  • Aw Caylyn! Happy for you, gal! You're lovingly building a dream. Big smiles from here, and all the best to you on your heartfelt project :)

  • Thanks, Liz!! :-) Next time you get around these parts, you'll have to come by and see it...:-)

  • Oh you know it, for sure (with cam at the ready!!!!)

  • Hmmmm, I know you've kinda been mentioning about planting a bigger garden, so I'm assuming you've been talking about planting veggies at The Village?

Looks like a great place with lots of potential. One great thing about the desert is if a place has a leaky roof it takes much longer to get water damage than in other places:)

Wow, it makes me tired just thinking about all the work you have ahead of you. So is your ultimate goal to fix it up and move in there permanently?

  • Yes, I want to grow all the food I need, veggies, spices, have a green house, etc., to be self sustaining there one day! And yes, the goal is to move there permanently! Probably in a couple of years. :-)

No worries for leaky roofs much as we don't get too much rain...lol But it is good to know that things will dry out quickly if we do get a bit of rain that breaks through the roof! :-)

It's a lot of work, but the final goal keeps me motivated! :-)

  • Wow! Caylyn, this is a wonderful place that seems to be oozing with potential!!! Can't wait to hear/see more about it.

  • Thanks, Debbie! It's keeping me BUSY these days...:-) HUGE project, but one day it will be my oasis! :-)

  • Wow...exciting :-)

  • Yes it is! :-) It's going to take a long time to get this project finished, but...I'm looking forward to taking the challenge...:-)

  • What a great project.I will look forward to the updates on this one. It looks quite remote. Do you have to drive far to shops.

  • Yes, it's in a rural area...that's another thing I love about it, Kathleen! It's soooo quiet and peaceful out there! :-) And not to far for shops...:-)

  • Does the new place have its own well?

  • No, not yet, Nota! One day...:-)

  • I'd love to see the progress as it goes on...

  • I'm hoping to keep taking video of the progress...LOL Thanks for watching, Andy! I will put something together as I go along...:-)

  • You may want to consider my bubble wrap curtain idea, to help keep the heat out.

Its going to be wonderful - half the fun is working on it- enjoy.

  • Now there's a great idea, Nota! :-) It's been a fun project to work on so far! It will be a long while before it's finished! It's nice to envision what life will be like there once it's done! :-)

  • Caylyn!! This place has amazing potential...and if anybody can turn it around you can! I can just imagine the videos you can make out there....oooh the peace and serenity. Wishing you the best of luck with your project and promise to keep us updated with videos!!!

    Heart Hugs~Nancy

  • I agree, Nancy...lots of potential! It is peaceful out there so once it's finished it will be my little oasis! :-) *hugs*

Best wishes for all the work you have to do yet ;)

  • omg i cant wait to see it!!! lots of work to be done!

  • Yes...a TON of work, Lays!! One day it will be my oasis!! :-) xoxoxo

  • Very interesting. Congrats!

  • Oops! I accidentally deleted my comment so I'll try this again!

Thanks, Randy! You know me, I have to always follow my heart...(even if my head takes a walk with "Syd"...ha!) Following another dream...I'll see where this road takes me...:-)

  • Caylyn that does look like a huge project but I can't wait to see what it looks like after a little TLC from you. Good luck and have fun with it. It really looks peaceful out there! -Jim

Can't wait to see the evolution. xox

  • I was so happy to see the plants and trees coming back to life, Lesley! I thought they were gonners! The 'birth of a village"...:-) This will be a SLOW evolution, but should be finished about the time you's are ready to become villager people!...LOL xx

  • Thanks, roomie!! It's very quiet and peaceful out there! Yes...a Panther Road trip to the "village"...lol xoxoxoxo

  • That is amazing. I can see the attraction you have to this land, it's potential and the hard work that lay ahead - but definitely worth it.

    Well done!!

  • Thanks, Danny! If I even get close to my vision of the place, it will be well worth all the time and effort! :-) Starting this project has reminded me that I am NOT 20 anymore...lots of things I just can't seem to do these days...LOL

  • I think you've got a project and a half there Cayls'! Your chance to create something beautiful though I'd say. Such a great location you live in! xoxox

  • Yes, it is a HUGE project, Garz!! But once it's done, it will be my little oasis! Wanna come and be one of the "village people"? LOL xoxoxo

  • That looks like a heck of a lot of potential there!

[and, yes, a lot of work too]

    :-)

  • I am working toward making it my oasis, Curt! I actually think I can do this! LOL Well, with a lot of time and patience that is...:-)

  • LOVE the opening above the shower!

whats your inside palate? any ideas yet?

  • The opeining above the shower is a skylight, Lea! It had leaked, so it's in the process of being fixed now! The whole bathroom, well BOTH the bathrooms are being torn out and replaced. I am doing the floors is a cherry wood...tile in the downstairs bath goes with the cherry wood as will the tile in the kitchen. The upstairs bath will be in tile but in a marble, gray/white/black tile. Carpet in the bedrooms. LOTS to do...removing walls, etc. :-)

  • wow thats beautiful property !!

  • Thanks, Bryan!! The desert does have it's own unique beauty! Lots of work ahead to create my oasis! Wanna be one of the village people??? hahahaha!

  • I love it Gigs!!!

When does Escrow close? (did it?)

    Miss you!!!

  • It's moving right along, don't you think?? When are you and Shy coming up for the christening?? I have the champagne on ice...:-) Call when you get a chance so we can plan the christening!! :-)

    Gigsy LOVES Tobie!! xoxoxo

  • Yay! Pink Floyd!!!

  • Yes...Pink Floyd!! They are a HUGE part of the sound track of my life, torpedofish! :-)

  • Well, if I lived with that view there, I would smoke a big fat one, wear a lightbulb suit, and crank up "Learning to Fly". Every day! lol

  • hahaha!! Now that you mention it...it is the PERFECT place for that!! LOL

  • It takes hands to build a house, but only hearts can build a home;-) AND with your generous heart and loving spirit this will be a majestic abode, mirrored by her mistress~~

Can't wait to watch your updates Caylyn, you will make magic there, just as you do wherever you go~~

    Hugs

    Marylou

    xoxox

  • You always say the sweetest things, Marylou!! Thank you for the vote of confidence! :-) It will be a work in progress for many years, but, it will be fun work! Wishing I was about 20 doing it though! My back is killing me...hahaha! xoxoxoxo

  • Hi JoJo! It's very quiet and peaceful there! I have grown to LOVE the peace, quiet! Just wait until I get out there and crank up the music...hahaha! Yes, this place will take a lot of TLC and HUMOR to get it the way I envision it. It will be a project for many moons to come! :-)

  • Wow loads of love care and attention i see. It does look like it will be a wonerland for you i hope it is. Thank you for the tour.

  • Thanks for dropping by, Kim! Yes, LOADS of love, care and attention needed there! It will be a project for a long time! :-)

  • It's amazing what a little attention can do to bring back new growth. :)

  • Yes! Nature is amazing!! I really thought the trees and plants were all dead when I first saw them! A little water goes a long way in the desert...:-) Thanks for watching popsuckits! :-)

  • OH WOW! If anyone can love it back to full health and happiness - it's you!!!

  • Thanks for the vote of confidence, Marie! :-) There was a lot of love there at one time! I feel it everywhere on that property which is why I now have it...it called me! :-) It's going to be a LONG time to get it finished, but I'm patient...Not really, so this will be testing my patience...hahaha!

  • That looks like an awesome project. Look forward to seeing more updates.

  • HUGE project and will be going on for a LONG time I'm sure, S&S! I will work on it as time (and money) allows...:-) I'm a bit in "sticker shock" at the cost of solar and wind power, geothermal heating and cooling systems, etc.! So, to complete the dream could be a LONG wait...:-)

  • Nice place. Busy, I understand. It will be perfect before you know it because you Love it!

  • This project has been keeping me very busy, Marie! It will be a project I'll be working on for many many moons to come...:-) The property had a lot of love there at one time! I can feel it! It called me there so, I guess I'm supposed to be there...:-)

  • Wow that's some project you have going on there Caylyn. It's a very beautiful place though. Good luck with it all. :)

  • It's going to take a LOT of TLC and I have a vision to complete the dream, so...it's a start...:-) Good to see you, Dorrie!!

  • Wow Caylyn, another wonderful video. I love your new place and you are going to have fun getting it up and running again and just the way you like it! Beautiful country out there.. The house looks great! Can't wait to see it transform and what all you do to it with you hard work and especially LOVE! :D

  • Thanks, Judy! This will be an ongoing project for many years to come! :-) The desert has a unique beauty. I have traded "green" for sunshine! I'm hoping I will be able to create a little oasis out there...:-) The house is in need of a TON of work! More cosmetic than anything, as it does have great "bones". Now to see if I can get it finished and one day retro fit it for solar and wind power, geothermal heating and cooling, etc. HUGE project! :-)

  • Great video and good luck with it the house!:)

  • "with it the house?" It is early!:)

  • Thanks, Anthony! It is going to be a project that will keep me busy for a LONG time...:-)

  • Wishing you a roaring success!

  • Thank you, Liz!! Lots or retro fitting to do! This is going to be a project for a LONG time! :-) How is your project going?? I can't wait to see it! :-)

  • Yeah, you'll be working hard but to such a great end! I'm still in planning stages - at IKEA you can download free software to design kitchens and baths. We are also looking for lots. I've seen the outside of other people's but would LOVE to see inside. If I do, I'll tape it.

  • I didn't know IKEA had that, Liz! I'll have to go and check it out! Lots are CHEAP here these days! Come to the "Village"...ha!

  • That's an amazing transformation underway. Now I get what all the village chatter was about. The place is looking beautiful. I particularly liked that south western style staircase without the banister.

  • You know us here in the "Wild Wild West", Robert! We don't need any stinkin' banisters! lol

The house WILL be getting a banister one day! It will be one of the last finishing "details"...:-) As you can tell, there is a LOT to do there! It will be a work in progress for a LONG time! I keep thinking of the videos I can make out there...hahaha!

  • No, leave it without a banister. It's awesome that way. Last summer I missed the turn to Lancaster and made it to Barstow before I knew I was lost. The scenery was so beautiful who cared about the miles. Love it out there.

  • She's going to make me live upstairs so that staircase is going. I want a beautiful, winding staircase with an ornate banister or I'm not climbing it.

  • Princess. : p

  • Well, I guess everyone needs a Joan Crawford moment. Alright, you can have the winding staircase.

  • LOL...Anything thing for you, my brother! :-) xoxoxoxo

  • That was quite the wrong turn, Robert! Did you go to Las Vegas then? You were so close while in Barstow! :-)

I'm actually thinking now that I might just close up the stairway there to have another wall in that room! Decisions, decisions...:-)

  • I've been fantasizing since I saw this video about turning this home into a commune type living situation. Perroquet can have one room. I'll take the other. The RandomWritings can have the porch swing. It would be great.

  • hahaha! What a fine group to gather up!! I think I want to be at your commune! Think of the videos we could make!! LOL Better yet, just come to here! We could make Westerns! Got a horse?? :-)

  • Absolutely, totally awesome! Wow so much potential to create,

it is like another art piece... all the best and I look forward to seeing what happens! Sending you positive energy and thoughts. :)

  • Thanks, Daniel!! Positive thoughts and energies are always appreciated! :-) This will be a work in progress for a LONG time...but it will be a fun work in progress! :-) I can't wait until it is finished and I'm moved over there! :-)

  • Me too, Billy!! I can't wait! It's going to be a project that will take a few years, but it's a start...:-)

  • Caylyn - I'm so happy for you & wish you the very best as you realize your dream!!!!

    Thanks for the update. ;)

    Hugs

  • I'm am thrilled, Ali!! It's going to be a few years for things to come together, but this is the beginning...:-) xoxoxo

  • Great - when are we moving in!? xx

  • Whenever you're ready!! xx

  • I better get him a blindfold and some strong sleeping pills for the flight! LOL

  • LOL...or a BIG BOAT!! LOL

  • Caylyn.... So AMAZING!!!! It's really Beautiful, and the house is so big........ Congratulations!!!! I can wait to see it in person!!!

Fantabulous music choice by the way!!! LOVES YOU!!!!!! (((HUGS)))

  • Thank you, Shy!! You are still coming for the christening of the place, aren't you?? I hope so!! :-) Miss you!! xoxoxoxo

  • (Pssst, Shy, guess what? It's a party house!)

  • That yard reminds me of those old Westerns. Tumbleweeds and all. Where is this? Arizona? Is this a new property for you, Caylyn? Looks like plenty of work ahead, but from what I can remember from your earlier videos you have quite the green thumb.

I hope that grapevine grows, be great to make your own preserves or even wine.

  • Hi Lisa! The property is in Southern California...:-) And yes...it's going to be a TON of work for this property, but it's mine and I'm loving it already! It called to me, so here I go down a new path...:-)

  • Gread vid. "the village" looks like it has great potential. But, I'm confused. Are you the owner of this property?

  • It's going to be a LOT of work, but I agree, Mary, it has great potential! No need to be confused...yes...I'm the owner...:-)

  • When I saw all your tweets about "the village", I thought it was some kind of new facebook app (silly me). Thanks for clearing that up. And, best of luck to you...

  • ROFL! See, that's what FB has done to our minds. LOL

  • OH! I Am One of Caylyn's Village People! hahaha!

I love this vid, it shows the place really well and the improvements made already! Once the water drips into the ground even deeper and the tap roots get stronger it will be so much greener!

    The Village ;~}

  • hahaha! Now you get to see WHERE you will be "the Cowboy" at, being one of the "Village People"...:-)

Yes! The plants and trees are coming back nicely! Still lots of cleaning up to do around there! Lots of land! :-) Yippie!! The Village has a beginning! :-)

  • I think a lot of people see the desert and don't realize we do grow stuff here, our natural resources are sun and wind, there is water but it has to be managed, and you can create a great oasis.
