I beat this game and got 100% for normal and the mode with half vitality. It was a little challenging when it came to the boss and some of the secret locations but otherwise it was quite easy.

At 1:26 I think if you jump in between the first and second blocks you can get UFO. but I'm not positive.

Yes it is. Basically updated with newer graphics, smoother controlls and the like. Still awesome though!
