  • Man I want to make that spinning disk a bulk superconductor...can this gimble assembly and the air-bearings withstand temperatures below zero Celsius?

  • I can understand how that would deal with axial loading, but how does it deal with radial loads including the rotor's own weight? I guess the rotor plates start off parrallel, but with the loading bend inwards towards the circumferance. If so won't the thickness of the plate stack vary with radius, and won't the rotor tend to rotate around the tight bearing if the rotor is off center?
