The Religious Right and conservative economic philosophy are almost WHOLLY based on rallying people against these fears, as well as persecution politics galore and Projection 101.
This is why I will NEVER be a conservative again. I am almost CONVINCED that it is a mild form of mental disorder, at least if you're an activist.

History is truly repeating itself with the Tea Party. Tea Partiers RARELY acknowledge that it was Wall Street that crashed the economy (gov't was only part of the problem), largely, but how often do they go to the headquarters of the huge banks and protest THERE? It seems just about the ONLY populist position they truly take is anti-bailout.
From 1962-1969, we had HUGE economic growth, and not long after the Great Society was passed, poverty rates FELL DRAMATICALLY. Yes, they stabilized and went back to an average of 12% annually, but compared to what they once were... Then we had all the shit with OPEC and oil shocks and inflation in the '70s, very little of which was actually caused by gov't alone.

The most vulnerable issue of the Dems and far-left is immigration. And, some of those on the list are not only good on the issue but they realize how vital it is.
Yet, others tend to ignore immigration and instead concentrate on much less important, much less fundamental issues like spending. There are several issues more vital and fundamental than spending, yet money is about the only concern the teapartiers have.
I am secure in my beliefs thank you. I will stand with any other mother to help protect and defend children. This does not mean that I agree with you on all issues of energy, economy, education, environment, etc.
I hope that women can bring some sense to the divisiveness that threatens to divide country, neighbors, and family.

As a liberal woman, I have no problem with conservative women celebrating themselves or their accomplishments. The GREAT thing about women is that they are not the same as men (grand as that gender is), and therefore solve problems differently. Traditionally, women have supported each other. People don't realize just how integral and essential that women throughout history have been to our nation because they are not taught in schools. There are almost as many founding Mother's that helped build this nation as Founding Fathers. There are almost as many founding Mother's that helped build this nation as Founding Fathers. I am not just writing about a woman that sewn a flag, I mean women that made the most difficult decisions based on principles for what was right. Before that the GOP had been running the House since 1994. The New Contract for America/Pledge to America that they are proposing does not suggest any new tax cuts. It extends the debt by $700B more than Obama's tax proposal, and is a general throwback to the completely impotent and pointless Republican Congress of yesteryear.

@ihateneveen ... and keep in mind that 1994 characterized another great shift in politics where New England Republicans turned into Democrats, and Southern Democrats turned to Republicans, echoing the Nixon Revolution. To say that Dixiecrats/Reagan Democrats are the same as the current Democratic Congress is a logical fallacy. The South is now completely controlled by formerly Democratic politicians. 100 years ago New England Congressional districts were almost 100% Republican.
