I really like how he put Tupac and Cobain together - talent, realness, and attitude don't have shit to do with genre / color / time / or anything like that. Music is music.
Whazup! I am a 17 year old producer who tries to make his dream come true. I have been doing this for about 2years now but started posting on YouTube a few months ago ... Hip Hop like this inspires me to keep striving. Music is my life. I know this shit is really annoying but I’m an aspiring artist trying my hardest doing all I know how to do. this song is so sick and true...the instrumental, lyrics and everything is on point...."I didn't come here to crank dat-jockk, or walk it out. either I'm blind or hip hop dyin' in the south"
"And I love face, bumbeat, cass, and goody mob but i miss scenario, make em pay, and how to rob"
He's taking shots for saying the hip hop is dead, then when on stage to honor tribe he forgot the words. I like lupe's music, but to say hip hop is dead, then say u never really listened to tribe. To say u got begged to do it, was insulting to Q-tip, was embarrassing.
@jddarroch He might as well just stayed off that stage and not have done it, he messed up more just doing it sides just laying back and standing by his statement he never listened to them which is his choice. He should have just sat that one out.
"Rap is wack, To many fake Eminems... White boys dye their hair blonde, and try to rhyme like him"
REKS is dope but that is bar is some made up shit. Who does that? No one. I really don't think "fake Eminems" have had anything to do with the modern state of Hip Hop. Real talk. To many fake MOP's and shit maybe. Fake gangsters living out dreams on the mic...
@MrSockoOck its more of a symbol, copy paste cookie cutter young hopefuls believing that simply mimicking what they see will warrant greatness. he isn't saying away with the male blonde teens lol hes just saying be your damn self. Speak truth from the soul and it won't be anything less than your best as it is.
reks is so sick, but he says and believes some stupid backward ass shit. he needs to step his philosophy game up. gotta roll with the punches and adapt with the times.
@avalanchesoul adapt the times? that's called being a conformist =) maybe you just can't comprehend what he is saying? I wouldn't suggest manifesting that haha, might as well say "man his shit is just TOO deep"
@KillahB89 see, you sound like you've read a book. other dude wasn't worth any actual rebuttal. he equated adapting to the times with conformity and said "i wouldn't suggest manifesting that." seriously, you know from that alone how dumb dude is. then he suggested that reks is too deep to understand?? hilarious how rap fans look to rappers for intellectual guidance. about reks: to be specific, his ideas on homos is going to go down on the wrong side of history. whatev. ignorance is ignorance.
ohh... well in that case, I cant offer any qualms. You're right. Although you oughta search a rapper named SHAD. Look up a song called "Question Marks." The guy is at the apex of hip hop today in my opinion. But then again he is actually a grad student. He delivers the type of music that can actually stimulate someone who is more thoughtful than the average drunken undergrad
@KillahB89 dude shad is the mutha fucking shit I've got all of his albums, second best alive in the game IMO, behind immortal technique. REKS is up there too, big ups to this man!
If you like artists like Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Nas, and J. Cole, I think you'll like my music too. Check out my singles “Microphone” and “Rhythm & Poetry” (feat. Diem and eKZ), and tell me what you think. Any feedback is appreciated. I promise I don't disappoint.
Reks is defintely one of my favorite rappers right, probably top 5, but i still don't really why he had to call out Lupe when Lupe is the only one in the mainstream that is spitting real shit. and Lupe has mainstream beats but its not the beat, its the message. Either way, I love them both.
@nastyteeth22 He wasn't really calling out Lupe as an artist, he was making mention of award show honouring A Tribe Called Quest, Lupe came out to perform one of their songs but didn't know the lyrics and screwed it up. You can see a clip of it in this video when he says the line. After the show Lupe tried to play it off by saying he didn't listen to Tribe growing up and didn't know the song. But Lupe took a lot of heat for it in the industry.
@kingrich51 oh damn, thanks man, did not know about what really happened but still though I think REKS shouldn't be calling out people like that, i mean every musician makes mistakes, it could have been worse if Lupe was lipsynching or something like that.
this dude aint going nowhere by dissin everyone. if he wants to be his own person that's all good but i mean when your doggin 99% of the artists these days because they're on the radio? shits whack. they made it. he didn't. and "too many white boys dying their hair blond tryna rap like eminem?" uhh like who...?
@matthewc39 "I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bullshit just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets. how much money does it take to really make a full clip? 9-1 building did they really pull it?" ya what a sell out...you ignoramus his lyrical content is not only conscience but intelligent and his lyrical skill is crazy hes is on a whole different metaphorical level than any other mainstream artist. He one artist who has pleased his label got airplay with a real message
because lupe, who has been said to have traced influence from a tribe called quest, said he never even heard a song by them and they had no bearing on his career which pissed off the hip-hop community because of all the clear influences by them you can see in Lupe's music...Lupe tried to make it out like he never had any influences and everything he did was by himself, but hat was more than like 3 years ago...he acknowledges Hip-Hop legends, just a small slip up by him on that one
@EdikitMusic exactly .. it should be mandatory for these rappers to learn hip-hop history before they pick up a mic. understand why tribe is classic, understand the energy of wu and onyx, understand the lyrical content of rakim and nas, the wordplay of big daddy kane old jayz, the power of EPMD, flow of outkast, and knowledge of krs-one etc etc so and so forth.
if more people and not just rappers understood this there woulndt be a rick ross or half these other cornball rappers out!
truest words that need to be stated on a public platform but the big corporate heads won't allow those real words to ever be uttered. Why? Cuz it threatens what they've created, a game of ringtone artists to make a quick short-term profit...real Hip-Hop lives...Underground!

hes lyricly good but hes not big enough and doesnt have enough fans to be talkin shit about how new york is droppin and they south is rising not falling 2 upcoming rapper j cole and jay electronica r from the south.... and whoever said hip hop went to canada is retarded
@matthewc39 We dont need no fucking 50,000,000 million views to this reks, we keep it underground like rap used to be. It aint about talkin' cars black and yellow or money stacks. Back in the days it was so so so much harder to be a succesful MC. Todays u just rap about ur ugly ass cars and you will get paid so its question of time when theres rappers in canada too
I AM HIP-HOP and this is my future, I will say it homie, you can change the game like my favorite M.C. Nas. You can be a top five cat this shit is what us real heads been waiting for since Nas. Get Em'
HIP HOP AINT DEAD IT LIVES IN THE NORTH, - MAYHEM MOREARTY , JIGZ CRILLZ, ARAPHATS, GANGIS KHAN AKA CAMOFLAUGE , THE LIST GOES ON CANADA IS WHERE ITS AT NOW THE STATES IS CANDY ASS GARBAGE NOW SEPT FOR A FEW UNDERGROUND ARTISTS
@rippa420 lol, Canada is in the same damn boat that we are in the States. It has nothing to do with the country you live in, it's THE TIME and THE ERA all of us are living in. Canada was just as good in the 1990's for hip hop as the U.S. was. Same thng with France. Paris, France had some PHENOMENAL hip hop groups. Supreme NTM/Saian Supa Crew to name just a couple. Anyway, i hope you know Canada has just as many shitty sell outs. If you had to pick a country, i'd pick GERMANY for hip hop. :)
great song, i felt it but...lupe is a part of the problem? wow, that's not what it looks like at all. if there's someone keepin' it alive in the spotlight with some skill and something to say, that's lupe.
This is real hip hop, come and check me out and subscribe if ya want to help support new real hardcore hip hop....if yall want new real hip hop for the future generation yall gotta support the new young mcs tryin to make it in the game, peace
@AK123456789123456 He is saying Lupe is part of the problem and not contributing to the solution. "How can Lupe complain when his fiasco at a rap show to honor rap greats is to blame." REKS speaks truth, man on a mission, and he doesn't sugar coat. Raw, unadultered hip-hop, the way it should be.
I absolutely LOVE this yo. Listen to Joe Budden Pray For Me too.. SHIT IS THE REALEST SONG I'VE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE!!! I promise you, listen to the lyrics shit is greatness.
Rap died. A long time ago in the charts. And gangsta rap was the undertaker.
Remember tha dayz when rap used to be ignored by airplay. Then there was the censorshipshit.
NWA, GetoBoys got a lot of attention, followed by Dr. Dre and Snoop who brought shit to another level. But it died back than, it died. No more messages
@Kaitaro29 Geto Boys had some messages in their songs, especially Face on his solos! I think the South bullshit was the death of it, just saying IMO.
This dude got a nice 1990s NYC type flow for real. Yeah, people need to wake up, turn off the radio and get conscious about whats goin' on in the world but real hip hop is out there. Dude need to leave Boston for a minute and find it. Plenty of nice lyricists down south spittin' old skool like Outkast, Goodie Mob, UGK back in the day... Curren$y, JET LIFE fool... youtube that shit, you'll see...
He's not the only one who included Kurt Cobain in his lyrics but I like that. It shows people that rappers don't listen to rap. They are influenced by all kinds of good music.

@NVevan yea CANADA THATS RIGHT, home of boy1da list goes on b itch
rippa420 10 months ago

Yo this guy is tight but I don't get what he is saying about Lupe, is he dissing him?
AK123456789123456 11 months ago
@AK123456789123456 He is saying Lupe is part of the problem and not contributing to the solution. "How can Lupe complain when his fiasco at a rap show to honor rap greats is to blame." REKS speaks truth, man on a mission, and he doesn't sugar coat. Raw, unadultered hip-hop, the way it should be.
skeveperry 11 months ago 20
@skeveperry
Nah I'm pretty sure he really meant Lupe Fiasco is whack, makes teeny bop music and trys to pass it off as lyricism.

Kaitaro29 1 year ago
