my sister had a 6 1/2 hour stroke in Jan. from a bloodclot in her leg. Tonight she started playing the piano in the nursing home cafeteria with her good right hand...blew us away...I went searching for music I could purchase and found you playing...tremendous! I will share this with her. What an inspiration for my sister and our family! Thanks and keep tinkling those keys! Your great!
Art, I had an ArterioVenous Malformation rupture and destroy 40% of my right-brain. I, too, play piano with my right hand only. I would love it if you would contact me so we could talk about piano-playing techniques or specific songs that favor the right hand.
I'm 16 and I also had a Stroke at the age of 4 1/2 which left my whole right side unresponsive, I've been wanting to play the piano for a very long time, but never thought I could do it...so thank you for giving me the inspiration to fulfill my dream of playing the piano :D You're awesome!
I got one arm too, and love seeing things like this that make me realize SO WHAT if I lost an arm. It makes it 10x as cool when you can do things one handed anyways.
i had a stroke at birth so i cant really use my left hand but i love to play the piano!! people judge me, but at the end of the day... people who judge and just shallow and down right ignorant!! in my opinion!! brilliant video!! xx xx :-)
I had a stroke 10 years ago & lost the use of my left hand. I still play piano or organ with my right hand only. Many people don't even realize that I'm not using my left hand at all. Music is my life! God bless!
Wow this is amazing! Loving the jazz. I close my eyes and it sounds like 2 hands or more! It kinda made me think about how much us pianists (and most other people) take for granted our 2 hands. I tried to play some songs with 1 hand just to see and it's so hard! I managed the most part of 'le moulin' by Yann Tiersen with one hand. Maybe you could recommend it to your friend! How is doing btw?
I lost my four left fingers in a car accident and played the piano before that.I should still play cause you can. Thanks for posting. You have inspired me.
Well amazingly, I was practicing this one song and I came across a cord from the second song you are playing in this video, and from that cord and watching this video i was able to figure out the rest of the melody. Its really fun to play :)
My husband wrote a dictionary of human biology and evolution that took 15 years of his life, and stroke has now robbed him of his language skills. And this man, clearly born to play the piano, is unable to use his left hand. God works in wondrous ways? Ha!
1avantgardener, your clearly lieing. This man has great ability to great for you little mind to understand. You rock man! Keep up the work!! Hope you can use you left hand soon! =)
People, He's probably better than 95% of you people. Plus , He's only got one hand to play with! So don't be a moron and start talking crap about him!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a chamP! i can only dream of playing that well with 2 hands, let alone one. Good luck with ur playing and you have mine all the viewers utmost respect and support.
OMG! Im a stroke victim too. I used to play the piano and drums, now I couldn't coz I can only use one hand..this is very inspiring..I'll try to play piano again.even on one hand only..I wish I could do it on drums too..thank you!! I'm inspired!
hi there, first im sorry 'cause of your arm. im answering on your idea of playing drums with one arm! even if i hafe two arms i often play with just one of them on my kit. its good exercise and you can do al damn lot of groovy things! especialli breaks and fills. just start out practicing rudiments with bassdrum and one hand, youll get fast someday and then you can do gorgeous stuff! try it out!
You must be really sick of all this incredible puppy praise, and depressed knowing that it's boosted because of your unfortunate condition. I'm very close to being deaf yet play the piano, I hate undeserved praise, it makes me think why bother working? But to let you know that is some very good piano playing there, loved the differences in dynamics. Very impressive. =)
Good for you man..You're an inspiration not just for stroke victims, but for everyone...I can't play that with 2 hands!!!Great Job! God bless you and your family!
i agree, and no its not fun only haveing the use of one hand...but you can look on the bright side...when you get the use of ur other hand back youll be that much better at playing piano :)

Especially for a one handed victim. This is true brain power and an amazing recovery. God bless you, again, and I hope He heals you fully. MUCH LOVE.
i absolutely love it when something like a stroke or an accident hits a musician and they dont let it stop them! for example the drummer for def leppard losing his arm in a car crash! didnt stop him. great respect for that drummer and great respect for you mate truly inspirational
I really enjoyed that! I've played amateur piano for ten years now and it's nice to see a kindred spirit who enjoys the music as much as I do. Thank you and keep the music coming!
