They cant have explosives onboard. It does have a chemical agent that destroys the hardware. These are activated by the drone not by human oviously if its lost comm it cant be activated. A similar incident occurred during the US/NATO attacks on the Former Yugoslavia during the 1999 war.

The Yugoslav army were able to historically shoot down the US's F-117 Nighthawk stealth bomber, the ones that are "triangle" shaped.

One of these were worth well over 50 million dollars each back when they were launched in the '80,not far off a billion dollars today.
