Not really huge, but significant. Power to weight is everything and adding more power usually means adding more weight in the front of a car, which makes the balance worse.

I am getting worn out with all of these apples to oranges ponycar videos. Look guys, it's not difficult. The Camaro SS is most comparable to, and is marketed toward the same customer as the Mustang GT. The Boss 302 (Which is gorgeous, and looks like great fun) is marketed toward the same customer and is comparable to the Camaro ZL1 (aka Z28) that is on the way. Let's see a ZL1 and a Boss 302 match up.
@Aelleor: I agree and disagree with you. The part I disagree with is the boss being comparable to the ZL1. The new GT500 which comes out in May is most comparable to the new ZL1. To me the only other real comparison right now is the GT 5.0 vs. the SS.
@V8Supercar1 What do you think will turn a faster lap time on a reasonably tight road course; The Boss 302, or the GT500, with 650ish Horse, and a straight rear end? That kind of power/weight ratio puts it nose to nose with the ZR1...in a straight line, at least.
The Boss 302 was the answer to the Z28 in 1969, and I think they still compare, even if the Camaro doesn't have the right badging.
@Aelleor: Well not really. The ZR1 is still much much lighter (roughly 400lbs lighter) and still more aerodynamic even though the aerodynamics has improved on the 2013 GT500. But I think the GT500 should be able to put down a better lap time vs. the boss even on a tight course. Car and Driver has stated the car has more down force and is actually putting the power down pretty well.
@Aelleor I'd say the ZL1 is marketed towards the GT500 crowd considering its $55,000 price tag and supercharged engine. The Boss is priced close to $15,000 less even the Laguna Seca version is 7 grand cheaper.
I'm not at all surprised with the results. I own a 2011 SS and the first thing I did was suspension and sub frame bushings upgrades. If GM ever goes ahead with the 1LE concept then it would be a better race.

@MegaGuitarification MRC (Magnetic Ride Control) is a dual coil, twin wire dampening system. Basically electricity runs through and stiffens all the particles, creating a VERY responsive and stable suspension that has the ability to completely change in milliseconds . LSA is the engine designed for the CTS-V from the LS3. A lot of the parts that the LS3 and LSA don't share are LS9 parts.

@MegaGuitarification I got confused, and thought you were talking about the ZL1 Boss 302 LS discussion. The Camaro SS gets the jump off the line because of better/wider tires, more usable power down low, and dramatic amounts of torque. The Boss 302 had a bit of tire spin too, a problem the Camaro SS rarely has. Also, I've assumed that since they don't show the inside of the Camaro it's probably an automatic, so super easy to launch.
@MegaGuitarification That's any of the new Mustangs with a stick shift, not just the Boss and GT500. Obviously the GT is easier to launch with less power, but it's really the tires. Ford is killing themselves with the crap tires they keep using.

My local dealer had a Boss 302, and I was among some customers invited to drive it, and(at least the one i drove) it was equipped with Launch Control. I'm sure you've heard of LC so you don't need the explanation, but I found the car would hookup nicely with little wheelspin at 4k rpm. The car I drove had Pirelli p-zero tires. I'm not saying they are the best tire, just seemed to work for me

The Boss 302 is not made for drag racing, and after the cars were moving the Boss looked to be behind by more than a car length, but catches up and is out front by turn 2. The Boss was made for the track, and thats where it shines, having put down faster times than BMW m3, and Audi r8 at Nurburgring and Laguna Seca.

The ZL1 stomped on it. The GT500 won't handle as well as the 302 LS, but it might be able to take curbs with it's weight.
@ADD8oi Zl1 hasn't been lauched for sale yet, but it's been in production for months. The ZL1 has been proven to dominate the Boss 302 LS in a motortrend test that will come out in magazine in March. The ZL1 dominated the time boards at the Nurburgring too

@Wowmasta21 Corvettes have transverse mono-leafs that react and handle the suspension the same way a coil spring does. The springs don't actually stabilize the wheels, MRC (which is available on the Z06 and ZR1) does that work..and because of MRC the Z06 and ZR1 have become some of the fastest vehicles on the planet.

Basically electricity runs through and stiffens all the particles, creating a VERY responsive and stable suspension that has the ability to completely change in milliseconds . LSA is the engine designed for the CTS-V from the LS3. A lot of the parts that the LS3 and LSA don't share are LS9 parts.

@MegaGuitarification I got confused, and thought you were talking about the ZL1 Boss 302 LS discussion. The Camaro SS gets the jump off the line because of better/wider tires, more usable power down low, and dramatic amounts of torque. The Boss 302 had a bit of tire spin too, a problem the Camaro SS rarely has. Also, I've assumed that since they don't show the inside of the Camaro it's probably an automatic, so super easy to launch.

My local dealer had a Boss 302, and I was among some customers invited to drive it, and(at least the one i drove) it was equipped with Launch Control. I'm sure you've heard of LC so you don't need the explanation, but I found the car would hookup nicely with little wheelspin at 4k rpm. The car I drove had Pirelli p-zero tires. I'm not saying they are the best tire, just seemed to work for me

The Boss 302 is not made for drag racing, and after the cars were moving the Boss looked to be behind by more than a car length, but catches up and is out front by turn 2. The Boss was made for the track, and thats where it shines, having put down faster times than BMW m3, and Audi r8 at Nurburgring and Laguna Seca.

The ZL1 stomped on it. The GT500 won't handle as well as the 302 LS, but it might be able to take curbs with it's weight.

The springs don't actually stabilize the wheels, MRC (which is available on the Z06 and ZR1) does that work..and because of MRC the Z06 and ZR1 have become some of the fastest vehicles on the planet.

Also, you don't have a Boss 302..your dad does. It's Ford's fault they don't offer proper tires for their vehicles (even though the Boss 302 LS that got murdered by the ZL1 was using barely legal tires).
