UFC make a lot more then that there pullin 10x the boxin ratings theres whole generations that dont give a rats ass about boxin that and pay to watch every ufc fight
Most of the guys don't make what your fighters make in bonuses? Care to quote the numbers big boy? Its easy to just sound like an expert when you don't have to quote the stats. UFC is building on the path that boxing paved. It's not like it worked its way up from scratch, it benefits from the 100 years of boxing that existed before it. The demographic is fight fans, its not just split UFC or boxing. Tonnes of boxing fans are UFC fans too. If you are real, you can see Dana White is hustlin
@sombramigo No I have to disagree with you. I am an avid boxing fan and I happen to know that a 20-0 fighter has difficulties paying bills. He's right, the bonuses in the UFC are more than journeyman boxers make. However there are many, many more boxers than fighters in the UFC. It takes years or at least marketability to generate any money in a boxing match. The fighters you think about that make money have established themselves to get the public interest. The UFC provides the exposure needed.
@whiskeygoggles EXACTLY! I also am an avid boxing fan and a UFC fan as well. What I don't appreciate is Dana White's attitude toward the sport. It seems most UFC fans who don't watch boxing buy into a lot of what he says, which is a bit of truth mixed with fabrication. He is like Michael Moore. Anyways, the difference between the number of boxers and number of fighters in the UFC isn't even comparable. A more accurate comparison would be PPV boxing events vs. PPV UFC events.
@whiskeygoggles If you know boxing, you know a 20 - 0 fighter is not on a PPV level yet. At that record, he is still working his way up to contender status fighting bums and other prospects. He is on the verge of a PPV event and Friday Night Fights and the like. The moment they get on PPV they get paid. Are you telling me UFC fighters not on a PPV event make a significant amount more than a 20-0 boxer? Keep the comparison fair. Compare guys like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to anyone in UFC
@whiskeygoggles The fact is, Cotto, Marquez, and many other names most UFC-only fans have no clue about make a significant amount of money.. More than the top UFC champions, and that is a fair comparison, and something Dana White is not addressing. He never answered the question. The answer is Diaz ABSOLUTELY would make more money in boxing, its not even a question.
@whiskeygoggles But let me end by saying I don't think boxing is the greatest system for making sure fighters get paid. I respect the UFC for their system, Dana makes the fights fans want to see, they get exposure like you said, all of that is stuff boxing needs to learn from. Like I said, with Dana its some truth mixed with disrespect and dishonesty many times. Both sports would be better without this kind of press right here.
I asked around my office today and the average joe whos not a mma OR boxing fan can name more UFC stars than Current boxers. Thats a HUGE change in the situ only 5 years ago. Like it or not boxing is such a stagnant sport these days and thats due largely to the money involved!! I actually will be glad if MMA doesn't go as far as boxing but still would like to see under card guys earning WAY more than the 5-10 k some are getting. They may never be a headliner but should be making more than they
Big deal if they don't make as much as a boxer they still get paid well. Not every pro boxer makes what Mayweather does also and also even though I have alot more respect for MMA being a martial artist I think b/c boxing was around alot longer they have bigger pockets.
Let's not get carried away with paying MMA fighters 25 mil a fight. Floyd gets paid a fortune for each of his bouts and takes as much as 18 months off. You wanna see MMA fighters fight once in a year and a half? Like these other guys are saying down there, paying a top fighter $400k, then have him rake in a couple millions in endoresments is enough. I love watching people like Bones fight 4 times a year.
ufc highest earning fighters make 400,000 bucks a fight, most of the money is made from the ppv bonuses, thats why gsp and brock lesnar make so much money. and i dont see ufc paying gsp 4 mill per fight, half is prob from his endorsements cause brock made 6.1 mill in 2 fights just from ufc in 2010 and he has higher sales than gsp
@mikemontana1990 GSP makes money from sponsors / endorsement deals. GSP alone makes about 1.5 mil from straight paperview buys. Jon Jones for example only makes 75k per fight, but his deal with K-Swiss and other brands gives him millions per fight. Thats how Jon Jones bought a nice ass bently and a huge house for his family after 1 championship fight. UFC is a promotion, and they PROMOTE their fighters giving them opportunities to venture out into their own businesses, Movies, clothing lines ect
I think the UFC holds back and does not pay their fighters as much as they should. Even if GSP make 4 million a fight that pales in comparison to Mayweather money. With all that PPV revenue I think that they should be able to do better than 4 mill for one of their marque names. Just doesnt seem fair but then I am not privy to UFC contracts so what do I know.
@burnthesystem11 Mayweather is what you call overpaid lol. Ridiculous amount of money to do a boxing match something he loves to do. Doctors should get payed that much for saving lives not shit like this.
Dana is such a bullshiter, $30 million purses are common in boxing, Tyson was making that when he was at the top..and that was a while ago, De Lahoya was also making $30mil a fight and that was how long ago. GSP is at the top of the UFC and I would be surprised if he squeaks out $1 mil per fight...the money is going to Dana and the furtida bros... that's the reason the fighters don't get paid....talking about $5k bonuses is a joke.
did you people not understand what he said? they have made multiple fighters multimillionaires! just cuz the disclosed ammounts that the public is told about is only 600 or 500 or 300,000$ thats not all that the fighters get don't forget about the money they make off their walk out shirts......the small cut they get eachtime their name is said on a commercial....and I don't know about this but their might even be a small cut on PPV buys like .05% or even .01%..tell me they don't make money.
@dethcltch44 No one says that they don't make money. All anyone is saying is that top MMA fighters are under paid. Endorsements are a different matter all together. The UFC pays their guys crap. When people talk about paydays with boxing they are not talking about endorsement............ So please don't entangle the two.
@dromezz1993 Victor Ortiz got a 8 million guarantee to fight Mayweather. Boxing purses have nothing to do with endorsements. Endorsements increase a fighter's yearly income, but not a payday. I thought that was pretty obvious! Sure lots of people make money off of endorsements, did I ever say they didn't? Stay on topic, the issue is what fighters get paid for a specific fight not what they make off of rental property or by selling a grill!
@dromezz1993 Do some fucking research instead of operating off of assumptions. The one sport I know is boxing. No one in MMA has got a million dollar guaranteed payday for a fight. If you do research you will find many boxers for many years have gotten million dollar paydays.
@hellfingyeah oh really tell that to GSP brock anderson they get millions. and no boxers were not getting millions for a long time. you dont know shit
@hellfingyeah explain the fertillas interview that ufc fighters were gettig millions to this day. explain GSP and his video saying he gets 4 million a fight
@dromezz1993 Yeah...struggling to pay $35million dollars! UFC fighters get paid in the hundred thousands. Champs get millions, and barely at it. GSP and Lesnar were the highest paid with 1-2mil each. They should be making multi-million dollar contracts, if you're comparing to boxing.
Dana is a fucking jerk. It doesn't matter how many millions you make with your friends. It matters what you pay your fighters you cheap ass!! Boxers that fight on PPV get about an average of 1 million for that single fight. The UFC heavywieght champ doesn't even get a million a fight! This is what happens when you have a monopoly in a sport.
Do you realize the ignorance you just demonstrated in your comment? First of all boxers don't earn an average of one million dollars per fight. Its a case by case basis which makes it almost impossible to calculate an average boxer's "paycheck". Brock Lesnar made $400,000 dollars just for losing the belt to Cain Velasquez. And if the UFC is a monopoly, which its not, it would be able to afford to pay their fighters millions per fight.
@utvolstudent15 Read my comment a few times before you respond! I said boxers on ppv not boxers everywhere in every fight of their career. You need to improve your reading comprehension! By the way a boxers paycheck is called his purse. Thank you for proving my point that the Heavy weight Champ of the UFC doesn't even get a million dollars a fight. Kelly Pavlick, Cotto, Berto, Klitschko brothers and ....jesus christ this list is going to go on for ever......all have received million dollar
Respond to this video... paydays. Giveme one UFC fighter that has had a purse of 1 million for one fight! UFC has bought out Pride, Strikeforce, WEC and I think I'm missing one. Do you understand what a monopoly is? Monopolies translate to lower wages typically not higher because of lack of competition. A MMA fighter has only one option when it comes to getting big fame and money with the demise of pride and WEC. Most people think UFC is a sport and don't know what MMA is. UFC UNDERPAYS FIGHTERS
fuck outta here dana! the klitschko brother make 15 million a piece, david haye averages bout 6 million thanks to UK pay per view, cotto averages about 3 to 4 million, berto, khan, margarito, sergio martinez all average north of a million per fight comparing to the planters peanuts u give ur fighters.
Damn, Dana just threw a smack down on the Diaz claim that he should be paid $25 million per fight. I think Dana White is the best captain at the helm of the MMA ship and is going to guide the sport to it's highest of heights. He might have some small hiccups, but who else could create what he has created?
ortiz got 3mil to headbutt mayweather.. thats 1 fight.. more than nick diaz 275k for demolishing Bj. but what dana says makes sense.. the MMA world is growing, more money.. well for Zuffa at least.
@ArmTriangleChoke lol.. actually, i subscribe to sky.. pay $50 a month.. so i really ended up paying $75.. but that doesnt change the face Ortiz 3mill > Diaz 275k in ONE fight.
Dana's a douche though really. He always has to take a stab at boxing, failing to mention that the under card fighters on a big boxing event make more than Anderson Silva. There's only around 300 fighters in the UFC and 20,000 pro boxers so really the money can't even be compared. There are journey men boxers who make more money than some of the top draws in the UFC even still. In Germany a new prospect can make 10 grand per fight. Boxing promoters and orgs should really sue Dana's mouth.
So Dana, You discredit Nick Diaz by calling him a liar for his words at the UFC 137 Post Presser, the very same one that YOU said Carlos Condit agreed to step aside for Diaz vs GSP (which was bullshit) and you expect everyone to think you have any credibility? You don't have any with me.
Boxing made a mistake in making the decision to give the fighters most of the purse instead of the actual matchmakers and presidents who actually put the fights together. That's why boxing knows they can't fix any of their problems without going under. Good for lorenzo and dana on taking all the money including PPV money and the sponsorship money because they pay for the fighters health and pay for all the extra shit fighters need does anyone know how much a fighter makes on sponsorhips? A BUNCH
