i have an 08 Si, and wanted to note that the rev hang actually helps out when WOT shifting @ redline. IT helps the engine stay in its optimum torque band, engaging the next gear at ~6200k. this video does a good job portraying this.
@Babeeboi What a fucking retard. How would you expect they show the throttle response? The pedal will move by itself? Think bitch. What I Meant was he should've made the video with his pants and shoes on.
It's not DBW itself that's to blame. It's the way it's set up. I suspect that delay is for emissions control purposes. Instantaneously cutting off the air supply faster than the fuel supply can react can cause the engine to be momentarily running rich. This increases carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbon levels in the exhaust. By leaving the throttle valve open longer, this extra fuel is burned. I'm just speculating, but this seems logical, since some DBW systems don't have this delay.
have you guys ever seen these cars at the drags? not pretty. great to drive very fun snappy. i beat a brand new honda acura gsr something in my 3800 stock . buick today. the ricer was reamed and was bearly moving. but there just 4 bangers. have fun buying expensive parts. while not making real power lol
There is no "BRAND NEW Acura GSR something" as the Integra GSR was discontinued in 2001. For the record, you have 200hp out of 3.8Ls while the top of the line B18C (1.8L) 4cyl makes 195hp. Of course you have more torque given you have almost twice the displacement. So who's making power now?
Yes, this is so true. great vid, I got rid of my DBW, now i have rsx throttle body and cable. i love the response, its funny when i race si's on rolls and how i take off quickly as they dont. love the response of cable.
Yes, DBW isn't for everyone. LOL. I had an 05' Corolla S with DBW, and a buddy came by with an 03' Corolla S with a S/C and he actually said my 05' S was MORE responsive. Still love the RSX Type S!!! Although I wouldn't trade in my four door sedan for one.
Were you the buff when you made this vid?

Thanks for the video. I got a flashpro and it fixes this problem almost completely..day and night differences

you should see the accelerator delay that my twingo has. it is ridiculous. when i find some time i will record some video.
oh and dbw does NOT necessarily mean annoying lag. my nitro rc has dbw, it does not have 'lag'.

I love the Cable response in my DC Integra... But I cant stand the DBW in my E46... I stab the throttle and it takes a second to react.

DBW is truly annoying. I own an 08 Si. It makes shifting smooth a difficult task.

well the si is throttle by wire and the 2002 rsx-s isnt. si will beat the 02-04 rsx-s anyways

good way of making the video. Id say the si seems more delayed than the type-s in throttle. what u think?

Thats a great comparison, and a frustrating one. Really lets you see what we are missing.
There's no reflash that completely fixes this is there?
