  • Hi, I just started crocheting as well as watching your videos..i did subscribe ;)...

My question is, when you say multiples of six then add four, if I'm making a big blanket (like a throw) do I just do like let's say 300 (multiple of six) then add four? I'd greatly appreciate your advice please.

  • @lovelymimi29 The plus 4 is done just one time.

  • I love the slo-mo. Thanks - I've been wanting to try this and yours is the only tutorial that makes me feel like I can. lol Thank you!

  • @CheshireKhat1 I appreciate the comment, thank you.

  • So I get the sequence of stitches, but here's my question - is there a way to prevent it from 'bubbling' ? I'm working on row 2, and it seems to be creating small domes with each half wheel. The first one is okay, but each subsequent half wheel is making it dome shaped.

  • @coffeeaddict71 Work looser stitches and see if that helps.

  • that is so cool....You are so fast....I am just learning...had to figure out something to do with my hands as I try to quit smoking...I am learning from youtube. I will eventually be able to do this...but for now i will just admire your work

  • @aribear473 I will send you the beginner playlist. That will help you learn the basic stitches.

  • Does the 'slipknot' on the hook count as first stitch? I asked is because I always end up to have one extra chain on my first row.

I am not sure what I did wrong.

  • Your tutorials are great, but the slo-mo is kind of annoying. The beauty of youtube is that you can rewind as much as you want if you don't get it the first time. :)

  • @smailib You can fast forward as well. ;)

  • @tjw1963 You're absolutely right, I can; however it's a bit tricky with a crochet hook and yarn in hand. Thanks so much for the comment, though.

  • @smailib I love the slow mo!!!

  • @ally05of11 Thank you!

  • I am posting a picture of the Catherine's Wheel Stitch blanket that i created from your pattern on your fb page. Thank you so much for the tutorial.

  • @suz8879 You did a very nice job with afghan! The stitched in letters are really nice!

  • @tjw1963 its not quite done yet cuz i am waiting for the baby to be born so i can put her birthday at the bottom and then i am going to add a border but for the most part it is complete.

  • I have tried three times, for some reason mine does not look like yours! I dunno why...I really wanted to make a blanket like this for such a long time...

  • @Mterranova57 Keep practicing and it will all fall in to shape

  • In other how to's i have seen on this stitch they have a a shrinking factor... does this one as well?

  • @suz8879 Not sure what you mean by shrinking factor. This is made in rows and will work for a blanket or scarf.

  • @tjw1963 was talking about the original chain the one that is up on mikey's mail u have to chain extra length for the final product to end up a certain size.... I have already figured out that this pattern doesnt have hardly any shrinkage. Thank you for responding.

  • @tjw1963 i think what the person meant to ask was about decreasing? i was wondering whether it were possible to decrease and increase somehow with this stitch--what do you think?

  • @amn0809 It is possible to increase/decrease with this stitch

  • @tjw1963 oh thank you so much for the links! you're amazing :)

  • ok nvm i fixed it it was the skip 2 chains i was skipping 3. now lets see how i mess up the 2nd row lol

  • everytime I do this I end up with not enough stitches at the end? maybe I am skipping too many when you say Skip 2 chains. But I really don't think so. something isn't adding up right. I am very confused.

  • @lameexcuse17 There is a link to the written and symbol instructions in the video details below the video for this crochet technique. The symbol diagram will help you will the stitch placement.

  • This stitch is kind of hard

  • im so excited 2 try this...ok here it goes....

  • your instructions are pretty good but im not sure sometimes. i tryed to go to your link but i didnt see any pattern. do u offer a full pattern?where can i go to see your pattern? or how do i search for a pattern similar?

  • @juliekaylee1 There is a link to the written instructions below the video, in the video details.

  • Hi Theresa...I will try to use this stitch to make a sofa kleenex box cover. I hope it works out for me...I do like this stitch :) Thank you for sharing!

  • @wiLDaBoUtCoLoR You are welcome.

  • also what kind of border would you recommend doing on the for a baby blanket?

  • @carissalynn2005 A single crochet or a reverse single crochet.

  • what do you do in the end with all the extra yarn hanging down?

  • @carissalynn2005 sew it in

  • Excellent. Thank you!

  • You are welcome.

  • Wow I can't believe how fast you work! I am trying to learn to crochet (maybe not the ideal male craft!) I used to crochet a little when I was 7-10.. Now i'm 40! Can you show how you personally hold the yarn to get the correct tension?

  • I have slowed down and try to include slow motion in most videos now. A lot of men crochet so it is not just for women. I do have a video that I will send you the link with how I hold my work and on tension.

  • I'm always looking for a new afghan patter and this is just lovely. Thanks for posting.

  • you are welcome.

  • can you pls give an exact pattern for an afghan? i'm so excited to try this out. :) thank you.

  • The instructions are posted on my crochet blog. The multiple is 6, which means that it takes 6 chains to make each wheel. I can give you an estimate of 184 chains which will give you 30 wheels. If you want something larger, you will will add 6 extra chains for each wheel.

    180 / 6 =30

  • I would estimate 2080 yards/1904 meters total for the whole afghan. It will vary depending on the actual size you want to make the afghan. It is better to have to much yarn than not enough.

  • I am looking forward to trying this stitch, not looking forward to weaving all the ends in ! :)

  • The ends will not be so bad if you work them in as you go. If you do that you want to be pretty sure that you are not going to rip for any reason. I have ripped after sewing in the ends. It just makes it a bit more difficult to rip it out but it can be done.

  • Oh I am gonna try this blanket..I have so many babies that are entering the world and this would be a great blanket for one of them.

  • Hi I wanted to ask if I wanted to do a larger piece with this stitch, would it be easier to use a double ended crohook or it wouldn't matter because when you get to where you are leaving loops on the hook, you are only leaving seven at a time? Thanks for your guidance.

  • You can make this piece as large as you want to and still use the small hook. The end size of your project will not affect the loops on your hook unless you are making a modified larger wheel.

  • i like your crochet, but i will want to learn more on shell please you could send me more style and videos for i will

    thanks very much

  • You are a wonderful teacher!!! Thankyou

  • You are welcome. :)

  • I love your instructions for this pattern and love the slow motion to see what is being done. I love this pattern and glad I found your video. Thank you.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • perfect! Thank you soooo much

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Thank You!

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Hi Teresa, I'm so happy to have found this video! You do a GR8 job, Thank You! I have a question. If your not changing colors, (i'm using a verigated yarn) what do you do at the end of the foundation row? I'm guessing chain 3 and turn, but it looks like your starting out in the first DC stitch, when you added the new color... I'm a little confused. BTW, Thanks for ALL your videos, I'm enjoying Every one!

  • Thank you. You would chain 3, then turn. I also have symbol instructions posted on my crochet blog. They will give you a visual image of each stitch and each row. The link is to the right of the video under "More Info".

  • Hello, I am making a scarf out of this stitch and i want to do a hat to go with it. Do you have any suggestions on how to go about doing it? I am using three colors. Thanx for your help in advance. =)

  • I would suggest making all your increase rounds at the beginning of the cap with a single crochet or half double crochet and then do the pattern stitch.

  • Ok Thank you I will try it

  • i hear there is a stitch called a bead stitch ,& that is a copy of what i read "Bead Stitch:

Insert hook in stitch indicated, yarn over and pull up a loop,

(holding back last loop on hook, yarn over and pull through the first loop on the hook only) 3 times,

yarn over and pull through both loops on hook.

(NOTE: When you make the bead stitch, push the stitch to the back of the work)" can you please make a video a bout it :)

  • The way you describe it, it sounds like the cluster stitch with a single crochet or something on the backside of the stitches. I think I have an idea what you are describing.

  • I found it!! Thank you.

  • You are welcome.

  • Thank you so much for all of your tutorials. I am still confused about the 6 + 4. Can you explain that please? Thank you again!!!

  • I have written about multiples in detail on my crochet blog. Unfortunately I am not able to include links on the comment section. Let me know if you need help finding it.

  • yh well my little bro is 10 and has been knitting from the age of 7 and is starting to do himself a jumper. he has already done the back and the sleeve and now wants to start crocheting.

  • Thank you. There are over 200 crochet video's to choose from. You can ask anytime if you need help finding something. :)

  • Yes this is the Catherine's Wheel Stitch thank you very much. you are God Sent. and for the person that asked you can use 2 strands of yarn yes you can but it will make it very heavy but pretty as well. Teresa do you have a full pattern on this that you would like to share if you do can you send it to me thanks

  • Click on the "More Info" to the lower right of the video. There you will see the link to my crochet blog.

  • can you use two pieces of yarn for this ?

  • I would suggest making a swatch to see if you will like the results.

  • This is so neat. Extremely helpful tutorial. I'll have to try this someday. Thanks.

  • teresa this is wonderful thank you for posting this

  • You are welcome. :)

  • Thank you. :)

  • this is exactly what he was doing...i checked your blog and saw the photo. It boggles my mind that i can understand whats going on when i watch your video and i am totally lost when he tries to explain it. You do a great job of explaining what is going on. I am glad I found your tutorials! Is this easily done with crocheting with 2 yarns together?

  • Do you mean two yarns at the same time?

  • yes two yarns together :)

  • I have worked with two yarns together a lot but not with this stitch. You should be able to do it pretty easy with a larger hook.

  • nice one..

  • Very nice! thank you..

  • You are welcome. :)
