Each note is either fully off or on so you may not be fingering correctly and you could still get it to sound okay. It does have limitations but I still find it very useful!
Are these sensitive to detect crossing noises? As a practice tool, if you can't hear crossing noises and correct them, that seems like it would be a disadvantage to the e-pipes.
