Absolutely the most beautiful song I have ever heard in my life ever since the age 15. Those two people don't understand tripping, and never had the trip it requires to understood whats being said here...and THAT IS SAD! Actually, there is more than few people in this world who say they don't like this, and that because they've been taught that their opinion is paramount to their perception, which is not true: quite the opposite. Its between this song and "The Oenone," from Zabriskie Point.
Second favorite song - because I am delusional, and in love with Gwyneth Paltrow. Now if my Gwynnies sang this song with the Floyd, all would be tao. ;)
Here, I took away from me, a collection of sounds. and the great people that brought them together, and their creation, which led thousands to thank everyone everything.

One of my fave Floyd tracks too, love it! Roger did it 'live' at Earls Court in '84, but Eric Clapton on guitar made a mess of it, no feeling in it at all. This is good to listen to when not so sober & on ahem.. y'know what I'm talkin about..lol.. Since Roger 'has something to say' as Rick put it, he hasn't really written any long surreal tracks since, but then again.. Syd would've heavily influenced early stuff.
Une partie de ma vie. Inoubliable... ce morceau particulièrement, et tout l'album. J'ai des frissons en l'écoutant. Pink Floyd restera LE plus grand groupe pour moi. LOVE YOU SO !
The way I see it the only way a band could make music like this and a few other cuts like careful with that axe, saucerful and the like is for the band to have a conscious or subconscious connection to the source or God
@nickhirst999 a member of the 13th floor elevators, then he had mental illness, and now has had rehibilitation, now a long time solo artist. look up Roky Erickson on wikipedia...
this music is so amazingly timeless it feels like it could have been made a thousand years ago or mabye a thousand years into the future...or mabye it has always been :P
Will some spacemovie enthusiast with the will please mix this marvelous music with footage from Danny Boyle's "SUNSHINE"? it would be . . . intrastellar . . .
@767fife I.........don't think so. And you can't have my Sopwith Camel, Bonzo Dog Band, my Cheech and Chong "Big Bambu" with the rolling paper still in it, etc.....LOL!
@kiloxray1 -Re: Don't need one. Music like this chills the mind and soul enough by itself, IMO. :) - You got that right. This was my favorite album. My cousin gave it to me to listen to when I was 15 years old.

@nickhirst999 1971 - a bunch of us had migrated from Milwaukee to Berkeley and we had two apts on or near Channing Way, that magic year when lots of kids had dropped out of college and every freeway on-ramp in CA had its hitchhikers. The places where we lived would still seem like some Middle East hippie heaven today - this track and others drifting through the fun afternoons and soft nights - saw Pink Floyd at tiny Winterland and Led Zeppelin at the Berkeley High Auditorium. It was a AWESOME!!
@gem6621 yes gem - I never forget how lucky I am to have lived that whole thing - growing up with rock & roll. Joey Dee and the Starlighters played for almost two hours for about 50 kids at one of my eighth-grade's dance-parties, when "Peppermint Twist" was the hottest. I saw a Beatles concert in '64, when I was 16 - turned 19 just before the Summer of Love - hitch-hiked to Haight-Ashbury. ETC. ETC. ETC. I'm just as lucky now, but it's way more solitary - nothing like the "scene" of those years.
