Vast majority of brothers and sisters I know of the older generation have a very conservative mindset. Folks balk at MLK being a republican and then start yapping about GOP. The man had a conservative mindset. So did Malcolm X. Then you have people like Sharpton, etc. running around with this liberal gimme gimme mindset. It's in the mindset. I see folks voting Dem knowing they don't like a lot of the things Dems stand for. Difference between conservative and GOP. Think on it.
@bmstv...In Florida where people have to register for a party or not vote in the primaries...surprisingly most blacks register as Democrats but the next largest voting block is the neither dem/nor Republican party and lastly the Republicans come in 3rd.
It's funny how they post condoleeza rice on their magazine and call her the most powerful woman in the world. Let's see what rush limbaugh and ann coulter have to say about that!
This lady points out that Dr. King was a republican every time she speaks. On what basis did he support the GOP? Maybe because he was against abortions and same sex marriages? Why don't she explain how he would have supported affirmative action, unlike condeleeza rice. Dr. King, in my opinion, would not have condoned the arguments that are brought forward by the likes of the black republicans. Instead of pointing out the faults of our community, how about coming up with solutions!
If you do your research, it's the republican party who refuses to acknowledge "Affirmative Action". What's your point? I don't see Justice Bader Ginsberg or Souter fighting it. All I ever hear is that douchebag Clarence Thomas, who is a republican, denouncing it all the time. Make up your mind. I also did research, as you requested, and I found out that Nixon was impeached! " I am not a crook"! LOL
Here is my side of the spectrum: In the past, prior to the civil rights act of 64, you had what they called the dixiecrats(southern dems). Post civil-rights act, those dixiecrats became reps. Hence, Jesse Helms, Strom Thurmond. If you look at todays electoral map, you will see how the states have flip-flopped from blue to red since 1964. Thurmon, Helms, both were against school intergration and civil rights. These ppl. were the epitome of racism! That today is pretty much were rep. party stands!
Please give me a plausible reason to believe you, when you say that the dems. are the racist party, TODAY! They're so racist, they've elected a bi-racial man as the President of the U.S.. Name any federal level republican, that is currently holding a political office. JUST ONE! Please, don't make statements like this without having facts to support them! You are insulting me. I don't want to hear about the "party of lincoln". He did what he had to do. Let's see; 1865? 2009? What's the point?:
dr king would never have supported abortion and back then (especially in the south) you would've never heard of "same sex marriage" or "same sex" anything. dr. king would've never supporter affirmative action which is nothing but a "hand-out." in dr. king's speech "judge a person by the context of their character, not by the color of their skin" proves he would've never supported that AA foolishness. the faults of the black community need to be pointed out, maybe someone of substance will emerge
lol this chick is full of shit .I remember her telling me that it's linclon that free the slaves. I told in her in return your party is not the party of linclon. The dixie crats run your party, and linclon didn't fight the war over slavery. He only did it to bring the country together.
Good interview with Dr. Frances Rice. Although a little combative on her end. She explained her position!
But the only thing that separates her from the rest.
It's reality! If she wants to Blacks to join the Republican, please drop the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is a Republican. And officially denounce Jesse Helms, Bill O'Reilly and Strom Thurmmond.

I wonder what would happen if blacks became independent voters. No party affiliation. Than it would force anyone who wanted the group's collective vote to come courting. With the Supreme court up for grabs I am not sure this election is the one to try it on.
First thanks for the comments. Several people wanted to see what the Republicans message was. The black community for 8 years had no voice or contact with the Bush administration. If John McCain wins can we afford another 4 years with no influence. The questions is did you hear or see enough from Republicans to vote for them. I am not endorsing voting for Republicans. Just an open mind and listening ear.
Go create a new party and see how many people will join!!
Oh you would be amazed as the Green Party and Libertarian party are very much around. All I am saying is blacks need to stop thinking the Dem/Repubs will constantly be in their corner. With Hispanics on the scene there is a new voting bloc. Just saying.
Green party? Libertarian party? Enroll in Gov1301 than you'll understand better. Dude Rep ideology does not offer any advantages to the blacks that are poor. Some blacks to show that they have made switch to Rep. Do you for one minute think that McCain cares about blacks? find me a picture of him shaking a black man's hand! The guy is BLACKOPHOBIC. He could not even smell Obama in the senate. In your case finding the right Democrat only come every 260 years. Dude work with what you've got.
Cont like I said we need to branch off from both parties as neither one really needs us or wants us, it's about the latino vote which Repubs are courting quite heavily.
Also why is this woman saying Obama should not be an affirmative action candidate yet in still she is the president of the National Black Republcian Organization, did white Repubs not accept the organization(which they probably haven't) I say as blacks we need to branch off from

imo democrats belong in a democracy and republicans belong in a republic
I for one like the government to fear me rather than the other way around so its probably obvious what party I'm in

The title to this video reads:
"Is the Democratic Party the only choice?"
The answer is no. But then, neither is the Republican Party. Registering *Independent* is also another choice.
