Everyone's skin is different, but night creams make me break out really bad. They are too oily. So many people have told me to use them. I stopped using them, and then the lady at Ulta told me I need to use one even though I have oily skin. So I bought one. The same thing happened. Huge pimples.
That's good to know we use the same gel for acne - I don't really know why hehe. But I apply a little little bit of it before going to sleep because it kind of dehydrates (?) my skin. Sorry for the weird question but do you keep this product in the refrigerator? Because I've been reading something about that...
Ah been hearing some stuff about Estee Lauder's advanced night repair. LOOKS LUSH. Anyhow, could you do a vid (if you haven't already) on your favourite makeup cleansers/removers/cleansing oils? Cheers! x
You like Anne Hathaway. Purely amazing. REGENEVIVE cleanser is the right combination of thick but not oily and still dries quickly. I have dry skin, this is great for me.
I use clindoxylas well!!! That is the reason why my acne stopped.. well not really but majority of it :)! I have clear skin only and only because of that.. i use all body shop products.. so i have the green tea face wash, toner, and this tiny bottle with this serum thing and i use clindoxyl and then green tea cream :) its perfectttttttt my skin is clear because of that :)
I watched this video when you first uploaded it, and just rewatched it. Enjoyed it just as much if not more than the first time that I saw it :) Great video, Jen! xxLauren
@frmheadtotoe would you reccommend clearasil face perfectign wash?? my friend says it works amazing for her but she has better skin than i do, have you ever tried clearasil or could you try it nd tell me how it goes??
I use the body shop lotions (tea tree oil) and cleansers (seaweed) and then invisible zinc for sunscreen. That's really it, apart from St Ives exfoliator and then some essentia for scars (which isn't really helping lol)
I've tried the Eucerin Sensitive Daily Facial Moisturizer with SPF 30 and it didn't work for me. I thought that because it was sensitive it wouldn't effect my skin at all but, in fact, it actually irritated my skin and caused like a mini rash/breakout. But, this is probably due to the fact that my skin isn't sensitive. So if it works for Jen, and you have sensitive skin, it will probably work! Everyone is different :)
Thanks for your video on your skincare routine! I was wondering if it was possible for you to upload a video on your makeup removing routine before your skincare routine! I am a makeup noob and want to make sure I remove all my makeup properly to prevent breakouts! Thanks!!
I was doing some online shopping and I've been reading/watching reviews on the eucerin moisturizer with spf 30. I don't like to spend money on things that don't work. Anywayss, your review made me click the "add to shopping cart" Thanks. I hope it works. :)
JEN! Did you wear makeup everyday when you had acne? and did it affect the acne in any way for u? I'm seriously debating whether or not to wear makeup cuz i know it makes it worse :(
have you ever reviewed Freya? I'm dying to know how it works! just saw it in a mag! Also instead of eucerin i use cetaphil very similar but more gentle
I thought Differin was only usable at night because apparently the sun makes it uneffective.. That's what my derm said. She prescribed me Clindoxyl and Differin and I use Clindoxyl in the morning and differin at night. I do want to try your cleasner, hopefully my derm will prescribe it. :)
this was incredibly helpful. =) I have really sensitive dry skin too (finally someone with similiar skin! ha), & everything I've tried store-bought has either been too harsh or ineffective, or has clogged my pores when it said it wouldn't. so I'm definately gonna look into prescription products, start using night cream instead repeating the regular day lotion, & look into night serums & topical treatments--I think that'll greatly help my skin. thanks again =)
When I went to the derm 2 years ago, he gave me the same face wash and Retin A and after a week, I couldn't even go outside because the Retin A burned my face off. I couldn't even let water touch my face for almost a month otherwise it just burned/stinged. I'm too hesitant to go back although I do need a refill of the wash which controlled my acne pretty good by itself.
when i first went to the dermatologist, he gave me differin .3 and it gave me the worst rash. flackiness. so he ended up giving me the trentinion cream and it works way better. but im glad to hear that these skin care products are working for you. :)
Why do you use Differin as your last step? I recently got Differin cream 0.01%, and it's peeling like crazy.. almost a rash... should i put on lotion first then differin? or Differin first then the lotion?
@clontap88 Differin made my skin sensitive (peeling, breaking out more, etc) for about 3 months and then it rapidly improved my skin. I don't think it matters whether you put on lotion or differin first, but I like the lotion first because my skin gets dry after washing right away.
@clontap88 If your skin is that sensitive, apply a lotion or cream prior to the retinoid, or mix it with the retinoid. This is known as buffering, and basically reduces the efficacy of the retinoid - thus, less irritation.
@frmheadtotoe my dermatologist included differin gel .1% in my medication, but i i don't know if i can actually use it because i am so scared about this stuff.,.i've read a lot of negative reviews about this... haay ! :(
can i still wear makeups while i'm using this medicine? please i need your answer !
@myuri12 Yes you can wear makeup over it and Differin is awesome, but your skin will get worse for about 3 months or so before it gets better. Stick with it until at least 4 months and your skin will improve a lot!
@myuri12 It works different on different people. I was actually allergic to it and broke out in hives and had very raw skin, but then my friend used it and swears by it. You'll never know till you try it. I would suggest for you to test it somewhere other than your face first though to see if you're allergic.

hi jen :) i love your channel, great inspirational videos, youre such a sweet person! i have a question,do you have any tips or recommended products to remove acne scars? cuz i had acnes when i was in junior and senior high. theyre all gone now but thats not the end yet cuz they left acne scars on my face, esp my cheeks :( thanks!
i have really sensitive skin too. -__- i have really dry areas, like the sides of my nose, the area below the nose, and my chin. whenever i get sunlight, my skin starts to get red on my cheeks and it gets oily...i wash my face at night, but i probably should wash it twice a day.

I'm looking into buying an olay night cream although i'm not sure if i will buy the same one you bought. do you only wear the cream in the winter or does it also work in the summer ?
Hi Jen, as your skin always looks flawless in your tutorials/vlogs, it is comforting to know that you still see a dermatologist. I wish I did when I was your age. But, it's never too late. I have my first derm exam this week. Thank you for sharing how you take care of your skin. BTW, what eye shadow shades are you wearing in this video? It's very natural looking. Thank you! :)
where did you get your eucerin moisturizer?? Because my skin is sensitive too and eucerin has worked perfectly ever since. So it would really help if you could tell where you got the moisturizer.. Thanx in advance! :)
@nailpolish428 I found mine next to the body lotions at Target. For some reason they put the Eucerin face lotion by the body lotions instead of by the other face lotions.
A common form of preservative is a formaldehyde releasing preservative. DMDM Hydantoin is used in many Olay products, and is probably in your beloved Regenerist Night cream. Take a peek. Anyway, you shouldn't really be concerned. Preservatives are important to keep bacteria out of your products. While some are irritating and problematic, I haven't had any problems here, and it sounds like you don't either since you're happily using it!
Hi jen. I used to have the same problem with acne but my mom brought me to a dermatolgist andddd I have a similar skin routine with different and duac! lol it made such a huge difference!
hey jen, so i bought the strivectin cream, and i noticed after couple days of using it, i noticed the dryness under my eyes as well, just wondering, would it go away eventually??
Hi Jen. I am currently in UK. And i cant find Re-10 Wash (sodium sulfacetamide 10%). Do you know any other cleanser with sodium sulfacetamide 10%??? Thanks!
Hi Jen, I just want to ask that I've got some red marks on my cheeks, they look like pimples but they're actually not. Could you recommend anything to reduce these red marks? Thank you!
And one more thing, where did u get ur top? It's so cute :X
@MiyukiAoi if they are hyperpigmentation spots from old acne, you can try applying vitamin E oil to them. If they are blood blisters, you may want to talk to a dermatologist.
Hi! I see that you use the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. Have you tried Lancome's Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate? I'm thinking about trying the Estee Lauder but don't want to commit to it since it's so expensive. I like Lancome's Genifique but wondering if there is something better out there. What differences have you seen in your skin since using it? Thanks. :)
@charitomay I haven't tried Lancome's Genifique since it's so pricey but with the EL Advanced Night Repair, my skin is noticeably baby soft and more hydrated the morning after I use it. I haven't been using it recently though since my bottle ran out!
i use skin care from a few different brands but, i also have a very sensitive skin and i wonder, since you mentioned something about your skin needed to get used to stuff.. i feel little irritation when i use my annayake exfoliating scrub thingie, it is for all skin types, could it be so that indeed it is just that my skin needs to get used to it?
I think this seems to be a common question. For topical prescriptions, such as Duac and Differin, in what order do you apply them on your face? Does it come after serum and then moisturizer? Thank you.
Hey girl, I would like to comment, since you are Korean, you should make yourself aware of your amazing products in South Korea! Sulwhasoo, Su:m37, IOPE, and The History of Whoo are great Korean skin care brands. Support your skin care brands frmheadtotoe!!! They are amazing, and they work to treat the skin :) Love Korean skin care products <3
Is there a reason why you apply your moisturizer before applying your prescription products (duac/differin)? I'm just curious how you determine which one to put on your face first. Thanks!
duac is my HG acne cream love it, our skin routines are basically the same and it was amazed! it was so weird same eye cream, face wash, acne creams everything haha . SO with that being said since we use same products, i been wanting to get a clarisonic, how often do you use your clarisonic and do you use your normal face wash with it?
duac is my HG acne cream love it, our skin routines are basically the same and it was amazed. i use the same wash but different brand. I used to use differin but it was not strong enough. switched to tazorac and thats pretty harsh but it works wonders. try retin a micro i been using that lately at night its really good.
@pennyandme I only use the duac in the mornings and the differin at night. I wouldn't want my skin to be extra sensitive from using them both right at the same, but I do wear them in the same day just at different times.
@veradnob many people say that proactiv works for a couple of months but then after those months it comes back even worse. many dermatologist (korean) say dont get proactiv!
Hi Jen ^_^. I heart you so much, love your videos!!! I was just wondering what you use to remove your makeup? What product would you highly recommend for removing heavy makeup like bbcream, smokey eye, etc. Also, what product would you highly recommend for removing blackheads? Thanks!
can u give us an update of how you liked the strivectin eye cream? i know you taped this video in august so now that you had some time to really see how you liked it.. i just wanted to know your input before i forked out the money for this eye cream. thanks! :o)
I use the calming lotion from eucerin... i tried the protect euc. at 20 and it hurt me but, iven o sunblock so i should probably get on that. ive not acne but sup-mild rosacea so, i know sensetive skin plights. ret.a fried my skin but i hear they are better now. thank for sharing! (purpose sensetive skin ppl if you dont wear lots of makeup too is where its at n its 3-6 bucks)!
@HelenKkay Differin doesn't work as a spot treatment since it's a product that needs some time to get full effectiveness, but I did start out just applying it to certain areas where I needed it more because all-over can be too harsh before you get used to it.
omg wha did u say when u went to the dermatalegest(srry if i spelled that wrong) i am askin cuz my face always breaks out if i use make up or if i use something over the counter. and my acne is in a bad stage idk wha to do....
hi jen, i was wondering if the products you use at night (ie night creams) are ok for people with really oily skin, which is what i have. i've considered night creams in the past, but worry that it will make me more oily than i already am. i currently use aveeno clear complexion face wash and moisturizer both contain salicylic acid .5%. i worry about going away from those two and using moisturizers with no acne fighting products. please help!! thank you
Hi Jen! I have a question, I am 15 years old (High School Junior) and I have had acne since I was 11 (7th Grade). I don't know why my acne isn't going away! I have tried everything! My mom keeps saying that it will go away when I get older. What do you think? Do you think that I should go visit a dermatologist?
What would you recommend for people who have oversized pores and blackheads? I have really bad blackheads around my nose and huge pores on the apples of my cheeks. I've heard pore strips are bad and I've used a cleanser. But it doesn't seem to help :( Please reply back!!!
if you want to use the clarisonic twice daily, theres a delicate brush that is for those with extra sensitive skin, and is more gentle than the sensitive brush head that the clarisonic comes with
i was going to buy vanicream but i notice it has white petroleum.. i tend to avoid face moisturizers with petroleum or with mineral oil .. how truly harmful are those products because i do want to buy the vanicream the the petroleum bothers me since i do break out
@cupcakesRyummi I used differin for years and was awesome then stopped working as well. Now I use Epiduo prescribed by doctor and I think it's better than differin ever was as it has the benzol peroxide in it.
How do you put the StriVectin Eye cream on? pad it under your eye area? or massage in circular motion ? :( I got mine but not sure if I m using the right way. Don't wanna waste the cream using the wrong method if there's one! Thanks Jen :)
hi jenn! Thanks for sharing your skin care routines. Because of this review, I went to see my derm and requested for the wash. It's an amazing cleanser but the one that I have doesn't foam/bubble. I was wondering if your Re-10 wash foams/bubbles when you put it on your face. I'm so use to soap foaming that i feel i might be wasting the product~ what pharmacy do you go to cause i use costco and they swear no generic form of this wash (OVACE) exist! o_O
hi jenn, i notice u don't use toner? i always read that toner is one of the 3basic skincare regime. but recently i was told it's not very useful. so i was wonder ing what's ur opinion about toner.
When you use the differin do you also use your moisturizer? Because I use differin cream (0.1) and im unsure if im supposed to just use it alone or not? It doesnt really specify.
@mariberrylena yes, absolutely always use moisturizer, especially if you are using prescription medicines! The prescriptions can sometimes dry your skin out so you need to make sure to hydrate your skin well. :)
i used duac for 2 years and my skin improved, but acne didnt go away.
now im on roaccutane - expensive and effort, but my acne has gone away

where did you get your eucerin moisturizer??

It's also in your Eucerin SPF30 lotion, by the way. :)

Thanks. :)
charitomay 11 months ago
@charitomay I haven't tried Lancome's Genifique since it's so pricey but with the EL Advanced Night Repair, my skin is noticeably baby soft and more hydrated the morning after I use it. I haven't been using it recently though since my bottle ran out!
frmheadtotoe 11 months ago
@frmheadtotoe They're both pretty pricey. : / My sample of Genifique has run out so I'm considering other options.

i use skin care from a few different brands but, i also have a very sensitive skin and i wonder, since you mentioned something about your skin needed to get used to stuff.. i feel little irritation when i use my annayake exfoliating scrub thingie, it is for all skin types, could it be so that indeed it is just that my skin needs to get used to it?

I think this seems to be a common question. For topical prescriptions, such as Duac and Differin, in what order do you apply them on your face? Does it come after serum and then moisturizer? Thank you.

duac is my HG acne cream love it, our skin routines are basically the same and it was amazed! it was so weird same eye cream, face wash, acne creams everything haha . SO with that being said since we use same products, i been wanting to get a clarisonic, how often do you use your clarisonic and do you use your normal face wash with it?
speedychic025 1 year ago
duac is my HG acne cream love it, our skin routines are basically the same and it was amazed. i use the same wash but different brand. I used to use differin but it was not strong enough. switched to tazorac and thats pretty harsh but it works wonders. try retin a micro i been using that lately at night its really good.

@pennyandme Benoyle peroxide can't be mixed with retinol

@pennyandme I only use the duac in the mornings and the differin at night. I wouldn't want my skin to be extra sensitive from using them both right at the same, but I do wear them in the same day just at different times.

when you first started using differin did you apply it to the entire face or just as a spot treatment?
HelenKkay 1 year ago
@HelenKkay Differin doesn't work as a spot treatment since it's a product that needs some time to get full effectiveness, but I did start out just applying it to certain areas where I needed it more because all-over can be too harsh before you get used to it.

hi jen, i was wondering if the products you use at night (ie night creams) are ok for people with really oily skin, which is what i have. i've considered night creams in the past, but worry that it will make me more oily than i already am. i currently use aveeno clear complexion face wash and moisturizer both contain salicylic acid .5%. i worry about going away from those two and using moisturizers with no acne fighting products. please help!! thank you

if you want to use the clarisonic twice daily, theres a delicate brush that is for those with extra sensitive skin, and is more gentle than the sensitive brush head that the clarisonic comes with

what do u say when u walk into the dermotolgist?
do u just say u want them 2 make a skincare regime for u?
qweaz987 1 year ago
i was going to buy vanicream but i notice it has white petroleum.. i tend to avoid face moisturizers with petroleum or with mineral oil .. how truly harmful are those products because i do want to buy the vanicream the the petroleum bothers me since i do break out
greenandsweet 1 year ago
@greenandsweet i break out everything, while having flaking off skin and vaseline is a life saver!
my skin has that "glow" that comes from the within and my skin isnt dry as much.
petroleum isnt bad for u...
its contained in many lip products, face products, and some stuff like gum!
but 1 thing i would suggest is just using good ol regular vaseline and slathering it on at night and sleeping with it on!
ur skin should be AWESOME the next day!

i used to use the differin cream but over time it stopped working ):

@cupcakesRyummi I used differin for years and was awesome then stopped working as well. Now I use Epiduo prescribed by doctor and I think it's better than differin ever was as it has the benzol peroxide in it.

hi jenn! Thanks for sharing your skin care routines. Because of this review, I went to see my derm and requested for the wash. It's an amazing cleanser but the one that I have doesn't foam/bubble. I was wondering if your Re-10 wash foams/bubbles when you put it on your face. I'm so use to soap foaming that i feel i might be wasting the product~ what pharmacy do you go to cause i use costco and they swear no generic form of this wash (OVACE) exist! o_O
hi3iscus 1 year ago
@hi3iscus For Re-10 it bubbles less when you use too much. Don't worry either way though, it should still work as a cleanser.
For the ovace thing, I've never actually gotten ovace so I couldn't tell you what to say. Maybe request Re-10 specifically?

When you use the differin do you also use your moisturizer? Because I use differin cream (0.1) and im unsure if im supposed to just use it alone or not? It doesnt really specify.
mariberrylena 1 year ago
@mariberrylena yes, absolutely always use moisturizer, especially if you are using prescription medicines! The prescriptions can sometimes dry your skin out so you need to make sure to hydrate your skin well. :)
frmheadtotoe 1 year ago
@frmheadtotoe So you apply the retinoid directly over the moisturizer, right? And the moisturizer directly on top of the serum?
I have many of these similar products, but with so many of them, sometimes I'm confused as to how to layer them. >_<
