I think that its great that you limit your videos.I think that when video uploaders become habitual and load videos every five minutes,it moves the intimacy away from the viewers, away from communicating with video responses, because its like a game of catch up.There is hardly any time the uploader dedicates to actually getting in touch with his viewers because he or she is too busy with the next video.Sorry if I am being too jaded here, but sadly thats how I feel.Otherwise great thoughts and list.
@rowanmunro - I'm part of a collab channel, so that involves me posting on a schedule (Thursday), but otherwise I basically post something when I feel like it. The guys who post every day like Philip DeFranco are striving to earn revenue (although I must admit I think DeFranco is pretty funny). They invite comments, but do they actually respond to them? Or is it another way to increase visibility? And they always pester viewers about "liking" and subbing.
@CineRam That is true..I always find myself laughing when these guys ask a question and ask for posts and expect thousands to flock to their comment squares but never seem to answer anyone. Its like they are talking to themselves. Is it some kind of viral self-adoration or pevertery?I have fun with your channel, because you are a purist and that is rare. You are genuine and appear to be doing this because you actually enjoy doing this and not feeingl pressured into chasing numbers.
Thanks for the link.I agree totally with you.Another reason I un-subscribed from the big channels.Just in my honest opinion, they seem to be self indulging in their purchases.I would like to know the quality of the movie and the actual TRANSFER QUALITY of these movies.Useful information, not information about how pretty the cover is,how it smells blah blah blah, its just a parading of their collections. These guys are really moving their once interesting channels into a tedious, competitive parading.
I'm with you on people owning multiple editions. If I do get a new edition of something I always sell the previous one. I only do it if it has new features though or it's a blu ray. Not an uncool list at all! That's what's great about lists...everyone's is different. Ahh I forgot to mention MMMM. Definitely an honorable mention for me. I haven't seen Trust, Margin Call, The Beaver, Young Adult, High Ground or Our Idiot Brother yet. I need to catch up!
@CineRam I actually need to catch up on Big Love too. I think I stopped after Season 3 maybe? All I remember is one of the wives of Roman(maybe...not sure) who had long hair was driving a truck and her hair got caught in something and it broke her neck..I think. The details are pretty hazy. It's been a while.
@theInnerdvdPattern - Season 3 was excellent, what with Roman's trial and Nicki secretly working in the DA's office. I'm about to start Season 5, which I believe is the last one for the series.
@CineRam Yeah I think Season 5 is indeed the last season. I barely remember that stuff...it's probably been almost 2 years since I've watched it. I really liked Amanda Seyfried when she was on the show. I unfortunately can't say that too much about her movie career though.
@theInnerdvdPattern - Indeed, I saw both of the films she was in this year and they're terrible. I was thinking of doing a special video on In Time...that might be fun.
I agree with the gist of what you're talking about. I can't really stand DVD listers posing as reviewers. It gets really annoying looking forward to someone's review, then finding out it's just a product review.
I actually made a sketch on the subject about a year ago.
Now you know I like my Steelbooks, but if I make a video of one that is of a film I already reviewed, I will mostly talk about the steelbook, and state there is a review on my channel already. However I do think it is important to watch the extras, and talk about them and the movie itself, if that subject has not been already been covered
collecting is a waste of money IMO. imagine if you had an entire room full of rare VHS? it wouldnt be worth any money, and wouldnt hold any sentimental value either. Updates have become really common, I watch some of them and actually feel better because I didnt buy all that lol
Great video Scott!! I hope you are doing well. I have been offered to sign up for partnership as well, but like you I want to be in complete control of my channel. The important thing is that everybody should just have fun on here and that's all.
Also, I am really looking forward to your video on Joss Whedon. I am a big fan of Joss Whedon and so I can't wait to see your video.
@Rhine1988 - Actually, it will be my next series. I'll cover the films he's scripted, rewritten, and done patch jobs on. I'll devote a video to Serenity and each of his four TV series, plus Dr. Horrible. Not sure when I'll start, but it'll be soon...The Avengers is less than four months away!
great video man and great video response. good to see other people like source code i really find that movie got a lot of hate when it came out and i liked it a lot.
@InsaneGamer66 - I don't remember Source Code being disliked...the people I heard from thought it was pretty clever! Now The Adjustment Bureau, that's another story.
You bought up some good points. Yes, I could ignore certain vids and I do, but sometimes its hard when thats all that is being uploaded lately. All my old favourites (cjmolina, caitlin, puckbond etc) have really dropped back from making vids and it sucks. All we seem to get now is everyone just picking up the same new releases etc and there's nothing wrong with that, its just not what I'm into for the most part.
@ANDREWBALLINA - I actually sub a pretty wide variety of people on the site, so I'm never at a loss for something different to see. I'd recommend you checking out more collab channels like TheRoughCuts--they do reviews on a weekly basis, and a lot of them. My collab is going to be starting up again, of course...Do you watch HouseOfHorror?
@TheMovieRewind - Abso-floggin-lutely! I love Soderbergh, can't wait to see it. I would have reviewed Fincher's latest as well, but I really did not feel very passionately about it one way or another, so I thought my vid would not have been very interesting. Thanks for watching!
