@shmoozii The show wasn't meant to be funny to start with, it was character driven with emotional and depthful plots with deep insights of characters. At season 5 they went slightly wacky and made Homer a dumb jerk, at season 9 it went slightly downhill and then at season 10 they started making over the top zany episodes and eventually stopped emotional driven plots altogether. The only exception is Holidays of Future Passed.
@SatanFang look, if your watching the simpsons for emotional depth than somethings wrong. they were Obviously trying to be funny the first 5 seasons, and at times it was pretty funny. Sure, there were emotional episodes, but that really wasn`t the focus of the show at all. if you want emotional depth, watch the sopranos. the simpsons are here to make us laugh

I can't imagine what the hell the writers think they're doing to The Simpsons these days. The whole point of the show was that it made humorous plays at real life sterotypes that people could relate to, and still managed to have morals and dignity.
These new ones (i'm talking season 12-13 onwards) are all about kissing the ass of some celebrity fad that isn't even relevant by the time the episodes are aired mixed in with a couple of pointless jokes.

There are a few bad episodes yes, and a few that are so stupid and everything, but that's the point of that show I think. The show is definitely different from when they first started, as now they just make fun of everything for the most part which I like that, I like the political satire they have in their episodes. But the one about Wikileaks, that was stupid. But the 5 episodes with Mysterion, those are amazing. Yes, the 5th Mysterion episode is the newest one.

If the Simpsons was a new show starting in, say, 2006, with only the episodes aired since as being part of it's history, it would be one of my favorite shows on TV right now.
But then, the shows 'I' like to watch are generally those that critics love but get cancelled because no one watches them.
Ratings: 1-2, better than great, 3-5, as good as they'll ever be, 6, same as two, 7, same as 1, 8, good, 9, ok, 10, bad, 11-12, awful, 13-17, worse than awful, 18-23 (23 likely to be the last, the actors having the accept a 45% pay cut or quit), worse than worse than awful. It's hard to believe that they actually managed to get worse after season 10, but before season 20 you might have chuckled in your mind at a joke for a split second once every five episodes.
I still like it, it's funny to see hardcore fans that live with that saying "Simpsons isn't funny anymore" as if it's a fact and not a matter of opinion

I both agree and disagree with this video. While you can't ignore the fact that The Simpsons is nowhere near as funny as it was in it's prime around Season 7/8, it isn't an unfunny show. It still has it moments, and for most people that's enough. The movie wasn't a rehash of old episodes, and if you think that then you're just as much of an idiot as the people you insult/troll in the video. The Simpsons may or may not climb back to the peaks of it's popularity, but it's still a good show

I thought I was the only one who felt this way for years. I agree 100%, I grew up watching the simpsons and I relate parts of my childhood back to this show. Im in college now, I'm in my 4th year as any Aerospace Engineer so I dont watch as much tv any more. But every once in a while I will catch a new simpsons episode, complete trash. Once you have watched season 2 to season 5 episodes of the Simpsons, you have watched pretty everything. Almost everything which built the franchise fame is present during them. In my country, if they're still aired over the new ones it's for one and good reason: the serie became a mere shadow of what it once was.

There are a few bad episodes yes, and a few that are so stupid and everything, but that's the point of that show I think. The show is definitely different from when they first started, as now they just make fun of everything for the most part which I like that, I like the political satire they have in their episodes. But the one about Wikileaks, that was stupid. But the 5 episodes with Mysterion, those are amazing. Yes, the 5th Mysterion episode is the newest one.

If the Simpsons was a new show starting in, say, 2006, with only the episodes aired since as being part of it's history, it would be one of my favorite shows on TV right now.
But then, the shows 'I' like to watch are generally those that critics love but get cancelled because no one watches them.

It's hard to believe that they actually managed to get worse after season 10, but before season 20 you might have chuckled in your mind at a joke for a split second once every five episodes.

I both agree and disagree with this video. While you can't ignore the fact that The Simpsons is nowhere near as funny as it was in it's prime around Season 7/8, it isn't an unfunny show. It still has it moments, and for most people that's enough. The movie wasn't a rehash of old episodes, and if you think that then you're just as much of an idiot as the people you insult/troll in the video. The Simpsons may or may not climb back to the peaks of it's popularity, but it's still a good show

I thought I was the only one who felt this way for years. I agree 100%, I grew up watching the simpsons and I relate parts of my childhood back to this show. Im in college now, I'm in my 4th year as any Aerospace Engineer so I dont watch as much tv any more. But every once in a while I will catch a new simpsons episode, complete trash. Putting it simply, its not a show for "us" kids anymore, I asked my 11 year old sister about the simpsons. She told me, "that show sucks". Shame on the Exects.
