  • hup two ahh

  • Wolfenstein on the Jaguar to me is just like new Maps for Doom.

  • My Jaguar and Wolfenstein came out the cupboard today and I had much fun! I think the 3DO is the best of the console ports, naturally you can't beat the original PC game but the Jag in my opinion offered the second best possible experience out of all the consoles. My only dislike was the ridiculous health you can rack up and the extra weapons the console versions offered made the bosses too easy.

  • lol at the Doom pistol

  • Jaguar port Episode 1 only has 3 levels?

  • @gaborsama well it has a total of 30 levels

snes/jagaur are the only ports that use the 30 console levels

    PC/360/PS3/GBA have 60 levels

MAC/3DO have 90 levels (30 levels from consoles and 60 levels from PC)

  • Man this takes me back...

  • just so that you don't mistake the Jaguar one with the game

i was talking about the Snes and PC one you know :)

  • wow seeing this game makes me want to play wolfenstein 3D i always played the DOOM game alot and find some hidden areas maybe i sound play this game too :)

i don't like the games we have today there way to easy and some are not that good looking if the game is all about the graphics or more the gameplay then they must have been doing things wrong they have to play games like this for them to get it right

  • The sounds and music are horrendous. The graphics are higher res, but that's basically the only thing this version does better.

  • Is it me or the iOS port is this but with the PC levels.

  • @boobidee ? wut

  • @killkenny5000 The iOS port has similar gameplay to this, instead of the PC version.

  • @boobidee this is played on a real atari jaguar

    not a emulator

  • no "Mein Leben!" from the SS soldier :(

  • Also to the SNES Wolf3D fanboys: Wolfenstein without nazi's screaming at you ain't Wolfenstein. That's just a generic first person shooter like all others.

  • Um, Wolf3D is about the gameplay that's behind the Nazi content. If you play a game based on its look alone, you won't be sticking with it for very long. The reason why Wolf3D is still popular this day isn't about the Nazi stuff, it's because the gameplay is fun.

Besides, the Jaguar version of Wolf3D ISN"T WOLFENSTEIN 3D. The game doesn't play like Wolf3D. Having treasure and extra lives count as health past 100% makes the game way too easy and makes most secret areas pointless.

  • @elbryan42 Yes and Wolfenstein 3D on the SNES is not Wolfenstein either just an FPS with good gameplay

  • @AizensPlan dude you dont even understand

its not about fucking graphics its all about gameplay

the jaguar uses tressure as health while the other ports its used as points and free men

snes is basic wolfenstein you run around shoot abunch of nazi's even when its censored and still have that wolfenstein feeling

the jaguar...not so much it didnt have all the sound effects and the weapons look like doom the others look like wolf3d

+ the jaguar stole the snes sound effects

  • @killkenny5000 If it was only about gameplay they might as well have called it "Shooter". It's also about atmosphere, and the SNES version ruins that with censorship and horrible graphics.

  • @AizensPlan thats because nintendo forced id software to censor the game in order to have younger ppl to play and get more money

and reason why the graphics are bad because the snes is 16-bit and not that much memory and everything

+ the snes came out before the jaguar port and the jaguar took the sound effects

look at duke nukem 64..,that one is censored and lack of music but they completely changed the weapons to make it look more realistic and modified levels

  • @elbryan42 I agree with you 100% with what you just said... But you need to have Nazis to make it Wolfenstein. You can't just censor it up. Wolfenstien isn't Wolfenstein without Nazis.

  • I like this version because it was the first version I ever played and I couldn't believe Hitler was in a videogame lol.

It's not censored like the crap SNES version

  • ACHTUNG!!!

  • Love this version

    HUP-TWO!!

  • Achtung!!!

  • SUP BLAKE >:D

  • He Has Doom Guys Gun :D

  • No we're playen som JAGGGG

  • Well, at least you can tell the german guards are actually saying achtung, not archhhtung like in the original.

  • The original Call of duty World at War.....

  • I know you've mentioned to other people the Jaguar's bad qualities, which I do agree with Rob. However, I do want to mention one good thing about the Jaguar's version: It has decent upgrades of the original Wolf3D soundtrack for DOS, which IMO is okay. However, the 3DO's soundtrack is much more epic than either DOS or Jaguar.

... that's about the only thing decent I can see good about it. I don't even find the graphics that exciting. Still, cool gameplay considering the game, Rob.

  • what do you use to capture theese videos?

  • I use a video capture card. I believe I used my Hauppage PVR150 for this video, but I use a Dazzle now.

  • @elbryan42 can capture cards are also capable for very old game systems for example (atari 2600)

  • Sure you could, as long as your capture card can do coaxial cable. If not you can put the Atari through a vcr and use the a/v cables from the vcr to the capture card (which is what I did for my Jaguar, since I only have an RF adapter).

  • Holy shit a beretta in WW2 times. what were they thinking

  • Yes there are dogs in this version, not stupid rats

  • Jaguar version ruled.

  • A Beretta 92 from Doom in the WWII years of Wolfenstein ?

    FAIL

  • That's what happens when they make a game in a weekend to prove that Doom was possible on the Jaguar... and release it as is. You get a crappy Wolf3D-Doom hybrid that's a half-assed game. Unfortunately, the Jaguar port of Wolf3D is very overrated, and everyone just assumes it's the best one, when in fact it's one of the worst.

  • @elbryan42

    Totally agree.

    Greetings from Sicily

  • @elbryan42 WOLF 3D WAS MADE IN 1992 AND DOOM WAS MADE IN 1993 SO SHUT THE FUCK U IDIOT THIS GAME IS ONE OF THE BEST U BASTERD

  • I love Doom. And Wolfenstein 3D IS awesome. The Jaguar port, however, is not. The original PC, Mac and 3DO versions are all much better. This acts like Doom with Wolfenstein 3D graphics. This is the port furthest from the original game.

    Calm the hell down.

  • @elbryan42 HEHEHE O SORRY : 0

  • @elbryan42 doom and wolfenstein on the jaguar are the best ports along side the 3do version of wolfenstein 3d and the playstation version of doom.

night and day above the snes version and id say better than the pc version cause its more based on the doom engine as the mac version was.

every doom version is slow stuttering bad resolution, played in a cut down frame, except the ps and jaguar.

and since it was first consule port i dont get under what deluded fantasy you can say they're bad versions

  • The Jaguar port of Wolf3D isn't Woflenstein 3D. That's why it sucks. It's a Doom-Wolf3D hybrid. Picking up treasure and extra lives and having them act like health bonuses and soul spheres makes the game too damn easy and is downright lazy. The turning is recklessly fast when you hold down run, forcing you to remind yourself to only hold down run when moving forward or backward. Also, strafe left and right don't have their own buttons, making circle strafing impossible.

  • Yes, the graphics are nice, and the music is decent, but the rest of the Jaguar port of Wolf3D is piss-poor. Not to mention, why would you play the Jaguar port of Wolf3D with only 30 levels when you can play the 3DO version with 90 levels?

  • Now, Doom for the Jaguar. It's not terrible, but it's the barebones model that almost every console port after it is based off of. No invisibility, no crushing ceilings, and cut up levels. No cyberdemon, no spectre, or no spider mastermind. On top of that there's no music in the levels, and no circle strafing.

It's not terrible, but there's nothing special whatsoever about the port. Just because it was the first port of the game, and it's one of the few good Jaguar games doesn't make it great.

  • The SNES version of Wolf3D at least had circle strafing. It was more playable. Censored, lower framerate and worse graphics, sure, but it played better.

And the SNES port of Doom was for the most part completely unchanged from the original in terms of content. No cut up levels and no cut enemies. The graphics and controls could have been better though.

The 32X and 3DO ports of Doom weren't very good.

But the Jaguar wasn't perfect either. Doom and Wolf3D for the Jaguar were lazy-ass ports.

  • @elbryan42 jag version off doom was the only version playable at a decent frame rate full screen with no drop off when the game got busy, so how can it be a lazy ass port, if it surpased every one till the much later and last playstaion version came out.

the wolfenstein port is pretty damm similar to the mac port, but i dont see you jag haters slamming it, and the original release never had anything like 60 levels and half off that came from an addon pack nocturnal missions, 3do is good version

  • Who said I hated the Jaguar? I think it's a great system that could've done awesome if there was some support. I just can't stand when people blindly liking something because of popular opinion. I don't like Wolf3D on the Jaguar because IT'S NOT WOLFENSTEIN. If you take out the points and lives system, and have said items count as health, it ruins the game. It makes it too easy, and makes secret areas with multiple lives pointless.

  • And as I said, there's no circle strafing in Doom for the Jaguar. That means having the ability to strafe and turn at the same time. It really hurts the controls of the game. And taking out invisibilities, crushing ceilings, and the bosses really hurts the port. Framerate and graphics means nothing to me. It's about gameplay. And the Jaguar port isn't terrible, as I said, it's just decent. What I can't stand is when people hype up a game and refuse to acknowledge its flaws.

  • I know you can strafe in the Jaguar version, I said you can't circle-strafe. That's means strafing and turning at the same time.

  • @elbryan42 my original pc floppy boxed copy has less aprox 30 though i think its just under, the graphics at there max are crude the sound is barely above pc speaker quality even through a soundblaster. the repetive backgrounds make it hard to know where you are without an in game map, (although the booklet in the box has them printed) the animation is clunky and the standard controls garbadge.

the jaguar, 3do and mac versions dramaticaly improved on the standard pc game in every way.

  • I know about the Nocturnal and Original levels. I owned Wolf3D for the PC when it was new. The graphics were very cutting edge for the time,. and I still think they look great. There's no need for an automap. I find that automaps hold people's hands too much. It's about wrapping you head around the level and figuring it out on the fly. And BTW, there was a version of Wofl3D with automap (can't remember the version number), but they took it out of future versions.

  • The only problem with the controls on the PC is no circle-strafing. But at least it doesn't use the same button as open. I can't stand accidentally closing a door I meant to strafe through. So it's passable.

The 3DO, Mac and Jaguar ports only have one sided enemies, making stealth kills impossible. They also don't have patrolling enemies, and the enemies seem to try to circle around you less. The rocket launcher, flame thrower, and backpacks are great additions though.

  • I honestly don't think there's a version of Wolf3D that's better than all others. But I can list the bad versions that I never want to play again. Those would be the XBox, GBA and Jaguar versions. The others (SNES, PC, XBox360/PS3, 3DO, Mac) are all good.

  • @elbryan42 i can accept your difference of opinon and taste, but you cant say the jag version was bad.

i find the original horrendous to the point of unplayable, played jag version first.

then the 3do my two faviourite versions.

would say your biased to the pc version and looking at it through rose colred specs, but each to there own.

enjoy wolfenstein what ever you play it on.

  • @elbryan42 your obviously one of the many 3do owners that make me ashamed to own the machine myself.

purtianical blinded hate for a rival machine that was just as good, look at world tour racing, phaze zero, alien vs predator, games that better show the jags ablity.

theres plenty of games to pick holes in for the 3do, the pathetic port of doom slow and not full screen.

theres a few gems as well need for speed wolfenstein 3d.

i'll ask you why your on a jag game, posting negative comments about it

  • I don't favor any system over any other. I own every system, and I love them all. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people overhype a game and refuse to see the negatives. Like Goldeneye, GTA, Halo, Call of Duty, Duke3D for the Saturn, Wolf3D for the Jaguar, Doom for the Jaguar, etc.

I don't blindly hate any machine, and you have no basis for your comment. I never said I hated the Jaguar. I just said I don't like a bare bones Doom port, or a version of Wolfenstein 3D that's not Wolf3D.

  • The 3DO port of Doom as ambitious (like adding transparencies and better lighting), but it's obvious that Art Data didn't know what the hell they were doing when they ported it. Whether a game is good or not doesn't have to do with the system, it has everything to do with the people making the game.

The 3DO has great games and bad games, the 3DO has great games and bad games. The reason why I have over 20 consoles is because every console has great games for it.

  • And the reason why I'm here commenting on a Jaguar game is because this is my video. Are you blind?

I have Wolf3D for almost every console except the GBA port, which doesn't allow you to run and strafe at the same time. And I've posted videos of them. I have every version of Doom as well. I have tons of FPS games.

  • ^^ meant to say "The 3DO has great games and bad games, the Jaguar has great games and bad games."

  • @1StIwY1

Wolfenstein3D is science fiction, so who cares?

  • still there is no perfect version of wolfenstein 3d, both jaguar and 3do only has the front sprites of the enemies so they are always facing you, while the pc had back and both sides as well, actually 8 different sides. you could sneak up on them from the back or the side. in the pc version guards actually walk around patrolling areas, while in the jaguar, 3do and mac version they only stand still till they spot you.

  • I recently bought a Jaguar with the CD addon on ebay. I've always wanted it since 1993 and I finally got one! Better late than never I guess.

Now I need to get some games, like this one, Doom, etc. :D

  • oppsie,its not,its Roland Sound Canvas percussion

  • I hear Roland D series percussion...again in a game!

  • ill called this game wolfendoom cuz the weapons look like its off of doom

  • what is Jaguar?

  • @drawingdude267 It's the Atari Jaguar, a console launched in 1993 arguably the first 64 bit console

  • @st1ka ok. It's kinda cool, but it's not as cool as the original :) Spear of destiny kicks ass.

  • u all wondering why do the gunz look like they came off of doom

because the creators from wolfenstein 3d r the same creators from doom john romero and other doom programmers. their both from id software and activision

  • its very weird as he can't move his hands while running like all onter fps that came after

it feels like the tank from battlezone

  • HOT DOOM !

    Privet frank´s last words

    Rest in peace

  • There was a few ports that where the enemy always faced you no matter if they was walking away or walking sideways. i forget what ports did this, i know the PC version was not this way.

the Jaguar version looked very good but i think it was one of the versions that where the enemy's always faced you. but other then that the Jaguar version was the best looking in the GFX department.

  • the pistol looks like Doom guy's pistol in different angle

  • these are the textures that should have been used in the ps3/360/steam version.

  • I say this isby far th best port other than the Snes port.

  • You should check out my videos of the 3DO port much better. 90 levels instead of just 30, great music, and great gameplay.

  • @elbryan42 This may sound strange but the ground and roof of the 3DO version has always bothered me for some reason

  • @st1ka its the way they made the game just ignore the roof and floor -_-

  • Comment removed

  • @elbryan42

3do port is great, but it doesn't have the original music, and the characters original face which looks a lot better, that was kept intact on the jaguar, same music just enhanced too and more weapons than the 3do port.

  • The 3DO and Jaguar have the same amount of weapons. The knife, pistol, chaingun, flamethrower and rocket launcher. The music is replaced on the 3DO with orchestrated music, the Jaguar's music is almost the exact same music as the PC.. The 3DO port has 90 levels, the Jaguar has 30 levels. The Jaguar has a single strafe button, the 3DO has strafe left and right with the shoulder buttons.

    3DO wins.

Make sure you use your brain before you open your mouth.

  • @elbryan42 why is their more cappy versions of doom than wut their is on wolf3d

  • I wouldn't say that's true. Crappy versions of Doom: 3DO, 32X, Jaguar, Saturn, XBox. Crappy versions of Wolf3D: Jaguar, GBA, XBox, XBox360/PSN.

  • @elbryan42

well the crappy versions i think on doom is (3DO-32x-jaguar-saturn-gba except doom 2)

and the only crappy versions i think on wolf3d is just the GBA version the rest of the versions r ok

but the 360/PS3 version could use some graphic improvement on wolf3d

  • For Wolf3D, the 360/PS3 version is slowed down and the XBox version (on RTCW) doesn't have running whatsoever. The Jaguar version doesn't even act like Wolf3D, with the extra lives and treasure counting as health. And the Jaguar version controls like crap. Lastly, the GBA version requires you to hold onto both L and R to run, and has no music.

The Mac, 3DO and SNES ports are the only good ports of Wolf3D IMHO.

Of course, the PC originals of Doom and Wolf3D are awesome. :)

  • @killkenny5000 Probably because they focused more on graphics, or because every console port was lacking something important. For Sega, it was the sounds.

  • Comment removed

  • @elbryan42

im aware that 3do has more levels, but i still kinda liked the jaguar version better as it had the original music only enhanced (not that orchestra junk), and i didnt like the characters new face look in the 3do version (jaguar kept the one from the pc).. and the weapons looked bigger and better i think.

  • @elbryan42 u know wuts weird

the 3DO had the best wolf3d port but like the 2nd worst DOOM port and the PS1 has the best DOOM port but wolf3d havent came out on PS1 until it was release on the PS3 and somehow a disappointment to the 3DO port

  • @killkenny5000

the jag has the best doom. period. even though it aint got any music

  • How so? The Jaguar has no circle strafing (that's a HUGE problem), no music, no crushing ceilings, no invisibility artifiact, no spectre, no cyberdemon, no spider mastermind, and simplified levels.

  • @HerrGubba not exactly doom on psx has doom 1 and 2 put together with extra new maps and nice colorful colors and creepy music + lots and lots of darkness that will remind u of doom64 but doom psx cameout 1st

also the jaguar version of doom dose have music but its only at the stats screen which clearly it sounds like ducks not farts_ duck (just in case if u think i was talking the 32x port)

and the psx port runs faster than the pc port.

  • And minigun too!))) LOL

  • Pistol from Doom! Hahahhah! It's very ridiculous!! I'm under my table now!)))

  • this is a very good port of wolfenstein

  • Also that looked like a highly polished Doom Mini gun. LOL

  • This will probably be the last time I say this about a console, This looks better then the PC version. This was probably one of the only times in history this held true. Most of the time PC versions were better.

  • ive seen all ports of this game. 3DO is preety cool. But i like this port better.

  • Why does the mp40 have a rectangular ironsight? Isn't it supposed to be roun?

  • better than 3do version im amainly talking about the look of the mp40 vs. 3do not gameplay

  • this one has the best graphics, superior even to the Mac edition.

  • Wow id software recycles alot. That chaingun noise is waht they used for the chaingun in quake 2.The pistol was recycled from doom.

  • lol DOOM pistol

  • 4 things we hate about this version:

    1. There's no "Mein leben."

    2. There's no bonus level 10.

    3. The developers took out stages 3-8

    4. B.J. doesn't see daylight after defeating Hans Grosse and go "Yeah!"

  • Best version ever!!

  • Nice version. Smooth framerate.

  • you used jaguar emulator? or its original vid?

  • I never use emulators. This is played on the real console.

  • @elbryan42 damn, you have a jaguar?

  • Yup. :)

  • @elbryan42 Awesome game. I used to love the cheats for it on my jaguar. You should do Iron Soldier or Zool 2. I loved my Jaguar so much. Tempest 2000 on Jaguar had the best music.

  • @elbryan42 Here's to that! I'm hunting for a Jaguar and a Jaguar CD, just for the good ones!

  • @ArmedtotheTeethProd well good luck with that cuz most of those jaguar cds dont work

u can talk to the angry video game nerd he bought like 2 of them and they both dont work so he wasted 450$

  • @killkenny5000 He has a working one now, I think it's his third.

  • Comment removed

  • I prefer 3DO

  • so why's it called wolfenstein?

  • What do you mean?

  • @elbryan42 Where did the name, 'Wolfenstein' come from?

  • @namelessmichael The name comes from the game series of the same name created by Muse software(Castle Wolfenstein and Return to Castle Wolfenstein) back in the 80's which inspired quite a bit of this game even to the plot of the first episode escape the castle with the plans which was the plot/purpose of Castle Wolfenstein (and no in case anyone reading this never heard of the Muse titles, there not shooters there more of early stealth game like Metal Gear and Splinter Cell)

  • PLEASE SOMEONE! I am desprite to know how to get the loot behind the pillers on mission 4 floor 2. I searched high and low for anything I could find on google and youtube, and there are absolutly no, and i meen ABSOLUTLY no walkthrows or hints or maps of this game anywere. Not even on gamefaqs or IGN. help?

  • You can watch my 3DO videos, as they have the same maps. I get 100% secrets.

  • in a battle of Doomguy vs William BJ who would win?

  • So they just filched some of the gun graphics from Doom, huh?

Also, reminds me of the SNES version but with blood and Nazis kept in.

  • Yeah, a very sloppy port. New engine that acts more like Doom (the game was made in a weekend as a test to see if Doom was possible on the Jaguar). Plop in the SNES sounds and maps, add in graphics that were being used for the Mac port of Wofl3D, put in weapon graphics from Doom, and un-censor it by adding some (but not all) German voices themselves.

    That's the reason why I don't like this version. It's just not Wolf3D. it's a sloppy mish-mash of a few different games.

  • And as the Jaguar shoed, it could take Doom...but not all of its music.

I'd probably pick the XBLA port of WF3d, myself.

  • IMHO Mac or 3DO Wolf3D are the best versions. New, better, graphics, sounds and music. The 30 console levels, and the 90 original PC levels. That's 90 levels of awesomeness. :)

  • The 3DO version was brill. The same guys who did that should have tackled Doom.

  • Yeah, Logicware and Interplay knows what they're doing. Art Data obviously didn't.. Not nearly as bad as Titus' terrible port of Prince of Persia 2 for the SNES. THAT's the worst console port of a PC game ever made, hands down.

  • To be air to Art Data, Doom is a more powerful game with varied environments, more enemies and weapons. But really, they should have put more effort into it.

And that SNES port of Prince of Persia 2 was not a game. It was a stinking pile of glitches with maybe a smidgen of game tucked in here and there.

  • I played the Genesis beta of POP2 recently. It was VERY accurate and awesome! The only problem is the music's pretty bad (like the first POP and countless other Genesis games). Too bad it was never finished (I can't get to the temple, since the puzzle for getting onto the horse statue is incomplete). The difference between Psygnosis making a port and Titus.

If POP2 for the Genesis was completed and released, it would've really been really nice to have a great port back in the 90s.

  • Maybe I'll pick that up some day. Otherwise, I'd stick with the DOS version or Mac version

  • i play with emulator on pc

  • how do u change weapons

  • Is it just me, or did they use the chaingun model from Doom in this?

  • 3D0 Port was good but this version is closer to PC version in terms of sound.

  • In terms of music, yes. In terms of sound effects (which I'm impressed by how they got it to sound so close to the original MOD tunes), it's the SNES sounds with some of the voices replaced with new german voices.

  • pretty good port I must say. Doom for the jaguar doesnt have music, lucky this one does.

  • clearly someone who has never even so much as had his dick sucked... well... atleast not by a girl.

  • WHat happened to MEIN LEBEN.

  • This should remake wolf3d with better lighting in WiiWare

  • best port of the game about graphs (textures and sprites) with the 3do version and Mac (sound).

    Sorry my english

  • I don't like this port, it just doesn't have the same feel as the the PC version. Just because they took about all the weapon models straight form DOOM for some reason, they might as well call Doomenstien 3D! And they took away the German stuff the enemies say when they die.

  • Its a doom pistol!

  • Holy shit. This looks BETTER than the original! The audio is very faithful as well, but DAMN!

  • I love how the pistol is taken straight from DOOM.

  • Too bad Jaguar DooM didn't have music like this port of Wolf3D.

  • Always makes me laugh when they go

    "ehfthsf-ehfthsf!!!"

  • I hear this game was developed with the Doom engine while Doom was being developed for the Atari Jaguar. This was put together as a bit of fun. This version of Wolfenstein 3D ended up turning out so good they released it.

  • This is correct.

  • the weapons look like the ones from doom, especially the pistol and rocket launcher

  • Heh, I really want to try this out now! Even if just to see the Doom rocket launcher HUD sprite as it was meant to be, not the chopped-off version that had to be put in (something about being the sprites being too big so id needed to half them).

  • Someone claimed that there is a rocket launcher and a flamethrower in the Jaguar version. But I only saw the pistol the rifle and the Chaingun. Is there really a rocket launcher and a flamethrower in the game?

  • There's a rocket launcher and flamethrower in the SNES, Jaguar, 3DO and Mac versions of Wolf3D.

  • the chaingun looks like the doom chaingun

  • I personally don't care much for this port, but if I owned a Jaguar this would be one game i'd get. I personally think the Macintosh/3DO version is technically the best version I've seen so far, i haven't actually played it though, I like it a lot more than this one, it has far better graphics sound and music.

  • Best port of Wolfenstein ever (not that there were many) and is the only reason I own a Jag aside from AVP.

  • Bad dog!

  • I wish there were more blood. That's just me, though.

  • 4:26

everyone's been blabbing about the doom pistol, well that looks like the Doom chaingun to me! I also saw a few doom backpacks lyin around, i think.

Yes, I read the description, but those are the ONLY doom-esque aspects I see ;p

  • The 1-ups act like a soul spheres and the treasure act like health bonuses, making this version the easiest one.

  • I like the squeak of the German Shepherds when they die :D

  • Nice for the DooM pistol to make a cameo!

  • what did hans grosse said when he saw you

  • "Coming for ya!"

  • what did hans grosse said when he died
