@AesaFilms ..."Rock 'n' roll now is pretty much in the garbage. It's barely alive. Everybody has taken from it. Nobody has given back. There are a very few who have given back. It's a very selfish occupation. A lot of people never really returned. That's why we have a lot of pastiche and we have a lot of artists who are never involved beyond their sophomore albums. It's a travesty."
Its a bandana you half wit, fucking guy wears what he wants, they were actually awsome here and the next day played brixton london on the day of notting hill carnival ,red hot day august, they were on fire.Astbury wore the famous red stripes accross his eyes.
Doesn't have a great voice in person? I booked the Cult in Chicago years ago for a show and I will never forget him coming out with a tambourine and motorcycle jacket as long as I live - this curtain of black hair and white skin - GOOD GOD he was IT. People age - whatever - he HAD it and he was a GOD.
Even if I used to be a fan of this band, I have to admit that Ian didn't have a great voice, live I mean. Anyway Love and Electric were, are and will be great records!
I don`t understand what his message was going out there in Muslim gear. I`m sure Ian`s heart was in the right place. I`m thinking most people would have been put off by this in 01 if they did not understand Ian. Probably not one of his best moves. The average American would missinterperate that performance. I still don`t like it today even though I know the message was not malicious.
Ian's from yorkshire and grew up in a town where there is a large muslim\asian community, so his understanding of islam is probably quite different to most western non muslims similar to how Ian brown is, the average american ought to be more open minded and then maybe there wouldn't be so much shit in the world today.I think it's cool the way he represented on that show.
Yeah, you are right. Which is why I did not attack this performance by the typical American perspective. I still think it was not his wisest decisions given the time. The video is all we see, not the before and after.
That's right, and I don't see the big deal, if the guy who commented had ever lived in England he wouldn't even bother posting rubbish like that. Silly.
