Bungie made new problems from trying to fix the old ones . . . I really don't understand why they have such a hard time balancing games, I could do it.
If you ask me, they need to stop making shitty maps that no one likes, and bring back fucking Headlong and Hang Em' High.
I mean, fuck, Bungie, is it really THAT hard to stop sucking cocks and LISTEN to your fans? Halo 2 had the best maps out of the Halo games and you know that. People were happy to go out and buy the map packs. And if they didn't oh well, they could still play matches. But now, if you don't have the newest shitty DLC, your playlist is slashed in half.
the double beatdown thing was in halo 3 but to be honest i find halo 3's movement speed about half that of reach and while the jumping isn't as high it isn't like they nerfed movement but thats just how i feel about it. Halo CE movement speed was really fast compared to 3 and reach.
question open to all: why do some players do that twitch with their dmr/br as soon as they spawn? Is it to loosen up? It gets annoying after you watch a few "pro" gameplays.
@mln10 I've been told that this is mostly habit from Halo: CE. The pistol in CE needed to be re-calibrated every so often and the people who played CE got in a habit of doing that circle thing when they spawned
you guys covered a lot of good points. but the reason why halo was so catchy when it first came out because it was sooo simple but yet so unique. now the are just getting off track and too technical, like the bloom, the grenades, and the loadouts. the game play itself is just wayy to slow in this game, even mlg is boring. no one likes sloww, everyone likes fast. (; so bungie needs to get off this noob dick they're riding and get with the shit. oh yeah. and they ranking system sucks ass.
agree with everything you have to say about reach. hit all the main shitty things about reach. i also think gamers for change is a straight retarded idea, but w.e. i like all your vids
If you do a part 3, please talk about the ridiculous aim assist and hitboxes in game.
A 4 year old could literally pick up the XBOX controller and within 10 minutes of playing be good enough to get at least 3 snipes in a game. The ease of it is simply mind blowing, even easier, than, dare I say, Halo 2.
If you do another version though, be sure to talk about the much superior netcoding in Reach compared to H3. It's lightyears better than H3, and makes that part of the game much more enjoyable.
You can jetpack away from a nade, evade, sprint, or Armour lock. So really so have your opportunities. Plus a gernade has a bit of lighting around it so you are able to sence it around corners
I think I agree with all these points too... I would add that more maps with vehicles would add a fun factor to the game. A ghost on Asylum would make that map that much more enjoyable for me. At least put on more mongeese, just to add the option of screwing around, trying to get crazy splatters every once in a while...
The Noble map pack is really a great addition. I would say that all three maps are better than any of the on-disk maps. It's really a big improvement.
Dear God, Bungie needs to see this. All your points were right on for this topic. Even the grenade thing... I knew they were overpowered, but I was unable to identify why... I just thought they were way too powerful... Damn. This is a really good commentary...
I honestly think I prefer the H3 version of melee more. I absolutely despise that there is no bleedthrough, and all the stuff you said about the better player winning anyway is fine when you're just talking about it, but against an opponent determined to double melee you, I would bet that you would be unable to pull that off in the heat of the battle except on rare occasions. I think melee damage could be tweaked in some way as well, maybe do separate damage to shield vs unshielded?
@IAmARad I like how the MLG rules handle it; they reduce melee damage to 75% of normal (or something like that) so that if your shields are down, you still get killed in one melee, but if you've got full shields it'll take 3 melees since there's no bleedthrough. This means even if you only get one pistol/DMR shot off, you'll win the melee fight.
second thing i want to comment on is what you said about the maps. i dont understand your point with the multi-layered maps. ever play on colossus or construct? every halo game has had multi-layered maps. only difference is reach fixed the problem of not knowing where someone is with the different red dots depending on the Y position of the enemy. a lot of halo reach maps are halo 2 remakes anyway.
@ihmen look at colossus or construct and compare them to sword base, they are both pretty much symetrical, then sword base is just a a fucking spiral of bridges to get to the top, with one lift with a shotgun that spawns like right next to it.
nerf the beatdowns? remember in halo 2 where it took like 5 beatdowns to kill someone and was so bad it had to get patched? the problem with halo 3 was the beatdowns were too powerful. like you said, it took no skill to shoot for 1sec then beatdown for an easy kill. the system in reach is probably the best its gonna get, its not perfect but its hella better than halo 3. just make sure the shield is down before you melee, or melee and do a headshot. theres a lot of options in reach, unlike halo 3
I like the fact that the maps are more complicated. Now, noobs cant get easy nade kills off of me! :) This also means players are going to have to think quickly and find a good nade bounce to either kill or wound the enemy. PERFECT :)
i just use my dmr and try to stay away from them as much as possible so they cant melee me and the maps are fine to me they just need to make map movement easier like in the cage, top balcony is the chair of god
You're so right about the maps. Swordbase is a perfect example of how these big sprawling multi-level maps are pointless: all the action inevitably gets concentrated at the top level in and around yellow lift. Add to that a 30 second walk to get to any action after you have spawned and you have another factor that greatly reduces the flow of the game.
I also don't like how the maps are so plain and the same color. If you think about it, the majority of the maps are forge maps which have some flaws and are just grey. Maps like the pit and guardian which were in different environments were in my opinion far more enjoyable. And when i say plain, i mean it's just like blocks and buildings from forge.
Very true, I remember reading some forum post somewhere about how they would like a Forge world map featuring multiple different terrains. Their idea was a bit grand and involved having a map3 or 4 times bigger than the current forge world, but I personally like the idea of a Forge Map pack, featuring different terrain styles, new building block sets, and new FX balls that feature weather such as snow or rain or sandstorms. I would love the ability to make Backwash again.
@NoobsWhoEatCandy You are right, but the ONLY FPS games I've played with colors that aren't brown, gray, or green is Timesplitters 1-3 and occasionaly the older (old like NightFire) 007 games.
If you ever played TimeSplitters, you must know that they also have a variety of characters that aren't super gay.
The only problem is, that its only for 6th generattion consoles.
ok, reach is not halo 3. halo 3 is melee oriented. you succeed by rushing and using your gun to do most of the work. reach is a sniper oriented game. you succeed if you hang back and use range to get the kills. Why, you ask? because this now puts new gamers and pros on a more equal battlefield.
You should have talked about the perks "side abilities", such as armour lock kncking out your shield/ taking out vehicles; also Invisibility and how it jams your radar. I feel like these are unecisary, causing my Hatrid towards these uneeded nusciances. Armour lock has ruined countless amounts of my multi kills, cause me to lose countless DMR battles even though I should have won(them armour locking and a teammate taking me out while I wait for example). What are your guys's oppinions?
You also forgot to mention that grenades just don't like to bounce sometimes. Like I feel like I'm throwing my grenade into snow when I'm playing on reflection. Halo 3 had grenade physics perfect.
i honestly can agree with what you guys are saying.
bungi doesn't solve a problem directly, they want to just act smart and think of a complicated way to change up the game. Which then doesn't solve the problem completely and it creates even more problems.
One thing I think you guys should cover is the weapon ties. In halo 3, when they patched for the beatdown tie, everybody was upset. In reach, they seemed to have taken it to a whole new level. I have killed someone with a shotgun, watched their body fall, and then been "killed by a "headshot" from that very same person. And bulltrues don't seem to be actual bulltrues anymore. Am I the only one to notice this?
In a way, the armor abilities are even. Last vid, you said that armor lock is godly. This vid, you said that sprint is. So if you think about it, they all have their advantages, so therefore all make it an even fight. I will use armor lock in close quarter maps like Zealot and Countdown, but I'll use sprint/evade in maps like Asylyum and I'll use jetpack for maps like Reflection. It's all about the map, just pick the one that's right for the map and you'll be ok.
since all n00b got to reach the really pro and skilled players stayed in halo 3 thats all true theres allready no n00b scrubs in MLG at level 50 only skilled people =) h3 was the best and allways will be !
Is anyone else dissapointed about the configuration of bumper jumper in halo reach. It is basically inferior because of where the armor ability button is located (x).
I believe the only armor ability that is castrated due to the bumper jumper configuration is jetpack, that is undeniably the hardest one to use while on bumper jumper. I just try to avoid it, but if I do have to use jetpack, I'll switch to default.
@Pengy945 It's only inferior if you don't make your hand in a sorta semi-claw formation. You basically have to use your index finger to press buttons, your middle finger for the right bumper, and your ring finger for the trigger. Your left hand is index finger on bumper, middle on trigger like in Halo 3(at least, that's how I did it.) It's a little awkward at first, but after a while you won't even realize your doing it.
ok hey tedy13 what i don't like about reach is when you run and try to beat them down and fucking guy no scope you close up that happen to me about like 6 times the maps are kinda gay only good one is forge world ;| other need some new updates

if you know the game mechanic, simply keep shooting if you have their shield downed enough, and watch for the pop before you melee. i personally think it is much fairer and dont think that the melee could be made better. i think that the armour abilities are great too. in general, i think you guys make interesting arguments but i agree with almost none of them.
the only thing i like is the idea behind your channel and the gameplay. still, nice job, and subbed :)
@J8Dust8 i like how nice you are and all but you just stated your opinion and never backed it up... which is pretty foolish. so tell us why you think all of those things about reach being "fairer" and also tell us what you didn't agree with and why.
@MrMrrRNELLi absolutely, i ran out of characters remaining. first off, i think that with the melee's, all you honestly need to do is keep your distance instead of rushing at him, or if you cant avoid him, keep shooting so that you keep the advantage. he has to recover from the melee before he can shoot. the ar can still take people down quite well withot melee, and bungie has done an excellent job with balancing weapons. i think that bloom is only a problem because people are not used to ...
@J8Dust8 it's all good. but yeah when you said that if you keep shooting you keep the advantage that's not true if they beat you down. bc then you're only damage is what you shot and then you're completely one shot and even if you trade beat downs its only even then.
@MrMrrRNELLi people just arenjt used to recoil in halo. it seems like you guys are expecting a remake of precious halo's with minor tweaks. they made a fairly different game. Armour abilities enhance the diversity of the gameplay. they make encounters different, and reward players who have faster mental reactions to situations, and diverse playstyles. i think mobility, with jet pack and sprint, is not an issue.
on that note, halo 3 pistol sucked, and the commentary had an entertaining pace.
@J8Dust8 yeah i just can't really agree with you. and it would be nice if they just brought back halo 2 with some added maps and stuff. but honestly what really bothers me is the total slow down of reach compared to even halo 1. it just isn't as amazing when somone "out dmrs" someone else. nothing in this game is half as rewarding as anything in any other halo.
@MrMrrRNELLi i have to say i get immense satisfaction out of this game and cant agree with you either. but at least we disagreed without nameflinging and acting like idiots :)
@J8Dust8 yeah i guess that's true. but what makes it more sad is the fact that we are celebrating that we spoke like regular humans... instead of questioning why we don't when we don't. but back to halo i just really could never get excited about out-dmring someone compared to out BRing someone with a sick gandhi hop jump at the end... but hey to each his own.
Personally, I think that the beatdown in halo 3 may have been annoying but both players could use that tactic. Where as in halo reach it gives it an unfair advantage.
Halo Reach is funner than both Halo 2 and Halo 3. Although Halo 2 seemed funner way back when, if you were to play multiplayer now (LAN), you would notice that it isn't as enjoyable as Reach.
@SwagBucksXD reach is not more fun then any other halo, it may be just as enjoyable in moments, as the other halos were, but i cant sit down playing reach for endless hours like i could halo 3 or halo 2. the speed at which the game plays, armour abilities being completely broken, and most of the things alex and rajan talked about, make reach a LESS enjoyable game, for most true halo fans out there.
OK. I get what you guys are saying, but regarding the beatdown system, the solution is to never ever press the melee button until you know your opponents shields have popped. In H3 you could still get 2BD in AR battles. i think Reach is much less slap happy. I find I get many fewer melee kills and more weapon kills in this game. Also, the maps have been designed for the use of all armour abilities so of course we'd see more vertical gameplay.
Halo 1 melees were hard as hell, and Halo 2 beatdown were originally incredibly underpowered, and even after the patch, it took 3 beatdowns to kill a person from full shields if you had no momentum going into it.
@GamersForChange Well, I gues not in Halo 1 since i just went back and played it on PC. Halo 2 was a bit underpowered I guess ;p I don't remember them that well so I'm playing both on PC now xD
I agree absolutely. But in halo 3 I think they changed the beat down system like Reach, I played halo 3 matchmaking the other day, and the beat down system seemed to work exactly like Reach's.. I also I wish Reach grenades weren't so strong in Reach there way to over powered.

J8Dust8 1 year ago
@J8Dust8 it's all good. but yeah when you said that if you keep shooting you keep the advantage that's not true if they beat you down. bc then you're only damage is what you shot and then you're completely one shot and even if you trade beat downs its only even then.
MrMrrRNELLi 1 year ago
@MrMrrRNELLi people just arenjt used to recoil in halo. it seems like you guys are expecting a remake of precious halo's with minor tweaks. they made a fairly different game. Armour abilities enhance the diversity of the gameplay. they make encounters different, and reward players who have faster mental reactions to situations, and diverse playstyles. i think mobility, with jet pack and sprint, is not an issue.
on that note, halo 3 pistol sucked, and the commentary had an entertaining pace.
J8Dust8 1 year ago
@J8Dust8 yeah i just can't really agree with you. and it would be nice if they just brought back halo 2 with some added maps and stuff. but honestly what really bothers me is the total slow down of reach compared to even halo 1. it just isn't as amazing when somone "out dmrs" someone else. nothing in this game is half as rewarding as anything in any other halo.
MrMrrRNELLi 1 year ago
@MrMrrRNELLi i have to say i get immense satisfaction out of this game and cant agree with you either. but at least we disagreed without nameflinging and acting like idiots :)
J8Dust8 1 year ago
@J8Dust8 yeah i guess that's true. but what makes it more sad is the fact that we are celebrating that we spoke like regular humans... instead of questioning why we don't when we don't. but back to halo i just really could never get excited about out-dmring someone compared to out BRing someone with a sick gandhi hop jump at the end... but hey to each his own.

@J8Dust8 that's what we're about :)

bllllim 1 year ago
@bllllim Armor Lock is definitely not OP, and I freaking hate it.

@bllllim they talked about that in a different video which was part 1

Personally, I think that the beatdown in halo 3 may have been annoying but both players could use that tactic. Where as in halo reach it gives it an unfair advantage.
EverythingElec 1 year ago
Halo Reach is funner than both Halo 2 and Halo 3. Although Halo 2 seemed funner way back when, if you were to play multiplayer now (LAN), you would notice that it isn't as enjoyable as Reach.
SwagBucksXD 1 year ago
@SwagBucksXD reach is not more fun then any other halo, it may be just as enjoyable in moments, as the other halos were, but i cant sit down playing reach for endless hours like i could halo 3 or halo 2. the speed at which the game plays, armour abilities being completely broken, and most of the things alex and rajan talked about, make reach a LESS enjoyable game, for most true halo fans out there.

@iMxVayne Nah, Halo 1 still trumps Halo 2 IMO. Can't beat the classic
aauron34 1 year ago
@aauron34 oh i agree totally but halo 2 was the first real xbox live experience =]
iMxVayne 1 year ago
@iMxVayne Halo CE for the PC would technically be the first online Halo experience . Just had to say it :P

WHHHAAAT? I loved the magnum in Halo 3. It was a straight up BAMF
MrRUSTYizSWO 1 year ago 11
It was BAMF, but it sure as hell wasn't effective.

@GamersForChange Well atleast i was rapin nubs with it :)
MrRUSTYizSWO 1 year ago
@GamersForChange
Underrated yes but there were many situations where it was actually quite effective, especially compared to an AR. Not always of course but still.

Also, the maps have been designed for the use of all armour abilities so of course we'd see more vertical gameplay.
flatliner974 1 year ago
Um, the melee thing happened in almost every Halo game.
Halo12396 1 year ago 5
Halo 1 melees were hard as hell, and Halo 2 beatdown were originally incredibly underpowered, and even after the patch, it took 3 beatdowns to kill a person from full shields if you had no momentum going into it.
GamersForChange 1 year ago 8
@GamersForChange Well, I gues not in Halo 1 since i just went back and played it on PC. Halo 2 was a bit underpowered I guess ;p I don't remember them that well so I'm playing both on PC now xD
Halo12396 1 year ago
@GamersForChange Halo 2's beatdowns were not underpowered don't you recall the BXB? Two melee's and you were dead.
SevenRayedGod 1 year ago
@SevenRayedGod Wasn't that patched though? I dunno, I didn't have Live back in the H2 days.
EbolaZidane 1 year ago
@EbolaZidane Actually that was the patch, and after came the infamous BXR & BXB's.

You should talk more about the maps, i think they are the main thing that slows down the gameplay
LiuGondor 1 year ago
I agree absolutely. But in halo 3 I think they changed the beat down system like Reach, I played halo 3 matchmaking the other day, and the beat down system seemed to work exactly like Reach's.. I also I wish Reach grenades weren't so strong in Reach there way to over powered.

I strongly agree.
