I feel like "The Beast" In 2.0 was completely useless. Especially considering the fact it got its ass handed to it. Don't get me wrong though, it was fucking badass during transformation and flipping through the air at the angel, but it didn't get the airtime I was hoping + its biggest feat was biting the AT field. Biting. BITING. OT:  I lyke da song.

@ALFTOR3 Also, what really made it all the more epic for me was how in the series, he's a pile of justified Wangst that is still a badass, given his backgrounds, but in the films, he's SO badass despite those backgrounds still withstanding, to the point that when it all culminates to the epic line "Give Ayanami back!" followed by the instant reactivation of EVA-01 pretty much put him on par with Simon in terms of badass.

I like the alternate story line I do, but the music used in the last two fights in 2.22 that Japanese shit killed the mood. I mean EVA 1 beating the shit out of EVA 3 and Zureal and instead of the Beast we got this near peppy Japanese lyric music. Killed it totally I understand thats its from Japan but you dont put that kind of music in place for a tense atmosphere.

@Mack488 It's kinda like in horror movies where you hear little girls singing. It gives you that "WTF" contrast effect. Not to mention the first song is talking about "being friends forever" and "until we meet again". If you consider the point this song comes on at, where as far as Shinji is aware, one of his friends just died, then it draws a deeper reaction from the audience. The mixed feelings it's supposed to give you is exactly the effect they were going for, I think.
