh".
When I just told my friend about your "reading challenge" she thought I meant mentally challenged and THAT'S why you were reading children's books. LOL.
Me and my mom have a book reading challenge too. Starting January 1st we have to read 1oo books in one year, and if we do were going to give eachother a $100 shopping spree, but to make it more challenging it can't be books we've read before, and we can't read books more than 3-4 grades under our reading level.
Well, you never did limit your book challenge to novels so I guess we can accept that. It snowed in Houston, TX five days ago and it was awesome. And I made a video about it and in the beginning I say,"Today is awesome because it's snowing in Houston, Texas!" Bye!
I work overnights and when I left work it was -8* and felt like -35* AND I spun out on the freeway..... oh, and one of the turn lanes was NOT plowed and I almost couldn't even LEAVE work! haha
But LOVE the Slytherin way to do the book challenge! I know how you feel, I used to read ALL the time then I hung out with friends, got the internet, had a child, got married, and got a full time job =(
After my Literacy in Early Childhood Education class this past semester, I have gained a new appreciation for children's books. And after writing that, it's definitely a good thing I'm going to be a first grade teacher.
Well, 33 full-length books and 10 picture books is still a pretty big number of books to read in less than one year. So kudos for that.
But surely not all of those are from YOUR childhood? I know you're young, but...Where Willy Went came out in 2005 and The Best Book to Read was released six months ago! :)
now we're tied at the book challenge. I've been doing this for a couple years and this is the closest to 50 I've ever gotten. I know you want to read 50 and complete the challenge, but you should still look at it this was, you read 33 new novels (and 10 old picture books), and that kinda makes you bamf (but not Neville Longbottom bamf, sorry.)

Seriously is that Willy book a sex education book? It kinda looks like the sort of thing you would use to explain the facts of life.
