Vast majority of brothers and sisters I know of the older generation have a very conservative mindset. Folks balk at MLK being a republican and then start yapping about GOP. The man had a conservative mindset. So did Malcolm X. Then you have people like Sharpton, etc. running around with this liberal gimme gimme mindset. It's in the mindset. I see folks voting Dem knowing they don't like a lot of the things Dems stand for. Difference between conservative and GOP. Think on it.

@bmstv...In Florida where people have to register for a party or not vote in the primaries...surprisingly most blacks register as Democrats but the next largest voting block is the neither dem/nor Republican party and lastly the Republicans come in 3rd.

This lady points out that Dr. King was a republican every time she speaks. On what basis did he support the GOP? Maybe because he was against abortions and same sex marriages? Why don't she explain how he would have supported affirmative action, unlike condeleeza rice. Dr. King, in my opinion, would not have condoned the arguments that are brought forward by the likes of the black republicans. Instead of pointing out the faults of our community, how about coming up with solutions!

Here is my side of the spectrum: In the past, prior to the civil rights act of 64, you had what they called the dixiecrats(southern dems). Post civil-rights act, those dixiecrats became reps. Hence, Jesse Helms, Strom Thurmond. If you look at todays electoral map, you will see how the states have flip-flopped from blue to red since 1964. Thurmon, Helms, both were against school intergration and civil rights. These ppl. were the epitome of racism! That today is pretty much were rep. party stands!

First thanks for the comments. Several people wanted to see what the Republicans message was. The black community for 8 years had no voice or contact with the Bush administration. If John McCain wins can we afford another 4 years with no influence. The questions is did you hear or see enough from Republicans to vote for them. I am not endorsing voting for Republicans.
