  • this song is very nice

  • hotindya.blogspot.com....................это действительно горячей

  • Too bad they only sing 2 strofes of it.

  • @Vorobye They sang 3 strophes out of 5. Katyusha contains 4 strofes and the 5th is same like 1st. The most common is version with 5 strophes. In every strophe is 3rd and 4th line singed twice.

  • greetings from greece

  • dobrj den! can anyone tell me where i can find/download this music? spasiba

  • Is that George Lucas on bass??!

  • @BassamMinFalasteen My god, yes. Yes, it is!

  • the guy in the back has a badass instrument!!

  • @szymon308 It's a contrabass balalaika and, as you noticed, seriously badass!

  • Is it someone who can translate the song to english? :)

  • @w3nc43

    Apples and pears were blossomin

    Mist on the river floating

On the bank Katyusha stepped out

    On the high steep bank.

    Stepped out, started a song

    About one grey steppe eagle

    About her loved one

    Whose letters she cherished.

  • @truckdriver1974 .......really like this translation...seems better than the official one...my russian is weak

  • @w3nc43 Oh song, maiden's song Fly towards the clear sun And to the warrior on a far away border Bring Katysha's greeting. May he remember this simple maiden And hear her signing May he save our Motherland Like Katyusha will save her love. (Not my translation, just found it somewhere on the net. Katyusha is a girl name).
  • amo a Rusia y un un dia regresare

  • What a beautiful song... I heard this Russian for the first time when I was a boy and I loved it since then. Peace from Peru!

  • this song goes good with any Russian vs. German scene on the eastern front , i mean common doesn't it ???

  • Thats one bad ass looking geetar

  • Whoa never seen somebody play a balalaika.

  • wunderschön, danke für den russischen Text, so konnte ich gleich mit singen

  • my grandmother use to sing this to me when i was small

  • Thats a rather large instrument the guy in the back is playing.

    ~Mad Vulcan

  • @MadVulcan1 It's an over-sized balalaika; not sure but I think they're rather rare.

  • @josiebananos looks like a balalaika-shaped bass guitar...:)

  • i learned this song in 2nd grade in armenia, brings back good memories.

  • jack rudolph

  • Icelandic lyrics:

Vertu til, er vorið kallar á þig,

vertu til að leggja hönd á plóg.

Komdu út því að sólskinið vill sjá þig

sveifla haka og rækta nýjan skóg.

    Rússneskt þjóðlag. Ljóð: Tryggvi Þorsteinsson

  • Ukrainian music has them beat six ways to Sunday!

  • Its a great and inspiring song....I dont know what else too say.

  • For thos who think they know, but don't. And for those who know but think they don't know. The song is an old Russian song. The song has nothing to do with an arms race or with communism. Just the same as an american is not per definition always a cowboy or a German an adept of the nsdap.

The song is a very nice Russian song which brings all Russians together, without regard for their political views.

  • @GarinvanLohengrin : To the furthest I know, Katyusha was written in the WWII period for the Red Army. So... isn't it communist music ? I have always thought that the communists suck at everything but music.

  • ...theyre good at weapons just look at the T-34..the SKS, the Ak-47 (modeled from Germany) ...and Vodka...great looking women ..and all other stuff too

  • @Mosin54r : Yeah, they're good at weapon too, but good at such thing means they're bad. Vodka is a part of East Europe culture and has nothing to do with communist regimes. About women, I have always thought that most Russian people look uglier than American or Asian... sorry if I offended anyone :3

  • @Ralph95Mind this one is an old russian folk song... the communists used it later at the time of WWII but they were not the writers of the song

  • @theripper1984 crap... i confused with another song... yeah you are right this one is from the soviet russia... anyways, beautifull song

  • @Ralph95Mind Its not communistic music - believe me - i know :) yes - u right it WW II. . but this song about women wich wait her man - boyfriend or husband... and it people song.. not from any singer and composer.. so - i think u cant say its communistic - may be about songs which was commissioned by the Government.not falk...

  • @gelikon2 Well, you are partly right. This song was played when the Russian soldiers for sent off to fight Nazi Germany, motivating them and named the multiple rocket launcher after it.

  • @mrbestoflols exactly ! :) u explain it more full than me :)

  • @Ralph95Mind and buy the way - russians girls - really beauty. not all girls- but to 98 % :)

and russians dont drink vodka 24 h/ at day - 7 days at week etc...

its stereotype as ukrainian eat only tallow, all french men very romantic. and etc...:)

  • @gelikon2

actually, I think that formulation "98 procent of russian girls are nice" its stereotype. Same that : "German girls are ugly."

I personally like polish, czech and slovakian girls. Because I live among them. It is normal that black boys normally choose black girls, and white boys white girls.

There is one thing i do not like on russian girls, their eyes. But, as we all know, millions of men love them.

  • @DareiosXerxes

    Exactly ;) (about millions... )

  • @DareiosXerxes Pardon me for having to say this but just cannot help myself: you sound like an ignorant grrrrrrrunt, recently emerged from under a rock.

  • Bellissima canzone. Peccato in Italia abbiano cambiato le parole rovinandola completamente.

  • ja ljublju etot musik :)

    otšen interesnaja ^^

  • That Balalaika contrabass is friggin huge!

btw, this music is awesome, I love russian music

  • i love communist music. great musicians, great compostition

  • Beutiful song!

  • A song wich remindes me about childhood in a comunist country .Any way for me is still beautyfull.

  • Well-founded rumour has it a much larger M1987 Balaaika was in prototype stage, so large that it would have had to be played by a two-man crew.

Smaller European powers tried to compete, but fell behind: the Greek Close Combat Bouzouki was no real match, and the French Air Asault Accordion was too complex a design for threatre use.

  • Typical of the arms race that took place between the USSR and the USA in the dying days of Communism, both superpowers vied to build larger and larger stringed instruments so as to communicate their respecttive untainted peasant musical traditions over a larger and larger area. The M1985 is said to have been the last word in offensive music - "just you try your Duelling Banjos against this, American capitalist pig!"

  • In "Jane's Fighting Musical Instruments", the mighty stringed weapon has been identified as the Red Army's Model 1985 Assault Balalaika, which was developed in retaliation against the United States' Army's M-78 Tenessee Hillbilly Redneck Assault Banjo.

  • looks more like a dorito to me

  • That has got to be the biggest balalaika in the world... Horosho, tovaritschnye!

  • ochen horosho!

  • Hey asshole are you here to listern the song or talk politics? Get the fuck out of here.

  • Wow very nice!

  • great song :)

  • in czechoslovakia we were forced to sing this fuckin communist russian song as small kids in the school.

  • I understand your dislike for growing up with a commuinist take over, but the song is not communist. Isn't it about a girl who misses her her soldier boyfriend who is away at war? The politics aren't in the song...but I guess the situation of you being forced to learn it must have been the worst thing...sullied the song.

  • maybe i am wrong, in which case forgive my ignorance..but didn't the Russians nickname their rocket launchers "katyushas"? otherwise known as "stalins organ"?

I like the song , the tune but I'd probably feel the same way if forced to sing it, but like being english and sick to death of "Jerusalem"

and to hesslercommawinston - a gun can take many forms

  • Katyusha is a girls name- kind of like Catherine in English

  • thx :)

  • @Dynwyrm Eh. Yeah, or Katie too.

  • good feroxing,so you've learned this beatiful song as kid.lucky you!

  • no i didn't, i learned to hate fuckin russians.

  • did they hold a gun to your head so you'd sing?

  • If you wanted to live under Nazi rule it's ok, you can admit it if you like.

In the same way of thinking many kids in Western countries are forced to sing other songs about WW2.

  • well german nazi regime and soviet stalin regimes both coopoerated and together started the ww2. do not even try to say soviets were some kind of peacemakers and democracy bringers. They did cooperate with hitler, they attacked innocent countries like finland or poland. USA, GB, Canada those were the countries that fought for democracy and freedom in europe. soviet union was sick copuntry that killed millions of ots own people. more than was killed by germans in ww2.

  • Yes yes, Nazi Germany killed 5 people(many claim they killed 1 !) and the Soviet Union killed 100.000.000.000... Maybe we are not humans but aliens and humans got destroyed by the Soviets... you are pathetic I must say.

I prefer listening to the song

  • pathetic are historical facts. russians killed more of its own people before and after the ww2 than germans did in the war. pathetic is that russians cooperated with hitler and attacked innnocent countries prior to and after the ww2.

  • @feroxing Read your history clearly please. The Soviets only cooperated because of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and that hardly lasted, being ended in the summer of 1941. The Soviets never attacked any other country after WWII unless prompted to.

  • Thanks so much for writing the russian text down! Now I can finally (after about 30 years....) try to sing it without too much fear of ruining the words! But now: what does it all mean???

  • Apple and pear trees were blooming Mist creeping on the river Katyusha set out on the banks On the steep and lofty bank Katyusha set out on the banks On the steep and lofty bank She was walking singing a song About a grey steppe eagle About her true love Whose letters she was keeping Oh you song Little song of a maiden Head for the bright sun And reach for the soldier on the far-away border Along with greetings from Katyusha.
