  • fuck WMG

  • pete was a great COLLEGE player. not to bash his pro career, but kinda overrated in my book.

  • Some people just love to call NBA players "thug" don't they. Got news for you. Maravich was a heavy drinker in his younger days and got into a few bar fights. So I guess you'd be calling him a "thug" also, eh? That is, if you're capable of calling a white guy a thug. He was indeed a good guy later in life, however. As most people are.

  • wish they'd bring back those old jazz uniforms here in Utah..

  • Thats fuckin gay the jazz need to keep up with the style these days otherwise thell be looking like the gay sixers logo, one old school jersey is good, but making it pernament would suck

  • WMG SUCKS

  • BMG sucks...no fundamentals. All show, no go.

  • the white tracy mcgrady

  • t-mac is not nearly as pistol to not fucking compare t-mac is a ballhog the only true true one in the NBA kobe used to. pistol pete was more like a white mix of a harlem globetrotter and d-wade in college he averaged 40 ppg and with the 3 point field goals he would have scored 50 points per game that is outrageous

  • @lilmizze5

Let me just correct some of those statements.

He averaged 44 ppg and with the 3pt line he would have averaged 56 ppg.

  • not 100, but definitely would of jumped it maybe 15-20 points. he averaged 44 over 3 seasons, most standout guys havent even come close to his total in four seasons. he is underrated on defense, look at his total steals, blocks. nothing to criticize there. hes a beast and would of kicked ass in present day nba.

  • that was a joke duh did you get that or not

  • now thats too far. yes he was amazing in his day but it was strict isolation defence back then. with strong zone defence and the speed and size of players today. . . . . he would be a stephen curry, outstanding ball skills and great shooting but is too small to kick ass like you say. . . .

  • lol

  • Just think if Pete Maravich had the 3-point line. In college, he would of averaged maybe 100 points a game!

  • umm actually the coach at lsu after press left charted all his shots and he wud hav avg. 57 but hey you are only 43 off!

  • I remember those years for the Jazz so well...Pete w/ Truck Robinson, Paul Griffin, Rich Kelley, Otto Moore, Aaron James, etc...It's just a shame Pete didn't get a chance to pass & play with some of the great players of his day.

  • Maravich didnt play a lick of defense but would shoot your eyes out and make you look like a damn fool out there dribbling the ball

  • that's my game no d.a good o is your best d.

  • While it is true that Maravich wasn't known as a great defensive player in the early years of his career 70-75... People should know that around 1976-78 Pete improved immensely on defense and my old NBA guides and my complete handbook of pro basketball from those years regarded Maravich as actually becoming quite underrated defensively.

  • pete maravich and larry bird amazin back then and today he would be better because his team would be ready for his passes he is great

  • yeah and bird had a way better team like way better

  • oh no question look at all the great players he played w/, and name me 3 that maravich played w/

  • thank you it is obvious that larry bird had a better team if pete had half that team he would have one as many chips as larry

  • 2 other things that held him back

    1. the messed up knee

    2. ever since he was coached by his dad he had an ego/relationship problem and could never truly interact w/ his players which cud hav also hindered his chances

  • Maravich was "Magic" before Magic became a reality. Most of all, Pete was a good guy, unlike so many of the overpaid, thug players of today.

  • Are you asking yourself... What is it I am watching? Why am I so captivated? Its simple you are watching poetry in motion from one of the Greatest Athletes Who Ever Lived.

An offensive genius. He could do things with a basketball others hadn't even dreamed possible. "He was an American phenomenon, a stepchild of the human imagination," admired Rich Kelley, one of Maravich's teammates. "He could do things with a basketball that I've never seen anybody do." admired Warriors great Rick Barry.

  • MPV Pete was always a religious person in that he sought purpose and meaning to life in various philosophies and life styles-UFO's, Vegetarianism, Eastern Religion and of course Basketball. However it is true that he did not become a Christian until after his NBA days. I think speaking about God is always appropriate (even on non-religious videos) you don't. With this in view, I will be surprised if you speak of God when commenting on non-religious videos. You shouldn't be surprised if I do.

  • Are you all fucking insane? This video is about basketball and Pete Maravich, not about religions and who's god is better than the other.

I get sick and fucking tired of Bible thumpers who constantly invade videos that have nothing to do with religion. Then they PUSH their beliefs on people who just want to watch non religious videos.

Get a life and go somewhere else with that bullshit!

  • Actually Mr. MyPersonal As far as I know you are not required to read religious oriented posts while watching Pete's videos here or anywhere else. I have made quite a few comments on Pete's videos commenting on his abilities. However, Pete cared more about his faith than his basketball career after his conversion to Christ and wouldn't mind posts about religion on his video sites. You have expressed your opinion, in no uncertain terms. And I respectfully disagree.

  • Well is Pete Maravich here? Is he reading the posts? No, he isn't.

I understand I don't have to read the posts, but I like reading them and commenting them. If it pertains to the video, then it makes sense. If this were a video talking about Pete Maravich's religion, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.

And just for the record, Maravich wasn't a religious person until AFTER he left the NBA, so how about leaving comments on what the video pertains to...

  • Sorry pal, thats the price you pay with freedom of speech. It's worth it don't ya think? You are free to watch or not watch...and I'm no bible thumper...just your friendly neighborhood Christian anarchist who loves classic basketball highlights.

    peace!

  • I understand that. And I believe you have that right, but when you start arguing about who's right and who's wrong...that isn't freedom of speach, it's pointless arguement.

I thought that Christianity was about forgiveness and peace, but it seems to me most Christians I've seen just like to argue and PUSH their views.

  • Well, i agree with ya. Arguing about who is "right and who is wrong" is pointless. And I agree with you that Christianity IS about forgivness and grace, despite the fact that so called"christians" have been screwing the message up for..well..since about 360AD I think!

    Peace

  • Nobody played it better!

  • Hi flyinghotwing. That is certainly a charge that has been made by more people than brother Bushby..and been soundly refuted. Have you ever read the Bible? And I don't mean a section here or there. I encourage you to do so. Than I would enjoy talking with you.

  • Hi Mr. Deflux. The assertion that Jesus is God is based upon the fact that he predicted he would be rejected by the Jewish leaders, handed over to the Romans and executed, but that he would "rise" from the dead". Jesus was one of many Jews and Gentiles crucified by the Romans. Why would anyone claim that this particular Jew rose from the dead? (Pete would love that we are having this conversation.)

  • try reading tony bushby, the bible fraud, excellent research on the truth of the matters, not the recycles lies that continue to dominate the ignorant masses

  • Why are you talking about God on a video that has absolutely nothing to do with him. Go watch a video that talks about religion and comment over there and leave this conversation out of this video.

  • you've got to remember his father was the head coach at a few universities like NC State and Clemson while he was growing up. Maravich was trained from birth. I have spent time with Maravich at the gym back in the seventies and eighties.

  • players like him or like michael jordan or magic johnson come every once in 1,000 years. they are just born to play the game and i hope we see someone be like these players on the court or better.

  • if they come on every 1,000 years how do you mention 3?

  • i can name many more but those were the ones that came to mind first, just al azar{random}.i can name larry bird, moses malone, carl malone, george gervin, clyde the glide, chris mullin bob cousy, and the list goes on.

  • haha! Well, humanity has some catching up to do.

  • that will be me in 8 years........

  • well if that is true i hope you can do what he did better than or equal becuase we need to that type of playing again.

  • 1,000 years? basketball is just over 100 year old...and pete maraviches and michael jordans and kobe bryants come only once...but people imitating their game will come too

  • Every one thousand years? Basketball has only been around for about 100 years. The NBA has only been around for just over 60 years.

Maybe you mean they come around once every 10 years.

  • it's just a saying meaning that a player with his skills and class only come once in a blue moon. that they dont come every 5 yearsto play for the nba

  • Nobody can match what Maravich did. In the 60's and 70's, nobody could do the things he did with the ball. Even today, players can only dream about doing the same thing with the ball.

Maravich wasn't a complete player like Jordan was, or Larry Bird was, but he was able to do things with the ball no one else could (or can). Truly amazing talent.

  • i agree but maravich WAS a complete player like jordan bird magic isiah thomas and all those other legends

  • he swishes evry time he shoots

  • sad that good players knee's cant take enought..

  • this guy is truly a legend, if there's anyone out there with crazier tricks than his i havent seem them

  • Pistol went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ in His kingdom! I wish I could have seen him play!!

  • you won't see him play, but in about 8 years, you'll see someone just like him play; me.

  • right on sammy playing for the north carolina tarheels lol i hope.

  • lol, i dunno...

  • Jesus Christ in his kingdom? um....what the hell? Jesus ain't god. Jesus ain't no savior.

  • repent.

  • suck a dick

  • your one of satan's toys :(. i feel bad for you.

  • um..no it's just that you're calling Jesus the King of Heaven and people are calling him God...Jesus was never a God..just a Prophet.

Anyone who believes Jesus is God is an idiot.

  • Your right. Jesus was never a God. HE has always will be God, forever. You need help. Read the Bible?

  • "HE has always will be God"

wtf? You think I'm gonna listen to a fag who can't even get his grammar right?

  • Sorry. It's called a mistake. I'm human; we're all human. It's natural for humans to make mistakes. We, as humans, are not perfect. God, however, is perfect.

Thank you for pointing out my grammatical mistake Defluxinator. My correct response to your prior response was intended to be in the following:

"He has and always will be God."

  • but he's not God... and he never has been and never will. God is God. Jesus is Jesus. Kobe is Kobe. Cheese is Cheese. So Jesus is not God. Jesus was a prophet. What makes Jesus so great that he's God? What about all the other Prophets? They're not God. Jesus was human. Not God.

    You=Stupid

  • It's obviously pointless arguing with a man with such high intellect as yourself. Your too much. Just read the Bible.

God is not God in the way your talking about by the way. God is three Divine Persons in One God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

  • god is within, therefore we have perfection within us...however due to the extra terrestrial DNA in us, we suffer from our essence as genetically manipulated scientific experiment...

  • what?

  • We are made in the image and likeness of God. However we are fallen creatures whose nature has been corrupted by sin. Because of this our spirits are dead to God and we, like Adam and Eve, have believed the lie that through disobedience to God's law, we can become "like God". As Dylan once wrote: "The truth is in our hearts, yet we still don't believe".

  • What the hell are you babbling about? You DID know this video is about Pete Maravich, right?

  • "In the beginning was the Word [Jesus]and the Word was with God and the Word was God...All things came in existence through Him; and without Him [Jesus] was not even one thing made that has come into being". John 1: 1-3

  • Ahahha..propaganda. Yeah, Jesus is God, and Im also the next Tupac and President of the USA... you people are truly ignorant.

  • THE GREATEST

  • By the way, what do you mean by he was "never the same?"

  • he probably meant that Pete stopped doing nice passes, extremely hard tricks with the basketball, etc.

  • nice videos!
