air india is not a bad flight and they are just good as pia and every other airline. however that was a hard landing and why not use fraps or active camera instead it makes it look much better !
umm i used fraps and loaded some clips... put it onto window movie maker fixed it up and stuff saved it into the windows movei maker file (*.MSWMM) and then when i went to youtube to upload that file i had saved it gave me a msg saying "unsupportive codec".. can you or any1 who noes about this problem plzzz helpp mee cuz i relly tried a lot to make this thing work but i cantt... plzz helpp mee thannkss!!
You want to touch down at about 100 - 150 fpm. In adition, I would suggest that you retard the throttles at about 50 - 25 feet above the runway, that way the aircraft doesn't sink - don't forget that the 747 has a ground effect (which is a cushion of air under the aircraft when it is low to the ground) as a result of the flap design - thus flaring at about 50 - 25 feet above the runway will almost always give you a smooth landing.
okay. The flight sim videos are lame. Ground effect is not a cushion of air. It feels like a cushion of air, if you have ever flown a real airplane. It occurs at about half the wingspan of an aircraft above the ground. At this point, the ground does not allow wingtip vortices to form. These vortices produce induced drag and since they are no longer present induced drag is lessened. Less drag means you need less thrust, and less of an angle of attack to provide the required lift.
Thanks for making a more detailed explanation of ground effect; and yes, I have flown real airplanes before so I was just going on how it feels from the cockpit. 747 comes in with about 3 - 8 degrees of pitch up on touchdown, which is really nice.
When coming in on the flare, keep in mind that the 747's cockpit is far higher than most aircraft, thus begin your flare a little bit before you pass the threashold of the airport.
That was quite the hard langing! In real life, that would have ended up in a major incident! But either way, great effort! Just some tips: By looking at your flap settings and your landing speed, it seems to me that your aircraft was too heavy for landing. One suggestion would be to get the aircraft down to about 10% of its fuel capacity, and with full flaps, depending on the altitude of the airfield, come in at about 155 - 165 knots for landing.
quality is "quite" bad. I suggest u stick to the quo and standard of fs04 around youtube by expanding it with add on paywares or something of that kind. It'll be much better to view and also as i have just mentioned to have that level of standard around. Justa suggestion.

In real life u cud have broken the Landing Gear. I still cant do gud landing in FS but somtimes i m pretty gud.

hmmm... maybe it was not ground effect but that was actually the effect of the burnging ruber from the tires during touchdown
