  • cool song dudes - heard it on the radio the other day and had to find out who sang it! Well have to say play it religiously - wild song

  • I bet Jenny is hot!

  • hipnotic

  • WRUUF WRUUF !

  • Great tune.. The drummer had an easy job :) lol

  • cool tune ..rivets my soul to the churning clouds across the sky.....or another way to put it would be "cool tune" or still another would be to say that this song is the same reality as a willys gasser wheelstanding at raceway park in cleremont indiana during a windy March run down the strip..lol...love this tune..tnx for posting

  • Never heard this before. Pretty cool.

  • Years back i had that song on my walkman. When i went skiing i would get off the lift, and get all my gear together and as soon as i was ready to bomb it, i'd hit the go button on the walkman. I could fly down the slopes with skiis as one and vedle so fast it looked like a windshield wiper. Man i got some odd looks. Don't think i could do that with any other song. Thks. STT for such a motivational piece.

  • I think that keyboard has a microwave built in it.

  • YES CHRIS BIRKIN!!! MY MATHS TEACHER!!! don't like him that much tho. gives us too much homework. mr. birkin playing the bass! :D

  • The lead singer is also an artist, he has a gallery on his website, check it out. Google, paul roberts.

  • IN ALL THE YEARS I HAVE SEEN THIS VIDEO, I HAVE NEVER KNOWN WHO THE LEGS MODEL IS, AND AM STILL WONDERING AS TO WHO SHE IS..... BUT CHISWICK RECORDS WON'T DIVULGE WHO SHE IS.... THAT IS SO "WROOOOOOOOOONNNNG"....

  • This reminds me of Booggie Nights......great porno music!

  • Thank-you for the info. :)

  • Does anyone know the name of the guy doing the back-up vocals?

  • @imasmurfy1 Don't know if this will help but the album liner notes list two additional back-up singers on "Driver's Seat"...Jim Nellis and Noel McCalla. He may be one of those two, as he is not pictured on the album with the other six band members.

  • @blinky705

It's Noel McCalla who was in Manfred Mann.

  • @imasmurfy1 horace porter

  • feel in love with this song in 79...met a girl named Jeni years later..and it all made sense....still LOVE her and the song forever...

  • thanks for the video great song, great rhythm

  • great song, kinda sounds like The Cars. rediculous name for a band though. Sniff n the Tears. seriously??

  • A song that the contributors should be proud of. Pop/Rock at its best...

  • This should have been on the MAIN soundtrack of Boogie Nights.

  • RIP Lil Bill

  • que temazo tan extraordinario,si muero por favor pongan la cinta en mi velorio y todas las que tengo en favoritos ¿yá?

  • Love this song!

  • Boogie. Nights.

  • Why isn't the black guy with the sunglasses wearing a Members Only jacket?

  • Sniff n Tears jams , great song.

  • damn. this is a good song.

  • Eric forman from that 70's show is the drummer!! haha :P

  • I discovered this song by chance back in Oman a couple of years ago on the local radio station - awesome - great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Classic! Great memories for this tune. Thanks!

  • 4 people are in the back seat

  • Jenny was sweet she was for real, now she got 8 kids and a step child

  • I love this song...would love to hear a mashup of this and Baker Street, RIP Jerry Rafferty, Anybody?

  • music for cruisin....superb.

  • Freakin love this song....makes me want to throw on my roller skates and and head to the skating rink like back in grade school. Brings back fun memories as a kid.

  • I wish I lived in the 70's. Back when the music was real!!!

  • @AtomicRooster77

I did; alas, that great decade is long gone.

  • The Tears hit #15 in Billboard, 9-29-79. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • one of the best rock songs ever made!!

  • Dude in sunglasses should decaffeinate!

  • @Stadia2024 Yea or kicked out.. what the hell's he there for anyway? Looks like a bum that was hanging outside the back of the club begging to work for a beer. Needless paycheck

  • I once heard 30 years ago a long version (6 minutes, NOT a maxi-single) of this song, with a more extended keyboards end...but I am afraid I never can find that anymore...But anyway this clacking song rest in my memory! The follow-up single *Driving Beat* was not of success anymore. This must have been a great (prog-rock) band!

  • @ludo281160

You can tell they cut off the end of the song, I think the lp version is longer than 3:41

  • is that really lenny kravits??? Prove that.

  • @yeti189 I think it is his father lol. Lenny was only 15 when this video was made :-)

  • Why do I listen to this over and over?

  • Had this 45. Cool tune,

  • that is lenny kravitz singing back up. he fucking rocks!!!!!!!!!!

  • @whiteamericanpower lenny kravitz ?? how did you know??

  • 4 dislikes???...reason?

  • radio station WPLJ back in the day

  • she had an other way of looking at life! always loved the melody of this song, and it haunts me....Janet was sweet!

  • Brilliant song indeed. Steady drum pattern.

  • DEDICATED TO ALL MOTORBIKES TRAVELLERS....

  • I've got the Vinyl! The album cover is as good a the song :-)

  • The.....colonel....

  • 1:26

Hey! I think I know her!

  • I agree with coolmodad in the top comments. My favorite radio station that I listened to for years WCCN just changed their format. What they call rock now is a joke, and it's crap.

I wrote the station and told them how bad their new format is, and I get the rubberstamp e-mail that "music has evolved and the guy who listened to rock is now in his late 40's and 50's , and we must change with the evolution of music". I am sorry, but all rock from the 50's to the late 80's and90's is it,period!

  • anyone ever listen to the rest of the album?...it got great reviews but alas i don't know one other song....i just want to keep playing this one over and over

  • I read that the backup singer had just flew in to do vocals and didn't have time to remove his flight jacket, scarf, and aviators because he had to fly back out after the song.

  • @GrayGhost8 I just heard recently that his son was on American Idol England and did well.

  • Jenny is quite the girl in these older songs.

  • I play this boating.. real loud and @ 2:31 throttle up to 60 and CRUISE!!!

  • c trop bon

  • am 19 and THIS SONG ROCKS!!!!!

  • @swat305GINO SAME HERE! haha

  • One of the most underated songs of all time.

  • Thanks for posting what a great awesome tune!

  • The keyboard player looks like an accountant

  • @frepi hahaha :) yes it does

  • @frepi That's nothing... the background singer looks like a young Laurence Fishburne.

  • the guitar is is a yamaha

  • i like huggy bear dancing

  • temazo absoluto,potente,claro,resuelto ...me gusta a concho...

  • I remember this song when it came out! And every time it came on the raido I would have to listen to the whole song no matter what. Just Awesome and still sounds great after all this time. And you never forget how the song goes. Today's crap music I forget in a heartbeat! Or try to.

  • Memories of my freshman year at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge and Hatcher Hall Dorm.

  • Awesome song and not a bad video for the times.... a little driving on a saturday night

  • Sniff 'n' the Tears opened up for Kansas on the Monolith tour, if I'm not mistaken.

  • The cool night air of late September 1979 wafts through the open windows of Marks new Mustang GT as we cruise UNL campus in the never ending search for girls. KFMQ FM blasts Sniff 'n' the tears through the Mustangs speakers as the night breeze mixes with smell of new vinyl and Jovan Musk cologne. Finally, we turn down 16th street, sorority row! It's gonna be a good night boys!

    Ah to be 21 again

  • ONE OF THOSE SONG YOU JUST CANT GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD.

  • I love whomever made the comment that Laurence Fishburne had used this band to make his career in movies! hahaha!

  • I think of an old girfriend of yester year.

  • One of the greatest songs ever, and a video revealing the innocence of the band and the new medium called music video. My favorite moments are Loz Netto smirking and the background vocals with not one backing person at the mic (1:53). Still a groundbreaker and a timeless classic.

  • What kind of guitar is the lead playing? Been bugging me...

    Awesome song.

  • @tuco666 I think the black guitar is a Gibson ES semi-hollowbody, but im not positive. Any help out there?

  • @oldthrash83 i was gonna say maybe its a yamaha?

  • Good steady Bass, Rythym, and that drummer keeps the momentum. Oh, this number is Just right!

  • this is cruisin music ........absolutely a classic

  • I've always said this song belonged at the beginning of the '70s and not the end, it was such cool retro, and like some others here, drove me crazy trying to find it, too. Great stuff, nice to find a vid here.

  • sometimes a group produces what turns out to be a classic, and this is a perfect example. to my knowledge they never produced anything that remotely troubled the charts or airwaves, but i bought this and it is still a regular on radio 2-not bad lads!

  • this is one of the best songs made but the group i dont know :P

  • The Bass Guitarist is now my Maths Teacher!!! No lie !!! XD XD

  • @TheMadster9000 : Awesome - You are very lucky!!

  • this song reminds me of a girl I like....there's no way 'll stop listening to it,besides it's one of the best songs I've ever heard

  • Loaded with hooks...just like Dire Straits early stuff......and around the same period!

  • good song to drive to for some reason

  • This is Power Pop at its best. Rock solid rhythm section.

  • This song drove me nuts for years, I'd heard it years ago when I was like 10 or something and then it disappeared and then I'd catch little snippets somewhere's now and again and I'd go crazy trying to find out who did this absolute masterpiece. It wasn't until I saw Boogie Nights on T.V one night that I finally nailed it down, Sniff 'n' the Tears! What the heck kinda name is that for a band??? Anyways, one of my all time faves, incredible tune.

  • Perfection in kool rocking... Sure sounds like Blue Oyster Cult....

  • Excellent! This one has the best sound.

  • Doing alright A little driving on a Saturday night And come what may Gonna dance the day away Jenny was sweet Show a smile for the people she needs I'm trouble, let's drive, I don't know the way you came alive News is blue (the news is blue) Has its own way to get to you What can I do (what can I do) When I remember my time with you Pick up your feet Got to move to the trick of the beat There is no lead Just take your place in the driver's seat
  • Doing alright A little jiving on a Saturday night And come what may Gonna dance the day away Jenny was sweet Show a smile for the people she needs I'm trouble, let's drive, I don't know the way you came alive News is blue (the news is blue) Has its own way to get to you What can I do (what can I do) When I remember my time with you Pick up your feet Got to move to the trick of the beat There is no lead Just take your place in the driver's seat
  • This song is about Driving not Jiving.....I remember watching a special on VH1 as a kid called mispelled lyrics and the band members said the proper lyrics are a littly driving on a saturday night...after all read the title of the song, which makes more sense?

  • A jam-and-a-half

  • fond memories...life a little calmer !!!!!

  • I dream to listen this song on 1967 eleanor shelby mustang

    classic for ever

  • @142414244 i have a 68 fastback sitting in my garage

  • like this song when im in my v8 land rover discovery mmmm big v8 ss

  • This is one of my favourite songs of all time. I just wish they didn't cut the end so short--it's missing the last few notes which gives this song that extra bit o' kick.

  • I wish they didn't cut the end so short--it's missing the last few notes which gives this song that extra bit o' kick.

  • I LOVE This song.it rocks my world.the bass line and the black guys voice and the keyboard.wooohoooo crank it up!!!

  • I love the black guy..

  • Good song. Remember this one when I was about 13 or 14 the late, long haired 70s.

  • Great groove. Totally had forgotten about this song until a friend posted on facebook...

  • I remember listening to the 45 in my basement over and over....

  • 1:14 looks exactly like P. Carter from the Panmunjom QRF.

  • Ageless song, one of the best of all time.

  • I wish I was a teenager in the 1970's. I feel I was born in the wrong time.

  • OmG! Thirty years? Damn, I'm old. But this song still rocks!!!!!

  • @soapkat59 Song came out in '78, so 32 Years! I'm 50, I know about feeling Old!

OMG my dad keeps listing to this song

    && it gets soo annoying..

    btw its a kewl song...

  • @xxCONKLINxx

That is so funny. I keep listening to this song and it is driving my daughter nuts! Basically, your dad totally rocks!

  • Thanks, bruce / RCP Sounds like a Gibson,!!! in another youtube film (same track) hes playing a Gibson, Les Paul..

  • 2 people dont like this? That Is Impossible!!!

  • The other guitar in the vid is either a Hayman, or might be a custom made guitar based on a Hayman. Hayman was a U.K. builder back in the early-mid 70's. I have never seen a Hayman with a Gibson stop tail bridge. The headstock also isn't anything like the Haymans that I have seen.

  • This is the quality of the music we had when we were young. Rock on all you plus 40's out there and weep for the younger crowd for they have, well lets say, less brilliant music than we did.

  • @coolmodad that's where you r wrong my friend, they have "our" music, and i'm happy to say that im re-discovering it all over again! we just have to stick together, bring along a youngster with us and show them the way!! but i know what you mean and i'm with you, lady g=** , .... lady g**_ ah jees, see, i can't even say it, .. :)

  • THAT GUITAR RIFF BANGING AWAY THROUGH THIS GREAT TRACK IS ABSOLUTLY BRILLIENT, DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT GUITAR IT IS..(NOT THE TELECASTER)

  • Comment removed

  • @Rockers54 Judging by the headstock and body shape, it looks like a Gibson

  • Brings back memories!!!

  • @beechcroft161 great times eh??

  • the singer seems pissed

  • brilliant song!!

  • If I had to be a one hit wonder this would be definitely be one of my choice's for that hit

  • Very underated song, just kick-ass! thanks for posting.

  • DAMN!!!! drank alot of beer and smoked alot of weed to this song. great crusing song, lot of memerories, possibly the best song ever. keep rockin everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

  • Lots of memories...late 70's...disco sucked...this song just blew me away. Lots of beer consumed during this song and cruising...Damn good times.

  • wow !!!! was für ein burner 1a yeaahhhh

  • yessssssssss.....

  • Timeless music. was born the year this song came out. Thanks for posting androusmore and for youtube,

  • The guitar player kinda looks like Ralph Macchio. Damn..I LOVE THIS SONG!! Thanks for the post!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wicked song featured in boogie nights

  • The Crown Royal is making me mellow. Follow me to Sufficiently Breathless by Captain Beyond. So mellow I'm melting.

  • yes-yes-yes...

  • plz tell me those were womans legs

  • Classic one hit wonder. Better to get it right once than not at all!

  • This is the greatest hits album for this group. One song.

  • Since no one else has said it....I will!

Nice legs! Not a bad song either.

  • @n8tureboy

thanks, i've been working out. jk, i know you mean the woman's legs in the video;)

  • Why this song isnt more popular is beyond me. Awesome.

  • This song never gets old.

  • Really cool - brings back old / ex girl friends and the best of times.

  • Really cool - brings back great memories.

  • great drums!!!!

  • When you still required some talent to succeed and we could understand the words. A great piece.

  • Very vaguely, I remembered this song back in the 1970's.

  • Can someone confirm if this song is in the new Lincoln MKS relaunch commercial? It sounds like a remake, but it's bugging the *hit out of me. Thanks for the help.

  • @nomad6886

You got it. But it's a club remake of it.

  • Incredible and hypnotic song....

  • The drummer has the most boring job in the world. lol

    Love the song though.

  • Actually, if he was doing fills or varying his beat too greatly, or worse, showing off, then it would be to the detriment of the song, the intent is monotonic, hypnotic and he is in a minimalist repetitive groove, he's doing a bit more than it seems, too........Anyway, just my two-cents worth.... :)
