No more World's Fairs! At the rate technology is going, i do not wanna know what's in store for tomorrow. Soon, even the college campus shall go the way of Border's Books, FYE records, and the USPS. I say in about 15 years, Those blue mailboxes may be worth something!
Yes, thanks for posting this. I too, was a little kid back then but as the video unfolds, I now remember so much of the Fair. Love the shot of the Ford pavillion, that was one of my favorites. If I recall, yo got into a car which would then take you from pre-historic times to the future. Too cool!
Love the music ,so haunting and beautiful.Like the fair itself- me as a six year old boy from Bergen county NJ experienced it.Loved it always loved it loved it.thanx so much.

wow, i never thought the park i use to play soccer a lot was not a park before...how the fuck did they do that??? now i know what are those weird looking things that they show in MEN IN BLACK as UFOs haha america when it was more racist then is now...shit i wonder if black and Hispanic were allowed there for the views, other then use of entertainment
Hey, Thanks - It was really nice of you to share this home made film with us! I was quite young when the fair happened - I remember the evening before going, having to go to bed early because we were going to drive to NYC to the World's Fair! I especially liked the pavillion with the African dancers -- I imitated them and my father said, "Hey, that's good - you are dancing like them!" Did the Mexican (or other) dancer also climb a tall pole and balance- anyone recall that act?
My most memorable '64 NY World's Fair attraction: The "Pieta" on display in the Vatican Pavilion. Although as a kid I couldn't appreciate the importance of Michelangelo's masterpiece — I went bonkers at seeing 007's Aston-Martin on display in the amusement area.
I was there in 1965 as a young kid of 5 and still remember much of it. I recall the Sinclair Dinos. the Ford Mustang, and recalling seeing the James Bond Aston Martin DB5 with all the gadgets. took the monorail and seeing all the pavilions, Those where the days. It is too bad that kids today are only interested in video games and texting. It was the World's Fair that got me interested in science and space.
I was there, but don't remember which year. My memories include Belgian waffles, The Flume Ride, It's a Small World, and the molded plastic dinosaurs. Thanks for sharing!!
Good quality video and good photography. Thanks for the memories, I was 15 and we went NYC to visit. Stayed at a Hotel in Manhattan called the Dixie, which does not exist now. The Fair was awesome I particularly liked the GM Pavillion and the concept cars I saw there. At Ford, the newly arrived Mustang was the star. Now eveytime I go to Epcot it reminds me of the Fair perhaps because of the Pavillions architecture or something. Thank you for posting.
i am 20 years old right now. the person i look up to is walt disney and he made a huge break through there. i just wish that i was able to experence that and if you did you were very lucky. i would give anything to see it and to have it restored to how it used to be. this looks to be like the best worlds fair. thank you for posting this video and letting me experence it
i was born in 1989 walt disney is the person who i look up to and his attractions there were a huge hit. so i started doing research and wow!!!! i wish i was around to see all of that. this world fair looks amazing probably 1 of the best and i would give anything to be able to see it and have it restored to its orginality
OMG, I always bike in Flushing Meadow Park when I can and had always wondered about its former glory. I was born in 69, 4 years after its closing. I wish I had been born earlier just to see this... I had just introduced the park to my GF on a bike ride, and she couldn't understand why the state never maintained it....
I visited the Fair with my Dad and brothers a number of times in 64-65. Got to sit in James Bond's car....very cool. The Space Age. Modern Times, the Microwave Oven.....Viet Nam hadn't quite heated up yet.....maybe this was the End of The World as We (I) Knew It. Great work, thanks...
I was a young boy when we took the train from Reading Pa to NY for a suprise weekend one Friday morning. We stayed downtown I think the Pan Am Hotel?
It was incredible, I still have a guide book from it. Where we better people then? Futurama by GM. GE's showcase of progress or somehting like that, Chryslers Turbine and of course the Mustang.
It's a small wolrd by Walt Disney still exists today.Joe Leinweber Jr, Ret USAF
Wonderful video and music, brought back many happy memories. Saw the Fair in October 1964 (senior HS class trip, we stayed at Stadium View Inn) and again in May 1965. Thanks for posting, I've played this over and over.
You captured my feelings too.Even though I later realized how manipulative and marketed the whole thing was, I was still absolutely enchanted by the Fair. As an eleven-year-old, the Fair opened my eyes to creativity and wonders. Thank-you.
Wonderful video! I was only 5 years old when my parents took me to the fair - my only memory is of eating waffles with strawberries and my dad hitting me because I told my grandma "I hate you!" (kids....lol) I ended up with a bloody nose....Ahhhhh memories, lol!
Charming, heartwarming, and heartbreaking. Many of the relatives we visited during the fair have passed on. I was so young, and these films bring back cherished memories. Many thanks.
It's really nice to see the fair in motion instead of from still photos. Thanks for posting this, from someone who wishes they were around to see it in person!
Thanks for the post - this is much better than many home movies in that the cinematographer stayed on most subjects long enough for the viewer to get a real impression. Plus, the zoom was not used unless the effect was obviously desirable.
It really helps me recall the atmosphere at the fair!
I wish I could go back in time to the fair. It looked like there was so much to see.. The only things I remember are the huge tire and the dinosaurs.. oh and of course It's A Small World.. everything else is just a blur.
the US' pavilion was garbage at the 2010 expo, i was so mad, to find that out.

I was 6 and 7 years old when I went to the World's Fair, I went many times since my family lived in Manhattan.
I remember my sisters pushing me around in the cars for kids.
This is sad because it brings back memories of my parents sister and Aunts who have passed on.
It was magic for a 6 year old and it still brings back memories of better and simpler times in New York City.
