  • RIP Paul

  • So so so so good. I feel good listening to this even after 30 years its still a good honest tune.

  • THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME, WHEN IT COME TO "THE MOTORCITY" BECAUSE

YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND GOOD RADIO STATIONS THERE THAT STILL PLAY THOSE

GREAT MOTOWN SOUNDS 24/7 AND SO MANY OTHERS RECORDING ARTIST WITH

    BIG FABULOUS HITS AS WELL

  • This song got lost amidst a flood of popular Temptation's songs but was a major favorite in Detroit and later for others who discovered their music.

  • sikeyim ilerisini gerisini

  • Paul was the Temptations

  • truly dynamic and a taste of true harmony showcasing the best of the times.

  • This is Paul on the lead - what a voice!!

  • i think paul sang lead on this one , one of his best effords

  • I love this track so much !

  • Oh how much I would love to go back to these days! I was 12yrs old when this song came out and I am in my 50's now and I can truly say I was more happier then than now. Back then the music touched your soul and heart but this generation is to depressing including their music.

  • @9241953i've got agree with you there.

  • @9241953 Take me with you and leave me there I would miss having my son and grandson and other family ,but I'd still rather be back there. Time were good ,clean safe, fun no worries just good living and every cared about everyone. No stress ,no fighting ,no bulling (well a lit )you just enjoyed EVERYDAY!!!!

  • @jo22338601 Don't you leave me here!!!!!!!

  • I used to cut the last 2 classes of school and go down to the Howard Theater to watch the show. IThe first show was at 2:00 pm. There were always 2 or 3 other good groups onthe show with them like Martha & the Vandellas or Tammi Terrell.or another Motown group.

  • My brother used to make us laugh when we'd walk through a white neighborhood (60's Birmingham, AL). And nobody looked back....

  • Strings arrangement So Good

  • This song illustrates to me that the past is the past and "keep on walking on don't look back". The lyrics if you listen closely to them will help you endure, persevere and overcome ANYTHING in life once you get FOCUSED the task at hand. Be it a loss of a relationship, job, house, material goods, whatever. What you put your full focus and trust in can become a god in your life if you're not careful. Not to sound religious, but relationa-TRUST IN THE LORD W/ ALL YOUR HEART AND WATCH HIM WORK .

  • This is a jam. Go Paul. I am glad somebody put this on U-Tube

  • THEY THE SHIT ANT THEY

  • THEY THE SHIT ANT THAY

  • Its 7:00am, getting really for work...but had to break out in an old school dance. You all remember "the tip" & "the hitch hiker"...Get your groove on!!

    Thanks Nocaro!!

  • Oh man...you guys remember the dances called.. "the tip" and "the hitch hike"...I'm getting ready for work...listening to this song...my feet started doing them...this is going to be a great day!!

  • Magic......................I'm just listening to Tempts tonight....all night!. They put me in a magical place. Can you believe these gentlemen were only in their early to mid to 20s when they sang this song. They sound like mature men who experienced a lot in life. Paul really had a soulful voice. Mmmm...I lovin' this music

  • Junior, I think you mean " For Once In My Life" Awesome live Paul

  • This is Paul Williams at his Best!!! R-I-P

  • @TheJunior5721 If you think this is Paul Williams at his best, you need to listen to his live version of "The Impossible Dream"

  • It is about the voices and the Temptations had the voices. Paul was one voice, that Otis could not replace for the group because Paul was special.

  • I agree one thousand percent!!

  • One of the best from the best. A great Temptation's song. Love it. Thank you for this post.

  • There are no known cover versions of "My Baby".

  • paul had the emotion and soul, eddie had the calm melody, melvin had the deep rich bass, david had that rough yet smooth voice, otis well was just otis the leader lol. aint a bad singer but the other guys had something that could catch you...and dennis had that rich upbeat voice..in later years

  • Paul Williams was the most soulful of all the Temps. RIP Paul

  • I love this song......Sing it Paul!!!!

  • Much, much love to The Funk Brothers, they were the reason you knew it was a Motown song.

  • @missycah1 you are so right The Funk Brothers gave Motown their identity.............a special sound of silky soul and smooth funk. Some people called it "SOPHISTICATED SOUL "

  • i miss MY FRIENDS!!!! So many , many great songs.... PRAISE GOD they ever lived

  • The Temptations were had their peak from 1965 to 1968 with the "Classic Five" which was David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks, Paul Williams, Melvin Franklin and Otis Williams. Those five gentleman defined the male group sound of Motown and had the voices, style, looks and moves to create the music that defined a generation. I will always feel that David Ruffin was irreplaceable in the Temptations.

  • How did this not chart in the top 40 at the time?

One of their most soulful songs.

Today's thug music cant even measure up to the Temps heels!

I will always love Motown and, as Barry Gordy called it, " The music of young America".

  • @joziffyou Because the flip side of the '45 was the "A" side and it was promoted over this song, big mistake.

  • @bubblejomay DON'T LOOK BACK was the ORIGINAL "A" SIDE. But the nation's Dee Jays were "RUFFIN CRAZY" and flipped the record over to play the "B" side, "MY BABY", so Motown re-released the single and reversed the labels, making "MY BABY" the "A" side instead. But, decades later, DON'T LOOK BACK has proven to be the far more popular and enduring tune, having inspired cover versions by Al Green, Bobby Womack, Peter Tosh & Mick Jagger, The Persuasions, and Teena Marie.

  • @joziffyou "Don't look back" was the flip side of "My baby" which I believe received more air play than "Don't look back". The "Temps" made many records that had two sides that could have been charted hits! Just the MOTOWN quality I guess, (writers & performers & musicians). The GOLDEN age of soul!

  • I love this song!!! Paul's voice is AMAZING!!!

  • @joziffyou Well, in a word, racism unfortunately. There was no where in my community and in the black community in the US that this song wasn't blasted and wasn't no 1. See very little of our music was even played on the radio, we were just wondering how we knew all of the new songs, I still cannot figure it out, cause it WAS NOT the radio, in our community, ALL of their songs were hits......we played da wax offa all of their songs......

  • One of my all time favorite songs it was the theme song of our teenage partys held not far from Hitsville USA way back in the sixties. Paul was truly great but Eddie put the group on the map in 1964 with The Way you Do The Things You Do

  • I can't stop listening to this song.

  • Written and composed by MIRACLES members SMOKEY ROBINSON and RONNIE WHITE .

  • RIP Paul Williams...

  • Paul's voice was "soulfully thick"...masculine, strong and trusting...and on top of that...THE MAN HAD MOVES!!! Umph, Umph, Umph!!!!

  • @belovers4ever Yes so true! Paul's voice surely was BONAFIDE and PLATINUM SOULFULLY Right!!

  • I love diz song! <3

  • One of my favorite Temptations songs I also like "It's Growing " by the Tempts

  • MAGIC MOTOWN Sound!! Great Song!! Thanks for posting!!

     GO TIGERS!!! GO LIONS!!!
