In addition to last post. I also note few positives from his style. he tucks his chin properly so even if a counter right comes its missing the chin. his footwork when punching is spot on only missing a little bit snap with the jab but that comes and the uppercuts are good could be bit more bending the knees. he has a good base dont let people discourage you. we all have good days and bad days
THe kid has good speed and for those criticizing the fact he's not putting power through thus looking shit(not in my opinion) you should be aware that the kid needs to relax and flow with his work score with his punches. this is good work for an amateur boxer
Very good pad work! Alan is a great trainer. I used to train Thai Boxing with him about 10 years ago. Anyone seen his fight with some black guy for a title I think. Alan Ko'd him BAD! The guy was twichin and stuff out on the floor! Certainly would not want to spill his beer! come to think of it I would not want to upset this young lad on the pad here either! lol
saying that though his hooks are a bit shit. Bends his wrist too much and loosens it up, makes it look flashy but no power there and a good way to bugger your wrist up.
I dont usually throw my hooks like that. its because when i startd boxing at national level in amateurs they always pull me up for slapping so i try to get into a habbit of turning my wrist over but i feel uncomfortable throwing them like that and your right i loose so much power when i do.. thats why i usually just throw them naturally in sparring/fights. Infact im actually recovering from a broken thumb now as a result from throwing them in this way so i will avoid throwing like that now lol
well it seems to be the only weakness in your arsenal so if you adapt that then the future looks bright. Nice to see that you can take a bit of criticism. People who take in comments from trainers, listen, and adapt to them are often the ones who go far. I hope you progress to the level where one day i can watch. All the best.
@BoxerBertBABC then don't! i recommend you use the mexican hook! you will get the same effect and it wont slap. i know plenty amateurs who don't turn their wrists and still have power david haye is a rime example of this he uses his biceps check some of his vids for reference
@SuperColeman88 Well i'm a certified ABA senior coach. I've boxed for about 12 years and have been taking training for two. So i might be a 'nobody' but i am in a position to criticise one aspect of this kids repertoire, which by the way he took on board and agreed! And for you to say 'who are you to say anything (without question mark)' is idiotic. This is youtube where people upload videos for others to watch and comment. Think before you speak comes to mind with you!
nice pad work. i remember watchin his older brother ..kieran? (if it is his older bro) bak in 06..for the WBC superlightweight title against danthai singhmanutsak..wat an exciting event.
