  • This video is about playing a vinyl record, but on the first hand I thought it was about sex. Genius text and genius composition!

  • This song just shows a fraction of how versatile this band is.

  • This song is so epic

  • What the fuck was that?

  • Love <3

  • mind = blown !

  • Oh come on, just imagine it as a song for Pulp Finction 2, Vincent is smokin' some weed for sure while some girl from Amsterdam showing him the way of the Red Light district :D. I think it's one of the most psyhotic song Daniel ever wrote. It grew on me like hell :)

  • DISCO Q-------ueen

  • shit! they have some good and some bad songs

  • @2:21 made my day over and over again

  • Damn i love old PoS, but this is F*** ing GENIUS!! OMG..

  • aaaaaaaaahhhhh!

  • @roodiedroogie OOOH Hooooo oooooaaaah oooooohhh!

  • i can't find a link to the live version of this from Ending Themes, can anyone give me one?

  • beginning was more unexpected than Spanish Inquisition :D

  • They well did this song for a buzz :P

  • Progresive pop? All right!

  • crazy, love them *-*

  • Good song:A Is like they had nothing to do and tried to do something fun for once:A

  • i used to hate this song... 2 months ago i took Scarsick from the shelf in order to listen to the beautiful "Kingdom Of Loss", and i decided to give this song another chanche. finally i succeded in getting into the mood of the song, reading the lyrics and feeling the groove. now i'm in love with Disco Queen, finding it one of the most entertaining and experimental number in the entier PoS career!

  • @PeelingThePito Same here man. I didnt really like this till listening to it 10 times. now i love it

  • it makes me so alive - pain of salvation

  • "You seem experienced, just an inch too keen on getting exposed"

    WHAT DOES THIS MEAN ??????

  • Comment removed

  • @kunal724 It's like this:

You seem experienced, (she seems experienced)

just an inch too keen on getting exposed having your face in every magazine (likes being exposed in the media a bit too much)

  • Besides that this is one of my favourite PoS songs - because I actually think at least 50% of the people who hate Disco Queen and the whole album should just take a look at the lyrics, listen to the songs one more time, understand the concept, and then try again - I always wondered if he rapes her or if he doesn't.

"You leave me wanting more" makes pretty sure that he doesn't, but what about "Another hit and you will break"?

  • @Teequadrat I totally agree. Suddenly you get totally blown away. I didn't like the album at first cause I, as for so many others, expected another Remedy Lane or something but I learnt a lesson. It's indeed a great concept and a unique album!

  • Now all of we love this song

    Watch my video :

    youtube. com/watch?v=P4EEIxZUUaQ

  • I cud listen 2 this all day. :D

  • I first heard these guys at DT last year aswell. Everyone raving about how awesome DT were...they seemed like they were just going through the motions. Portnoy was the only one with any energy and they could not have picked a worse set list.

Hell liking Pain of Salvation now though

  • this song is beautiful the berst last disco im a disco queen xD

  • So, where's the metal part?

The song itself is fun, but, well...

  • I heard from a friend that Pain of Salvation has a similar song which mocks the casinos and the people in them, but he couldnt remember the title. Any Ideas?

  • @kotsonaten Cribcaged?

  • Yeah, this song pretty much sums up the (no existing) point of the disco 'culture'.

  • i love that band!!! is so amazing they change their style in every song and never get boring!! PoS rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This song rock!

  • Damn, the outro made me think of Electric Six. I don't know if that's good or bad. XD

  • What is there to question? Of course it's a good thing.

  • fuc*in' genius!

  • This song is about playing a vinyl record. Seriously, read the lyrics and keep that in mind. It's genius.

  • I didn't know about this band before seeing them open for DT on Tuesday. They pulled this song to finish off and I was stupified.

I could feel metulhedz seething around me :3

I'm totally gonna check these guys out some more.

  • dream theater was fuckin awesome right? pain of salvation were pretty good, but they had a shit mix, needs better sound tech. first time i heard them aswell

  • hey you were standing next to me

    DT were awesome. ausfailian out

  • rofl at kwrkrlz - looks like Pain of Salvation read his comment and played it just to piss him off :P

  • Hahah yeah, although they did also play it in Auckland I think.

  • this song makes the album worth at least downloading now...I really like this one actually. very interesting and entertaining. I could imagine the surprise when you saw them bust this out live.

  • Oh people were surprised alright...surprised AND horrified

  • I -REALLY- hope that they don't play this tomorrow night at the DT concert in Melbourne.

  • werent you horribly dissapointed

  • Not really, now I love the song :D crazy eh

  • the amount of people that gave me strange looks for singing this after DT

stupid song got stuck in my head. French drummer only decent one.

  • are you kidding me, disco queen was the highlight of the night

  • yep, i laughed since it was not what i was expecting...pretty darn entertaining ;-)

  • Actually you're right, I did laugh a shit load so I guess it wasn't all bad.

  • Dude, I was there too, I thought they were alright....... Did Dream Theater seemed not interested? I know there was a lot of empty seats last night. They were still nothing short of amazing though........ It was my first time seeing them.

  • Oh, I see! You saw them open for Dream Theater and you realize they are the worst band in history. Great! Now I know I'll never invite you on "get-together-sharing-music-tea".

  • @Tradaxa Can't stop laughing. You sir made my day. Not sure why i don't think you tried to be funny..

  • @shadow11781 I totally agree haha.

  • @Tradaxa I'm sorry, that doesn't make sense. You are an idiot.

  • @Tradaxa couple things 1.) If your being sarcastic your wasting your time this is YouTube people are stupid 2.) If your not (I have to put this with the comments here you never know) I trust you have heard every band ever so you must know what your talking about. =/

  • @spuznik Now, who's wasting time? This is a comment page and it's open for thaughts and discussion. What I wrote was the result of the feelings I felt when seeing people judge PoS music without to have given them a chance. And my last comment, which obviously amused some, may appear out of nothing but this is not the first place where I find people just throwing good music away. And of course I was sarcastic - but to me it's not a waste of time. I just assume that this place is open for thaughts

  • @BaZerKo1985 It also happens to be coincided worst song in the history of the band according to their fans. before you say they are the "worst band in the world" remember ICP is actually coincided a band, and you have only heard one song of 83 they have released on Albums. You can say this is the worst song you have ever heard, however I think that would be a gross exaggeration. and yes that comment you made on YouTube 5 months ago has come back to haunt you

  • @spuznik no it hasn't. I stand by my earlier remarks, nothing has changed - these cunts are fucking shithouse.

  • defintly the song it´s about the music industry,. "black curves" it´s about the roots of the disco music.

  • It's a critique of the music industry. The prostitute is a metaphor for a sellout musician.

  • Great! Just great!

  • This is definitely about more than just sex. I've always interpreted to be about *raping* a prostitute and the psychology that goes into it.

Also, never caught that the literal interpretation was about a vinyl, lol.

  • Literally he sings about a vinyl but it actually is about he having sex with a black girl. Litterally this part: "I lay you on your back inviting curves of black making little noises as my needle finds your track." means that he puts on a record, and it makes that scratchy sound as when you put on the needle. But I'm very certain that it should be interpreted as a black curvy girl makes sounds as he begins to fuck her. :P

  • @Mendraathelvete at beginning i thought that he was talking about a sexy black lady, but then i've noticed that is actually about a vinyl disc. "spinning around your hole"

  • @freitasnetuno It's very clearly about both. Double entendre.

  • @Mendraathelvete No, it's about drugs...lol.

  • @Mendraathelvete Sure and no need to guess what is he means by:

"I am turning you around, to play your other side

A tighter groove, I want it but I tremble, slip and slide"

  • @Mendraathelvete He probably wrote it specifically so people would imagine him fucking someone.

  • This is the best song ever written in the history of forever.

  • A perfect disco song with perfect prog style.

  • great song

  • Does anyone else think this song is MAYBE darker than some of their other songs. I know PoS have a heap of dark songs but this is so disturbing to me when you read the lyrics. It's an amazing bit of music, I love the cheery juxtaposition with the dark underlining in the songs meaning... Anyone get that vibe?? Maybe I'm just bein' weird.

  • Nah, you're totally right, man.

  • this is a cover not there own lyrics...

  • huh? seriously? I din't know that O_o

  • ....that's a lie :S

  • I remember only the chorus from a vinyl single of the 70s...not a lie maybe a mistake xD

  • that make's sense ñ_ñ

  • no you're not weird! its an awesome song!

  • I really want to see them live, very jealous of those who have. I have their Ending Themes DVD on heavy rotation here at home.

  • I ve seen them in Greece!! They were awesome!! And they played disco queen too!!

  • hmm...dont quite get that.

    Dark in which way?

(really nthing against your comment - i really want to know)

    best regards

  • The song seems to be about either a rape or some sort of sexual abuse towards a woman. They are using words describing playing music 'my needle finds your track...' etc. as metaphors to this. Well that's what I think anyways, I'm prob wrong. Yeah that's why I thought it was kinda dark.

  • It's not about rape really. Just meaningless sex with a typical club slut.

  • well...it seems at first like it is about sex.

But isnt he actually speaking about a vinyl-disc?

  • @BrutalTortyr

...you are right biout that one, I just jumped to conclusions about the song and thought it may be worse than what it really is.

    @ The Vergile

Yeah that's the metaphor they are using.

  • It's about, from what I've picked up, a girl looking for love in purely sexual relations and the guys who take advantage of it. "You're a cheap sell out drug on everyone's lips." - "A moment's silence and you're filled up, yet emptier than before." It might also be about sex for acceptance. But it's definitely sexually related lyric wise. ;3

  • technically the being filled up yet emptier than before can be a reference to cutting a record, as it's filled with music the grooves are cut =D

  • But then why mention it at all if it doesn't have a double meaning. And while that's an interesting way of looking at it, it doesn't explain the other piece I quoted. XD

  • actualy is about drugs and prostitution and all the dirt that hapens in the clubs possibly rapes too...

  • That's a different way of looking at it, I like when lyrics are left open for many interpretations :-D

  • Did this song sample Blue Monday by New Order?

  • LET'S DISCO

  • *hahahaha* it's so funny - makes me happy at once (somehow^^)

    like it!!

  • I like how the live version from Ending Themes is tighter lol

  • "A Tighter Groove"

    XD

  • I love how it switches between being all creepy-happy disco to being all dark with Gildenlöw's awesome deep voice.

I think this must be a love/hate song - I'm happy to say that I love it!

  • Comment removed

  • I really like how he goes back and forth comparing sex to playing a vinyl record. " My needle finds your track" :D lmao

  • it does sound silly but it just get stuck in your head:D

  • I wish all silly songs sounded like that =)

  • thanks for sharing!

  • <3 :-*

  • Haha i love when PoS does stuff like this. I have to say though, this is better than any disco ive ever heard.

  • lol no

  • Firts time I heard this, I thought this song was, well... totally insane, and not in a good way.

But now I love this song! It has gone through to the brilliant side of insane (although I am still trying to ignore the lyrics)

    Whoohooo!!!!!!

  • I like PoS but c'mon... this is just silly

  • Taken out of context this song may be silly to some but as a part of the whole album it's a great contribution to the mood and the "story" (if there is one).

  • Dear Hairbandssuck.

Well, my favourite music type is chillout, but I love this song and understand it enough to don't think it's just for noisemaking. Have you got any corkers in your side? Because I can't see it. You just talking about something without argument. Clear lost and keep listening your shit if you don't interested in ours. Capisce?

  • Daniel fools another.

  • How insecure do you have to be to insult other people based on their musical taste?

  • this album is the best :p

  • Ever think that the point of this album is to parody the popular music culture and how temporary, unmemorable, and pointless it is? That pain of salvation is trying to give popular music fans a reality check of sorts? If a popular and mainstream artist makes music like this, you think nothing of it. But, if PoS does it, it's a travesty. Doesn't that sort of put things into perspective?

All of you who are bashing this album think about that before you go around telling people how bad it is.

  • and if it isn't a parody, it's still cool

  • sswriter hit the nail on the head. the album is a clever satire. and hella funny too :) and also the last song 'enter rain' is amazing

  • THANK YOU

  • Absolutely right.

  • your totaly right

  • amazing. at first i didn't like this album. but i got really into it and now i keep finding new things in the songs every time i listen to them. awesome band.

  • I couldn't agree more...

I find myself listening over and over again...

Basically, this is the sequel of the Perfect Element-album...

I love it when you can really delve into the music and te lyrics of the concept...

    My alltime fav band.

  • thats the same as all prog though, you need to liten to a piece loads of times to get everything because so much happens

  • Pain of Salvation is the best =) and Disco Queen is a song which you must get used to at first, but it grows on you. Fuck the Hip-Hop culture ;).

  • in hip-hop u can find good compositors too... for example o.s.t.r

  • i like this song a lot and im not really into this type of sound from a progressive group, but they got me hooked to the sound!!

  • Awesome Upload ^^

Soo bad they took this out of Spotify!

  • The lyrics are pretty sick. It seems such a light and happy song but the lyrics are very dark.

  • hehe, i like the song.. though its kind of strange. But some other songs on scarsick really have TOO much hiphop- tendencies for my taste, lol. Thats enought experimental guys... :P

  • He, just listen to the lyrics and you'll see that the hip-hop tendencies are there for a reason.

  • what the fuck?....I´m dancing.... this experiment sounds great!!!!

  • All the albums PoS are very good. If you are a fan of progressive, then do not say the wrong scarsick. like power? good for you! Now do not say a bad album just to have a song a little different than usually do.

  • lot, though not quite connect the lyrics, but the man is a genius in lyrics ... also hear a little of Spock's beard, or even Neal Morse already acted with Mike Portnoy. However that is part of a prog-metal band. but also plays rock prog. What is important is not the "weight" or "power" is like feeling the music. Apparently you said names of 2 songs that begins with "power" (progressive for you) that is not the most important in the progressive ... Again (my opinion).

  • it seems that you do not know what is progressive ... is not necessary to have power in music to be progressive ... You must be brand new, or have a closed mind a bit! hear other bands as progressive, YES, in which the flower kings Daniel Gildenlöw is also part of some projects. Yes, I have some albums of PoS, I have the perfect element and my (personal opinion prefer BE) talks about a

  • Only to end up with comments from some idiots who think they know music here is just simply this. They are versatile in making music, scarsick shows that even ... are so good that can change a little bit of style and make the fans still have love. are simply brilliant at what they do!

  • Is that gildenlöw at 1:15 and 2:50? Man the guy sound almost androgynous at times!

  • This is a pretty awesome song. Youre probably just put off by the whole disco thing

  • yup,thats why i hate it :>

prog metal band should play prog metal and not a freaking disco O-O

  • Youre a freaking hypocrite! Its prog metal goddamnit they are meant to experiment a little!

  • you know what?

ur right, but they hell shouldn't go that far away to disco -.-

  • Dude why the fuck do you watch this if you don't like it?

If you think they shouldn't play this music, maybe you shouldn't listen to them? Basic logic you know.

  • Hell no,the prog music is great i've just said what I think, the thing is,i dun like disco...

Btw,i watched this cus I like 'em and i wanted to try this,I dun understand u guys :o

  • It's only really the chorus that is like disco and it's a clever choice, given the thematic point of the lyrics. It's still quite a progressive song and probably one of the better songs on Scarsick

  • ur right,ON SCARSICK

if u compare it with other albums, its preety bad (IN MY OPINION, SO U GUYS WILL STFU A LITTLE WITH UR DISCO LOVER COMMENTS)

like ive said, listen to the perfect element :3

  • dude I hate disco but this song is basically a prog metal song with a couple of disco-esk sections

  • your narrow minded. but then again to each his own.

  • If you like Pain of Salvation, check out Methonia. You check them out on myspace. Just google Methonia. Peace!

  • GYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!

Eu adoro essa música! Os prisioneiros do meu navio acabam ouvindo-a praticamente o dia inteiro, já que suas celas localizam-se próximas à cabine do capitão, na parte traseira do navio! gyahahahahahaha!!

  • Scarsick is definitely their best album. I have listened to it extremely many times.

  • oh my gosh...what am i reading!?

scarsick is a very good album, and could be the master piece of any other group in the world, but PoS discography presents better work...how forget Entropia...or Remedy Lane...we are in front of the best group now playing and writing music..2 tumbs up

  • THE ONLY GOOD DISCO SONG!

  • I love this song <3

  • this happy song is BLACK AS HELL, I really love it ^^'

one of the most interesting in the album, and one of those that make "scarsick" a worthy sequel for "the perfect element", imho :P

  • kai gamo ta tragudia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It would take too long to work out the rest of it, bu my band is totally opening its next show with the first part of this song...

  • Heard live at Evoluton festival in milan yesterday...so good! love them

  • genial..

  • I would dance that music any time of the week....

  • Lets.....DISCO!!!!

  • both Kopsis21 and valsam4kis fail at the English language... this song is awesome though :)

  • valsamakis u're a comlete retard...

this song rocks but there are much better songs with incredible lyrics and music

  • rofl,dude what your prob?

i like this the most,if you like the others song most then dont listen to it...
