Whether they learn or not depends on the type of dog. I had a lab/collie cross who did that once, learnt his lesson, and from then on angled his sticks to get in and out the gate.

i love dogs but my dog joba is so stupid he runs into walls ,knocks stuff over with his huge tail. and brings back all things like duck eggs, skulls ,fox spines a dead duck which he didnt kill because hes very gentle and about a year ago he brought back a dear head with the flesh,and occasionally a dead bird which he didnt kill. and hes just the cutest thing.
