I have a Lhasa Apso. Her name is Cookie and she's adorable. when somebody comes home, goes outside or is at the door she starts barking and the only way is to let her out of her cage. She is 4 yrs old
Im having trouble with my Lhasa he is bad lol. 1.5 years old. He is unbelievably smart but he is a growler. Even when he is happy thats how he communicates Its weird but Hes not so nice he growls all the time. I play Tibetan meditation music to calm him down. He seems to respond to that. Im trying to channel his Tibet dna to be a good boy lol. Hes still bad though...
@queenietesajames My Lhasa growls, too. She growls if someone enters our home without greeting her first. She will also bark and growl at me when I get home from work and don't greet her before saying "hello" to the rest of my family.
@dena94603 Oh wow. Hes is getting better he was growling all the time. He growls about 45% less than at first but, he still doesnt trust strangers especially men. Lhasa and my husband have less beef but he is still growling at him smh...I noticed that these dogs will get portly if you over feed them. He is so greedy thats his latest issues FEED GREED. I walk him 40 minutes a day so he doesnt become a tub-o-lhasa
@dena94603 yes they are really really greedy, they try to pull that "but im sooo hungry" shenanigan. Im not falling for that he got me the first week or so with that, but then I got hip to his food obsession. I think overfed animals is potentially neglect. Im the boss not Mr Lhasa. He also has terrible skin allergies the last thing I need is to have him itchy, and portly no way
man. my lhasapoo is phsyco. She is determined to be the most un-protective dog in the world. i have my neighibor she dont know pretend to strangle meh, and she stares for like 5 seconds, and walks away. TT
My lhasa poo (Lhasa apso poodle mix) basically tries to be a guard dog, and chases of cows that come into the garden and barks at any cars that go past. And he's only 1 year old!
@3s4m0r3n4 Our Roxie puppy does the exact same thing. We call it snuffing us =P She does it when she is frustrated or when she isn't getting what she wants =) She is soooo smart... finds ways around our rules. Loves to dig, loves to warn us about everything.. LOVES people!! I will always own a Lhasa!
@3s4m0r3n4 Yes, I think they can sense that little kids are like babies. If anything she will tuck her tail and run away if the child is being too rough. Roxie won't snap at adults but she will get fed up and leave =P. lol Seriously love this breed. I don't see how anyone couldn't find them adorable!
Yeah I had a lhasa apso crossed with a poodle. They are not lying about them living a long time. Mine was 17 years old when she died. Anybody else think that they look like ewoks from star wars?
my mum bred lhasa's and won a few competitions too, but she and my family were all in love with each and every dog and were all taken very good care of. Our last dog, Precious, was our last dog for a number of years and we miss her alot. This is a great breed, very gentle, very loyal, and very sweet.
Oh gawd, old men and their little dogs, they should all get rooms, lol. My father is in love with his Lhasa. Oh yeah, and everything in the video is true. They are very independent and headstrong, though. You can't let them take a couch or chair or next they'll become bitchy and try to own everything. That's when they become aggressive.
mine is white, golden and grey lol. his name is Minus, and hes only 8 months but shocks me everytime he barks wondering where does that big voice come from that little body!!
@Bull1the1Great lol not mine, although he is only 8 months old but he has a butt load of energy, looooves to run outside and we always need toys around. although hes starting to hit the shoe chewing age but luckily raw hide ended that quickly. he is the best thing that has ever happened to me besides my hubby, he never leaves my side
I have a 9 year old Lhasa Apso called Teddybear. He hurt his back leg recently, jumpng off our bed. Be careful, these dogs are fearless and can get hurt jumping from high places.
Teddybear is getting better now. But, we're getting a bean bag so he won't get hurt jumping off the bed.
@johnhurren our Roxie does the same thing... loves to jump down from everything... so springy =P We put a chair next to the bed when she was little so she could use that as a half way point getting up and down =)
@tamithomas My dad keeps getting female Lhasas and training them to lick his face and ears. He sits there on the couch after work and lets the freakin' dog lick his ears out. The most recent one wouldn't kiss at first so he went crazy trying to get it to kiss him. It's actually sort of gross, lol.
@semaj175 mine is too but he's coming around, he's learning to listen to me finally at 5 months old.. when you wake up to those dreamy cute eyes, you can't help but to wake up in a good mood :)
hey guys a i have a male lhasa apso and hes always calm, its weird cause he only barks and stuff when he senses that theres a car or cat, but he just lays in his bed all day and barely likes exercising , it worries me a ton since ive had him for about 4 years, when we got him he was full of energy and now hes a lazy ass
@KarmasABiash dogs are like humans, we are energetic when we are young but as we get older, we start to lose our energy. its the natural ways of aging
This video is spot-on. I have a Lhasa Apso and he is just like this. The only thing is he actually loves to exercise, but doesn't need supervision to do so - he runs in our big yard all day long and loves it. So I would say it's healthiest if you have that option to let yours run & play outside.
