  • Great performance you couldn't believe a word I say ...

  • that year is it?

  • gotta say, James Burton does a pretty good Hubert Sumlin impression. Nice stuff. Not easily achieved

  • Looks to me that at least some of those "Moves like Jagger" were Howlin' Wolf's first, haha!

  • a MONSTER!!!

  • @marcelpascottoable y esa actitud que tienen los stones al restirarse con ese respeto ante la llegada del maestro.

  • you know, thank God for the British, they did so much to revitalize and bring back black music to folks like me that never would have heard it.

  • Jagger is still an adolescent comparing to this great blues genius from the past...

  • Imagine how strange this must have been for the Wolf, and yet look how totally comfortable he looks out there on his ONLY US TV appearance with these mop haired white kids in the audience staring at him and everything. The consummate performer. Sad that none of these guys ever got to Madison Square Garden or Shea Stadium. They Deserved it.

  • anyone know where you can buy dvds of these old shows?

  • The grt Howlin Wolf thakes center stage as the Stones sit behind him in ore as he is backed by one of the worlds greatest guitarist James Burton even an honner for him to be playing with the grt man.

  • Simply beyond compare! The Wolf now and forever!!

  • good god,I want to be in the presence of a musician like Wolf!

  • sorry to bust any hater's bubble but i would willingly fight anyone who dislikes this performance to uncertain death

  • fantastic performance

  • way to go .. negro music shake the world but rap today is a disgrace

  • The Wolf starts busting out the moves at 3:17.

  • yeahhhhhhhhh wolf!!!

  • man i bet the stines are all sitting there with a hard-on as big as the wolfs voice... what a guy!

  • I like this version way better than the studio one.

  • It syncs perfectly for me. I don't know what the hell all you people are on about

Damn good performance though; how can you not smile when he dances near the end?

  • The day that white American kids were introduced to black american music; courtesy of the Rolling Stones. We didn't realize how good this music is until the Stones brought it to our attention.

  • doesn't get no better

  • Amazing performance. Pure gold.

  • the man just sang and played his heart out....

  • Sorry Mcjag but mr Wolf just bossed you on the blues harp right there

  • WHO CARES ABOUT TE SYNC ITS HOWLIN

  • this video is just pure gold

  • holy shit, how great is that??? no wonder theyre all raving their asses off in this vid!!;)

  • Thanks Pili for sharing this, Stones is up there with my favorites. =)

  • Notice how all the Stones sat down at the feet of the master. That's respect. Good on ya Stones.

  • This is fantastic that the Rolling Stones requested THE WOLF to be on their show! These are great things to know! I love THE WOLF and the THE STONES ! I wish the video was better but, I would have never have seen this footage if, it wasn't posted . THANKS!!

  • He is a ceremony when ever he sings.

  • great song

  • Not only James Burton on guitar, but Billy Preston on piano---in the House band for Shindig---The "Shindogs"!

  • Hoy 10-junio-2010 esel centenario de su nacimiento .

  • Born in 10 -jun-1910 . ¡Today 10-jun-2010 is a century!

  • A huevo el puro blues negro gran rola!!

  • a force that blows a rocket to the moon..brilliant!

  • Sucks that the sync is screwey, but goddamn Howlin' wolf is the man!

  • Credit to the Stones for getting Mr Wolf on TV , AWESOME

  • This is the TV appearance that the Stones agreed to make ONLY if Howlin' Wolf would be the special guest.

He was their blues hero, and he never forgot the respect paid him, as they sat behind him as he performed.

Classy move from the Stones, definitely.

  • @PinkOld Love the big smile on Brian Jones face

  • @Tarantulisimo

    No doubt.

Jones knew he was in the presence of greatness.

  • @PinkOld i too so agreee, all yr above comments...a HUMblE move on the part of the stones, definitely!!

  • veramente stupendo, grande voce

  • Trudno dzisiaj o takich kolesi. Niestety Sławek Wierzcholski się nie łapie, Irek Dudek-o to co innego.

  • love the music ahh yeaaaaaaaaaa

  • sabor

  • goodbye sadness, and hello cool blue~

  • That bass player looks like the one that played with Bo Diddley.

  • That's because he IS the bass player with Bo Diddley.

He is none other than Willie Dixon, songwriter and bassist extraordinaire.

  • Okay, thanks. I thought he looked like the same guy.

  • great!!!!

  • very nice but the sync is all messed up

  • yeah when i cut off the long commentary at the beginning and show at the end it came out like this... it syncs up when i play it normally

  • @jimiydoorshamLachim - try converting the audio to the same as the video ex. 29.97 fps and adjust speed by about 1% or use Plural Eyes for synching

  • superrrrrrrr

  • Whoa--It's the Howlin' Wolf...The Howlin' Wolf!!! What a great performance, thanks for uploading :-D

  • thats right did you see Cadillac Records

  • Screw Cadillac Records, that was the worst piece of crap movie ever to even try to depict the legendary Chess Records, which cannot be defined by the only 6-7 artists portrayed---Chess had well over a200 albums released before Etta cracked "I'd Rather Go Blind." The events were out of sequence and there were so many other great blues artists on Chess-Checker-Marterry-Argo-Cadet that were not mentioned. The bastard filmmakers could not even show original Chess-Checker 78 rpm releases!

  • to be fair-

    its entertainment

i think they did cover the most important artists, difficult to do em all

mos def played himself again, always playa hatin on whitey, but i love him'

but yeah it could have been much better

  • @KojiRecords

    THOSE BASTARDS!

  • @KojiRecords Talk to Beyonce Knowles - she commisioned the whole thing in her own image, made herself "executive" producer and made a TON of money from it. Not bad for an already super-rich pop singer.

  • @slideharp1 At least she was easier on the eyes than Etta James really was. :) I thought the Brit actor who played Howlin' Wolf in the movie was good.

  • @MultiKanut I didn't. I don't think he was very good at all - if you've ever seen the Wolf. If you haven't then I guess it wouldn't make any difference. I saw Etta James in '79 and she tore up the house. BK could never do that - she's All MTV.

  • That's the great James Burton on guitar here. He was the house guitarist for Shindig.

  • James Burton are you serious? that is fucking sweet, they talk about him quite a bit in the book about Zeppelin "Hammer of the Gods"

  • Thanks for putting this together!!

  • STFU u EEEEEEEEThiopian

  • Jimmy u athopian faggot.

Leave the US alone and go back to shitsrael

  • first of all its ethiopian

second if you dont like the video dont watch it

third of all im not ethiopian

    4th- blow me

  • wow you are retarded django
