  • As with almost every remake, the original is actually about something more significant than Liz Hurley's body. Even at their lightest, Cook and Moore are still exploring themes like the nature of good and evil and the problems inherent in Biblical mythology. Proof that the best comedy isn't just a bunch of stupid bits thrown together.

  • A lot of people criticise Peter Cook's acting in this film. I think he was brilliant. A wonderful aloofness. Our greatest comedian.

  • Aside from being one of the funniest films ever made, this also offered comments of great depth and perception about Good and Evil, God and the Devil (as in this scene - and the Devil definitely comes across as the more attractive of the two), and Religion in general. In fact, it wouldn't be so funny if it weren't so true.

  • love this scene

  • The remake is just another boring, corny, crappy gringo-crap.

This version, the original, is so adorable!

  • I didn't know this original existed! I loved the remake (just because of Brandon, honestly)...but this looks MUCH better. I HAVE to see this whole show now!

  • Love Pete and Dud!

  • Yeah, the original was so better. I watched about fifteen minutes of the re-make and turned it off. It was just boring. I didn't laugh once. But this: it's even better than The Day of the Triffids. And I'm not being sarcastic. Love it.

  • I just saw this recently and it is SO much funnier than the remake.

  • totaly agree

in the newer one, they dont wear red socks...

  • Red socks would be too radical, people would have thought it was a 'secret coded message' from the NWO/ Beiderbeck Group/Vatican 'Opus Dei' secret society (odd secret if everyone knows about) ... since God knows everything it can hardly be a 'secret society' or is that a George Spiggot miracle (he moves in a very mysterious way you know or do you)? A truly classic movie - the kind we fail to make now just in case ot offends someone ... RIP Peter and Dudley the BEST of British comedy

  • I feel ashamed that i have never seen the original, i am defo buying this.

  • i want to talk like that, lal lalal la la la la

  • my roommate and his girlfriend are in the living room watching the remake and he is insisting that it is better than the original. he can be a damn fool sometimes. you just can't touch the brilliant classic comedy of peter cook and dudley moore. absolutely bloody brilliant.

  • the remake is a travesty. I can't believe what the film industry do sometimes. Liz hurley in place of Peter Cook??? What the hell? retarded, truly.

  • My own favourite scene - if someone would be so kind as to post it - is the one where PC has to prove to DM he's the Devil by bringing him his heart's desire, which at that particular moment happens to be a Fab lolly.

That, incidentally, is not the punchline, just the set-up. Although if it were the Brendon Fraser remake they'd probably have left the joke there.

  • can someone please upload this movie? i like this it, it's just i can't find it anywhere. no stores or anything. and i really want to watch it all. thanks.

  • you can purchase this film at amazon

  • or hmv

  • this film makes me wee =] the remake was so bad. and elizabeth hurley cant act. as if pete and dud could ever be outdone.

  • Thats a really really goooooooooooood movie!

Much better than the new one!

  • Yep i like the DVD music when u start the movie :^D

  • i like this one better than that new one! my mum just got it off amazon :-D!!! (the old one)

  • One of the best explanations for the fall of Lucifer --if you believe in that sort of thing. ^_^

  • LOL, the red socks!!

  • I think this is my favorite movie.

  • Does anyone know where to get the music from this fim. The music for the opening credits written by Dudley Moore is absolutely beautiful.....and I can't find it anywhere!

  • It's on ebay. Item# 350002915186

    Mint condition

  • Thanks for this Pickerman......

  • I think it's hilarious. I enjoy watching the background of what appears to be mid 1960's London. Anybody remember it from real life ? I've never been there though, but it's a fascinating place. And the end of this clip is a hoot:

God is English, of course. Very upper crust.

  • In this movie the Devil is portrayed as a sympathetic character.

  • Geniuses! I love this movie and I think Peter and Dudley are GREAT!!! Long live both of them!

  • One of my fav's. The remake was utter crap.

  • Love Pete and Dud!

  • england is an atheists majority

  • I quite like the music and the Devil's story does kinda make sense!

  • how is that?

  • Sooooooooooo much better than the Brendan Fraser/Liz Hurley piece of crap. This was actually WITTY.

  • Heh heh quite funny!

  • God is English! And since he is upper class it means he went to English Public Schools. That explains quite a lot about the old testament actually.

  • if god was english he would be an atheist

grapple with that for a bit

english public schools are fine, i think most of the racism, gay hating type stuff goes on over the other side of the atlantic

    then south a bit

  • You have no actual knowledge of any of this, but TV and movies say it's true, so it must be. If it helps you sleep at night to believe there's no racism in the UK then dream on, Pollyanna.

  • there is some

but you cme from the us, the place where there are actually laws in place to hurt minorities simply due to race, belief and sexuality, i'd like to see you find one of them from the uk

  • Yeah but we never got round to burning black people while wearing flour sacks over our heads and carrying burning crosses ... Get real racism exists everywhere, it is how YOU address it and tackle it. Want to be that Britain will have a black PM decades before the US has a black president ...

  • love this movie and thank you for the clip! i wish they would release it on dvd in the US.

  • It's coming out on DVD in April!

  • Great. Thanks for that clip. The film poured scorn upon the sycophantic values & materialism of swingin'London 1960s!.

  • Hahaha. This is one of the funniest, most brilliant movies ever! A top-ten favorite.

  • Everything I know about God I learned watching BEDAZZLED.

  • Everything I know about God I learned from watching BEDAZZLED.

  • "Dudley sounds insanely high voiced!"

    So does Peter!

  • This scene sums up all religion! Why would any God create a world and expect "the people" to praise him??? WAKE UP FOOLS

  • Classic!

  • Haha. I was splitting my sides when he started doing the Charleston.

  • Now I have to get this movie out from Netflix and see it again immediately.
