DJ Hasebe - first track "Metaphor 1" from the album "Hey World" samples this. Whole album is very good, haven't seen too many tracks on youtube though.
I've discovered this through the sample used by DJ Hasebe and picked up that LP a while later in an Osaka record shop. I love both the original and the remake.
wow is this production for real? the echoes at 0"33 and throughout the trumpets? sounding like an elephant trumpetting or a formula one car blazing in the horizon?
@ardentepatience Yes, this production is as serious as a heart attack. It was recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York (Jimi Hendrix's former studio). Real musicians, real singers, and not a synthesizer or sample in sight!
I just bought this LP in Tokyo for about $4 U.S. I am pretty well-versed in this genre of music, but this had slipped me by... Super dope. Thanks for posting!!
This is from her 1971 album "The Word Needs What I Need" ...and if you can find it buy it at any cost! It is a masterpiec!!!. Irene Reid should have been celebrated for the immense talent she had....but pretty much stayed a New York area secret. Her career also suffered from too many comparisions to Dinah Washington. This was one of the first jazz vocalist albums I ever bought as a teenager...and it is still one of the best I've heard. Her version of "Moondance" will take your breath away.
bleedin eck mate... where have i been.. never heard it before and this is how this youtube malarcky works... ya get some sweet tooones by accident...ya need an emergency room.....triffic track....love n peace from me in the green country somersetville......
gotta love youtube, it's like a maze in here, one song leads you to another and voila...I wind up here listening to a great song I've never heard before.
