I've passed by Cooper Square 100's of times... I wish I was around that day. It's not 4th Street, however. It's a little bit north of 4th Street at the intersection where 8th Street turns into St. Mark's Place and where 4th Avenue turns into the Bowery. Keep on rockin', Michelle.

Um, that's not "Positively 4th Street". It's "Streets of London" by Ralph McTell. Pretty basic mistake.
The reason, bcmcsmith, that the sound is so awful is that the recordist was too scared to get reasonably close to the event. The operative words are "hiding" and "voyeurism".

"Positively 4th street" refers to the location where the filming took place, not the song, numbskull!

Wow really jammin reminds me of Washington Square Park sessions that I witnessed & participated in Back in the early 90's not specificially Michelle Shocked but same vibe!Astor place is a noisy intersection hence sound,managed to avoid subway screeches usually noticable in this area, great upload!
