  • Train=bus

    Truck= bug on the windshield

  • i wish that...THE TRAIN DIDNT STOP!!!!!!!!!

thumbs up if you think the train shoud'nt stop

  • I hope the train is okay

  • how much money was wasted on truck driving school for this guy?

  • What is the music?

  • Little does anyone know that Chuck Norris was pushing that train, and wanted to try the cookies in the truck.

  • This would make a damn good CSX freight commercial!

  • i would hate this video if it didn't have techno as the background music...lamesauce cliche

  • Wow! Would it be a disaster if the train clipped the front of the truck?

  • Think the truck driver had a little too much Cat-Nip!

  • looked like a solid right hook in a movie

  • don't drive your in front of a train or this will happen

  • dont drive your in front of a train or this will happen

  • Why do NS diesels always hit vehicles? Is it in a location of stupid people?

    Probably.

  • where were you superman

  • This video does not belong to you. Your just a lowlife bum that takes credit of what people make. I know that the video does not belong to you because i know the account of the person that owns the video. The video was shot in Salisbury, North Carolina. Train: NS 173. Going 44-49mph. 2 seconds before impact the engineer applied the emergency brake. The train wont stop fast because the air brakes have to set up, plus all the weight behind you pushing.

  • I know because I've been in a crossing accident before. Throwing a train into emergency stops the train faster, by dumping all the air out of system, reduces the pulling power of the locomotive, reduces the distance it takes to stop a train. So the outcome would be a whole lot different. If there was a gasoline truck on the track how would you stop your train?????

  • what the fuck did he expect to happen? this god knows how many tons train trying to stop on a dime so he could cross?

  • Thanks!.....

  • NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE "AVERAGE" AMERICAN!!!

  • What the name of this track?.... No not the railroad track..... The music track?....

  • @varminblast alexander perls - starfire

  • There could be more to this than what the camera recorded at that angle. I doubt that the truck driver is that stupid. what if a pedestrian felt like crossing the road in front of the truck right after the tractor crossed the tracks? What if a dumb bicyclist decided to veer from the curb and into the driving lane as they frequently do when traffic attempts to pass them. I think the driver would opt in for an obliterated trailer rather than a human embedded in the grill.

  • deze trein had toch voorang of niet?

  • @jack15295 ja zeker. But read the comment above yours..

  • Why do people insist on ruining good videos with loud distracting music?

  • I bet that driver was new, got on the tracks and saw the train coming, panicked, missed a gear and couldn't get it back in gear.

  • Physics!

  • nothing fucks with a freight train

  • Another dumb ass making the rest of us good drivers look bad. Common scence says look before you cross. especialy if ypour making a turn across tracks with no crossing arms.

  • either I'm seeing things it is either dot foods or dart foods logo on the trailer <>><>?

  • Train: 1 Truck: 0

  • im glad i had my headphones off, this gay azz music

  • To set the record straight, I was there. This happened in Salisbury, NC. I was working on a local train nereby. Train hit the truck at 44mph. The engineer put the train in emergency just 2 secs before impact. NS #173 that day - almost 10,000 tons, just over 100 cars. This section of rail is a level grade. That's really how long it took for the train to stop. Reports stated the driver stalled his truck trying to cross too fast. Video's sound is incorrect. NS #173 never stopped blowing the horn.

  • @tjkimmons

I bet you got all that info from the news and you lied about being there because you would need to be standing very close by.

  • Comment removed

  • Play with a train, you lose! Doesn't matter how big of a rig you are! That truck driver showed the train a thing, or two. LOL.

  • Comment removed

  • nice music

  • truck got pwned

  • wow, that ruck fucked that train up good, look at it come to a stop right fater!

  • I was A Locomotive engineer for KCS. I was trained not to plug or throw my train into emergency until we hit something. Throwing a train in emengency before you hit something might cause you to derail the train and if that something clear and the derailment occurs will make that company liable for that derailment.

  • @trainboy4024 Why throw it in Emergency>? Just stop normal, the damage has been done and whether you run over the truck with 15 cars or 100, I doubt the outcome will be different..

  • Train wins

  • I love seeing people learning obvious things the hard way!

  • I love the way the trains put on their 'emergency brakes'

    WTF IS THE POINT!!!

  • The law requires it to, and you have to have a way to stop in an emergency, even if it does take a while.

  • Yes I know, I think you too my comment too literally

  • Lol, I tend to do that.

  • Uh...no. The law does not require you to put on "emergency brakes".

  • Where are you gettign this information, do you work for a railroad? I have 5 friends that are engineers, and they all tell me that if you hit something you have to use emergency braking to bring the train to a stop.

  • Either all 5 engineers are not really friends and they are lying to you, or you heard them wrong.

Emergency braking (big hole, dumping, etc) means you instantly apply all the brakes full force to the entire train (although my might release the loco brakes). By the time you hit someone, it's too late.

This type of braking is dangerous to some extent. Instead you are trained to bring the train to a controlled stop with a heavy brake application.

    I'm a term. supt. on BNSF/UP

  • Im a loco engineer with BNSF and we were trained to plug it (apply emergency brakes) if it looks like we are gonna colide with something and if the engineer didnt go into emergency in this video before he hit the semi, then i bet he got smacked on the hands for it.

  • I manage loco engineers on BNSF. Are you telling me that in your training if you had a choice to a: apply brakes with a heavy reduction in a controlled manner or b: big hole......that you would automatically big hole?

Where do you work? I need to have a chat with your TM

  • Not sure why Chaqrlie has three thumbs down on this. The law absolutely doesn't require you to "big hole" your train. LOL.

    Jesus people.

  • The law requires you to stop, but it does not require you to put on "emergency" brakes.

  • As "politically incorrect" as this may sound, it takes a real moron to get hit by a train! Why doesn't anybody take personal responsibility anymore!

  • Millions and millions of people take personal responsibility each day throughout the world.

WHat you are looking at are exceptions to the rule. And given grade crossing accidents are down (at least in the US, Mexico and Canada) then more people are taking responsibility.

But, I do agree with one thing you wrote. Politicall correct or not. Some of these accidents are caused by very "moronic" decisions

  • Hello, the train consist of many connected wagons (not ONE structure) with a weight of approx 50 tons. If a train with 200 wagons (10.000 tons) would hit the MLP, the result would be that they pile up in a stack, simply because a train isn't a single steel structure as the MLP.

    It is simple physics 101

  • more like chinise

  • Just to you.

  • the train power is awesome, poor truck

  • If the truck would be replaced with NASA's "Mobile Launcher Platform", that train would be smashed into atoms.

The MLP is a 4300 tonnes? massive mobile structure. See at Wiki and YouTube

  • So what is your point about THIS video?

  • 4300 tons isnt that much.

  • your mom weighs more

  • @chap8938 WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT POINTLESS COMMENT FOR?!??!?

  • @chap8938 wtf is a MOM

  • erm, no. the train is heavier and a lot more dense so MLP would more likely be smashed than the train.

  • WTF?! Why did the train just knock the trailer aside instead of tearing right through it?!

  • The trailer was most likely empty.

  • ahhahaahahah 1 normal vagon is 44 tons what about heavy train :D 4-5t truck vs 500-600t Train :D rofl :D hahahah

  • That was bad ass but very stupid on the trucker's behalf. And why does this song make me want to break out some glow stix?!

  • This wreck happened in Salisbury NC,train 173 had just left NS Spencer Yard about 10 miles to the north. The train crew did everything by the book. The driver of the truck put himself in into this position.Trains have the right away everytime. The reason no horn was heard was the crew was in the floor of the lead unit, which if I was in their shoes, which for information I HAVE BEEN,thats where I would have been also.

  • you guys are both retarded, trains are 10,000 tons and one of you is partially right, it takes a train approximately 1.5 miles to stop

  • Actually trains are any where up to 20,000 tons plus and every train takes a different amount of distance to stop.

  • dude you guys are dumb ass's they do aply the brakes but a 2-6 ton frieght train isnt gonna stop that fast since it has so much mass! Its called inertia! Didnt you ever go to school!

  • hhaa yeah but more like 240 ton train ...

  • and you are a dumb ass. 2-6 ton train? LOL.

One empty railcar alone weighs over 30 tons.

Before you call people "dumb ass's", maybe you should get your own facts straight.

  • some crossings have a traffic light right after the crossing which is stupid because when traffic line up on red it can go over the track. also the closing gate and red light should be positioned far away from the track about 300 yards and if the rail crossing is near a road there should be a traffic light to keep cars on the road while the train is crossing. i believe that will be safer and much more cost effective.

  • Doubtful, setting back a lighted gate that far is only going to get cars trapped in between who try to obey the signal, and in the case of dummies you only give them more holes and gaps to drive around it.

the only things there is an obligation to pursue improvements on is heavy traffic gates where good drivers get inadvertantly trapped while trying to negotiate red lights and such and get between other cars that can't move. there should not be costly alterations to keep idiots from suicide.

  • wouldnt it be safer if they built the track over an overpass or underpass and make one main crossing point every 10 miles or so. from what i see the trains only slow down and stop after an accident and not before. the ones who built the crossing point they should have known better.

  • It would be safer. But the rate of accidents at most crossings where accidents occur do not compensate for the absolute CAPITAL COST of building over/underpasses.

You're looking at 10 Million per highway bridge overpass.

  • Once the engineer see's there is an obstruction on the grade crossing, he then "dumps" the air on the main brake, which locks down the entire braking system on the train. He can't predict when dumbo's like this idiot are gonna do something stupid. And on another point, the rail crossing is granted to the state for the highway or road. The railroad is not obligated to grant the state right of way or easement....the railroad is privately owned.

  • Use to hate those NFS engines.

To damn Hot in the summer time.

  • Check out the mid right hand side of the video as the train gets to the crossing, guy ina red shirt is walking up, notices whats goig on and turns and runs like hell.

  • i think it would be much safer if the rail company would build two tracks at the intersection so the train can go on the one that is free or simply build an overpass for the trains. i just think that the way it is now there will be more accidents and less safe

  • all train conductors can see from a far distance if the track is being crossed so they can slow down. i know trains wont be able to stop on time but slowing down will give a chance for the truck or car to may be get out of the way. all i see is the train coming at full speed and only after having an accident start to slow down. weird!!!!.

  • I just don't think anyone should cross the rails when the lights are red...

also, train conductors might have had multiple people crossing at the very last moment, perhaps they think that the car will be gone in time?

    my opinion...

  • Look my friend, I hear NIMBY comments like yours all the time!!! Even if you DO see a idiot that has ignore the red flashing lights and is on the tracks, there are times and places you just simply CANNOT just throw it into emergency! Not unless you want to pile up your train and mayby kill alot more than some idiot that can't follow the rules of the road! Tell you what, go to a shortline and sign a waiver to let you in a cab for a ride, and see for yourself just how easy it is to stop a train!

  • i bet those train conductors get mad as heck when that happens

  • i cant believe that big ass train crashed it

  • because trains take longer to stop. it is not like stopping a car. hope that makes sense.

  • u do no how heavy that train would be evan if the driver hit the emergency brake it would take sum time 2 slow down

  • because they have the right of way!

  • Did hi die?

  • Is it just me or did it look like the gates were not down before the leader was in the xing? I hear bells (can't see lights) but the gates were not full down when the locomotive was there. The far gate arm was dragging along the top of the trailer too. There was also no whistle for the xing unless this was a quiet zone xing (not likely). Many questions come up...

  • Since there are gates on all approaches AND exits, this was VERY likely a quiet zone crossing. If you look closely, you can tell the entrance gate on the far right side closest to the camera was fully down, but the exit gate on this side of the track and the entrance gate on the other side were caught on the truck. This shows the driver was in the wrong lane while crossing ...which 99% implies that s/he was trying to drive around the right gate and beat the train. Exit gates go down slower.

  • Even a 4-Gate Quad Crossing couldn't stop this from happening. Sad!

  • it would be super bad if that was full of nuceler missles....

  • um duh???

  • think we should thank the truck diver and his stupididty because we would not have this video to entertain us :)

  • LOL

  • dumbass! i love dumbasses like the truck driver

  • Theres a guy in red at the beginning getting close to the train and running away

  • Yea, I'm old enough to remember (though not that well) locomotives with cowcatchers!

  • how do people know when somethings gonna crash into another ??/

  • Its weird,, isnt it surprising that u wer recording as the train crashes normal i dont record stuff randomly unless i knew a train was going to crash

  • I imaagine that had the tandem got wedged under the front of the locomotive, it probably would have derailed and created a much worse mess. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

  • I figure it's one chance in a million anything would get wedged underneath the locomotive. There's not enough space. Nonetheless, it really is a good argument for bringing back the cowcatcher :-)

  • the pilots on the engines will fold back under it. 7/8 steel plate when you hit something that weighs 80K will bend rather easy.. then your screwed and goin in the ditch. got one of those T-Shirts 14 years ago after hitting a log truck. 6 engines and 29 cars in the ditch. dont care to do that again!!

  • Absolutely poor figuring on your part. It happens far more frequently that 'one chance in a million'. When you impact with a large vehicle you do not know if a large piece of steel may wedge between the wheels and rails and give just enough momentary lift so that the wheelsets rise above the rail in a curve.

    Trust me. It happens.

  • Heh, no need to get uppity. I've never pitted my car against a train and I don't plan on doing so in the future, so don't worry, I'm not some idiot bargaining with my future. Thanks for the info, too!

  • Uppity? Not at all. As a railroad professional I was providing a bit of information. It is not a foregone conclusion or one in a million chance that in a railroad crossing accident the locomotive will not derail.

Not implying you are an idiot at all. Just passing on a bit of info.

Trust me. It's scary when you're approaching an occupied crossing and you know that not only is it possible you may be about to witness something tragic, but that your life is in danger too.

  • dang

  • Train knocked the trailer body right off the tandem, then took the tandem along, looks like.

  • Even though I like trains, i see them are monstrously strong than any other vehicle.

  • IT TOSS THAT TRUCK LIKE A TOY!

  • POOR TRUCK DRIVER

  • WOW

  • That crash happened in Salisbury NC.The train 173 had just left the Linwood NC Spencer Yard about 10 miles to the north.

  • GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY IN HEAVEN!!!!! What a Crash

  • is it just me, or were the gates coming down as the train was already going by??

  • One of the gates was stuck on the trailer and after the train knocks it out of the way it finished coming down.

  • Don't mess with a NFS Train, I was bitten by one, that's why they call me GraceTrain.

  • Failed to Truck shame!

Then, take to look, listen and STOP!

  • truck 0 train 1 hey did the semi driver liv

  • it didnt hit the cab so yeah

  • man what a blast impact!!!!! awsome i drive a semi now ...gonna park it n go run one of them

  • When somebody used to risking their lives at the crossings get behind the wheels of a big rig hauling a trailer....

  • good fight...

  • putazo!

  • PWNED!!!!!

  • just 4 your enjoyment pause it at 0:03

  • Don't worry 'bout those crossing signals.

    They're just there for scenery...

  • Where was the train horn? They should have been laying on it.

  • Most likely, as with the Amtrak engineer in the "Train crashes into semi truck" video on the right, the operating crew layed into the horn on approach to the crossing, before the videographer got their camera out, then dumped the air and took cover under the stand once it was obvious a collision was imminent.

  • some citys have new noise laws that prevent trains from sounding the horn.. thats why you see dule crossing gates...

  • I call bullshit on that. The horn at the gate is a federal regulation so the city can't do anything like that. Well when my city tried to do that not too to long ago they were told no. And the double gates are all over the place now so people don't go through regardless.

  • Even if that crossing is a no horn crossing, that engineer is required to be on that horn in a case like this where there is going to be an incident.

  • You are completely wrong. There are hundreds of "no blow" crossings around the country (and the world) where trains are exempted from blowing the horn. To meet such exemption the communities involved have to pay a great deal of money to upgrade and double gate the crossings. It is not cheap.

In actual practice the crossings are much safer than you might think.

As as GEEs44DC said, the engineer needs to be prepared to blow the horn in the event he/she sees a dangerous situation.

  • You are 110% correct, but "normal" or no blow crossing By the time I was that close I'm already on the floor. That's the one advantage to the desktop "knee knocker" controls you can reach the horn button from the floor. I'm short and can't reach the lever from floor of a AAR stand.

  • You are wrong calling bullshit on that. No blow crossings are used all over North America. Communities apply for such exemptions on a case by case basis and some are approved and some are not. If they are approved the signals and gates must meet certain requirements. It is not an inexpensive proposition to convert a crossing to "no blow". But it is far from being uncommon.

  • charlie it aint no bullshit that i would wager the reason the horn aint blowing is the crew is in the floor...lol!!! the bell was going, it turns on by blowing the horn on those engines. but you are right there are no horn blowing laws all aver the place. they are all over the burbs around chicago..

  • My comment was about no blow crossings in general. They are used all over North America and the safety record is high. And with CN taking over the "J" expect more of them. I do agree however that this crew did what you said you have done and what I have done. Once you know making impact is inevitable human instinct takes over and you just start ducking and praying your locomotive is going to stay on the tracks and fuel from the struck vehicle isn't going to splach up on your unit and ignite

  • To CNKillerClown, the bell at the crossing is part of the signals. Those turn on by detection mechanisms, not because of the horn. Since this was a 4 quadrant gate setup... entrance and exit gates on both sides... it's HIGHLY LIKELY this was a "no blow" x-ing. That's where 4 quadrant gate setups are used most often.

  • i was talking about the BELL ON THE ENGINE. look at your post on this video one says it was a no blow crossing next says it is. i am an engineer (look at my video's) i got 15 years under my belt railroading. the reason the horn isnt blowing on the engine is because those cats are doing what i would be doing, sitting in the floor in case the shit hits the fan and they go in the ditch. the bell is ringing because they at some point WERE blowing the horn...

  • i would also suspect as fast as it stopped he had already busted out the brakes way before he got to the crossing. they were most likely in the floor shitting their pants hopin it didnt turn over when they hit it. i have hit a few semi trucks thats what we were doing sittin in the floor..

  • Fucking dumb ass driver. What the hell is wrong with people?

The locomotive engineers should be able to sue these kind of idiots.

  • just a lil fyi....its not the drivers fault ....its big companys fault for letting just ANY retard believe they can drive a truck.....i should know i deal with them everyday and u can only imagine what i here n see out here....so they should sue the company for hiring retards would make trucking the way it use to b

  • Wow, what force! That truck flew like a Mattel toy. Looks like the trucker likely survived since the truck's cab wasn't directly hit. I just feel bad for the Engineer and other locomotive crew members. The stress that these railroaders have to put up is incredible.

  • DANG!

  • that might as well been a hot wheels semi on a ho scale layout! DAMN!

stupid ass driver. please note that there's not two, but FOUR crossing gates! speaking of it looks like the trailer got wrapped arround the one on the other side.

  • see no airbags just buy a train with roadgoing wheels

  • LOL that would be awesome! What IS traffic if you have a locomotive car? LOL

  • Stupid Bastard Truck Driver why was he on the track in the first place??? Train will always beat a truck.

  • Hey Doc, My constipation problem is gone!!!

  • did you record this?

  • No I didnt shoot this video but I live just a few houses down from a very busy crossing. See trains traveling at all kind of speeds

  • People don't realize just how fast that train is really moving. Appears slow when in fact its moving at 50mph.

  • You dont need a bridges. Its called common snese....the train is bigger and you wait......or else you end up like this guy! Thats what there are crossing lights and engine horns for. Duh

  • Daaaaaaaaaang, man! That truck's DEAD!

  • Nonsense.....a little T.L.C...a lick of paint....lol

  • Trains are beautiful! Waht happened to the driver??

  • He's probably still on the can. lol
